Honda S2000 Engine

Irrelevant

Recommended Posts

Hello...

Has somebody an idea how difficult it is to build the engine with gear-box in a Caterham?

Which things have to be considered?

Which additional parts are needed?

Thank you for help...

As far as I know nobody has put an S2000 engine in a Caterham. The Honda CTR K20A is the one that fits without too much trouble. S2000 engines have gone into Westfields and Birkins(I think), and as the engine seemed cheap I thought I'd put a post up - I wasn't suggesting putting it in a Caterham . . . *thumbup*

J351 TPE . . . battered old X/Flow

Thanks all for help.

In Germany actually drives a Caterham with HondaS2000 engine. The owner converted everything in self-work, according to own data over thousand working hours. He does not communicate his knowledge however, therefore he is not an assistance. Also against payment he betrayed nothing. ☹️

The change contained however weldings at the framework, since the engine does not fit in so easily.

Then I will look now for a K20A-Motor to build in my caterham *wink*

Thats the problem !!! *confused*

I don´t know exactly, what i´m do in the future.

I have a Ex-Challenge-Caterham from the german Caterham-Challenge with cage, ap-brakes, 6 speed gearbox etc. The original 1.6SS k-series lies in the garage and was replaced this year by the 1.8 VVC and a 4-2-1 exhaust without catalyst. I drive with the car to 95% on track days and club racings.

The options are now for examples:

- blank VVC and tune the rover up to 200 bhp by DVA

- replace rover by zetec and tune up to 200 bhp

- replace rover by Vauxhall and tune up to 220 bhp

- replace rover by a bike engine

- replace rover by a Honda engine

It´s a question of the costs and the attainable performance.

My dream: with the smallest costs the best performance. 😬

Try talking to Mel at RAW ENGINEERING. They specialise in toyota 4age engines. They do a very reasonable 1.6 16v upto 175 bhp but the engine is tunable to 240bhp check out their website and other 4age site on the net. The engine is strong, light and Mel will give you honest opinion.

I am currently fitting one of there 20v varients but less power than I think you are looking for. Very revvy engine 8500 standard, and sounds great. Give it a try, I think you will like the cost too....

Cheers Nigel. I will of course be keeping everyone informed how my upgrade from crossflow goes.
