  1. Thanks, Mark - we'll see you there. Andrew
  2. I'm really looking forward to my first visit to Aintree on Saturday (even though the weather's not looking too promising). We're travelling to Liverpool on Friday evening, hoping to arrive at 8.00-8.30. Just wondering whether to leave the car and trailer at the track when we arrive, or to just park it at the hotel for the night. What's anyone else doing? Andrew
  3. 4 x 185/60 R13 80H medium compound Yokohama A048 tyres, virtually as new. These were bought as track day tyres to replace my old CR322s, though I only did one event, hence their condition. As I now do the Club's Speed Championship on A539s the 048s are surplus to requirements. Pictures can be viewed here. Date codes seem to show that 2 tyres were manufactured in 2005 and the other 2 in 2006, but they were all bought at the same time in October 2006. As can be seen on the pictures there is virtually no sign of wear. £55 each. Can be collected from Alford, Lincs or Coalville, Leics and delivery may be possible by negotiation. I shall be doing the Aintree sprint on Saturday week and can bring them there if this is more convenient. Andrew
  4. Just got back from a great day at Harewood. The scenery, weather and the adrenaline rush of going through Farm then up the hill towards Quarry made it perfect. Although I didn't make any impression on the Class 1 leader-board I was pleased that all of my runs were a bit better than the one before - I now desperately need the help of the Harewood Driving School! Well done to the Class 1 gang - yet another excellent day of rivalry and banter. See you at Curborough. Andrew

    Loton

Another excellent day's sport yesterday, and a sunny day like last year's made it particularly good. Class 1 continues to be great, with many improved performances. The family battle continues - Matthew and I got identical times (65.57)! Andrew
  6. Well, after all of the jitters about the weather it turned out pretty well - a few sprinkles of rain to keep us on our toes, then a bone dry run for some stunning finishes. Class 1 is really good this year - a great group of super-competitive but very friendly and supportive drivers. I'm really pleased that such a good group of us were able to do battle today at this very special place. I found the split times on the Shelsley computers really good - are these available for us to pore over at home? Andrew
  7. These are brilliant, Shaun! An excellent record of a great day . Andrew
  8. Mark You should be receiving my application any time now - after Saturday's start to the season at Goodwood I'm really looking forward to Curborough. Can't guarantee such a close finish though! Andrew
  9. Just for the record - we are still speaking. He could be quite determined at Curborough, though - I reckon ASBO's in for a right thrashing! Goodwood was brilliant - a lovely day and great setting for a Saga Sevener's first class win! Andrew
  10. Hi Geoff. Count me in for this if it's not in the week commencing 11 August - my daughter's getting married on 15th and it might be a bit tricky getting official approval .
  11. Never thought I'd make an appearance here - sorry it took so long to spot myself on 'Spotted'! Yes, it was a lovely day for a blat. Went from home in Alford to Horncastle then back via Fulletby and Tetford. The roads across the Lincolnshire Wolds are great - it was well worth getting my car thoroughly mucky! Hethel

It's all gone a bit quiet regarding the Hethel sprint following concerns that entry numbers were low. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that 'no news is good news' and that it's still taking place. Andrew

    Spa

Thanks to Geoff and BookaTrack for the best trackday I've ever done! When I got up on Wednesday morning I was really disappointed that it was wet. Jonny told me that he thought that Spa was even better in the wet than in the dry, and he wasn't wrong - I learnt more about car control in that day than in any driving experience I've ever had. Like Rich, I hope that the low turnout doesn't prevent it from happening again. Andrew
  14. Hi Mark Could you put me down for one size L, please? Thanks, Andrew
  15. I've just received my DRE shift light from Mike's bulk buy and it looks great. Could any fellow Blatchatters give me some really simple fitting instructions? Any suggestions, particularly with pictures, from anyone who's done this would be most gratefully received. It would be ideal if the unit could be unplugged easily for the tonneau to be fitted. Thanks Andrew
  16. I'll be interested if the date works for me. Andrew
  17. Any other Lincs sprinters out there? As an out-and-out novice it would be good to meet others with experience of competition.
  18. Looking forward to having a go with my son (see earlier post). Not looking forward to getting thrashed by him.
  19. I had the migrating bearing problem in my live axle car. I seem to remember that that there was a solution in the form of uprated half-shafts to prevent it from happening again. Andrew
  20. Finally got round to getting my nose cone painted. When it was masked off a 4" band looked far too wide. I phoned Caterham Midlands who couldn't have been more helpful - they measured two cars in the showroom and both had a 2.5" band. That's what I went for and I'm really pleased with the result. As the same question was put by Catastrada recently I thought I should put a comment on this thread. Thanks to those who offered suggestions - I daresay a 4" band would be right with a bonnet stripe but not without. Andrew
  21. Catastrada - pictures sent. Enjoy! Andrew Edited by - Andrew Willoughby on 16 Nov 2006 22:48:07
  22. When I took my car to be painted a 4" band looked far too wide when it was masked off. Phoned Caterham Midlands who measured the noseband of two cars in the showroom - both had a 2.5" band. That's what I went for - if you want a picture of my car please let me know (it looks right to me). Andrew
  23. Bozz The problem was the dual mass flywheel, but as for the exact cause of the judder I don't know (you'd need to talk to someone more mechanically minded, I'm afraid). I must say that I had no difficulty with my dealer (Stanwells of Boston) - replacements were carried out twice without question. It's certainly made me wary of the car, though, and I shall probably sell it before the warranty runs out for fear of picking up the bill myself in the future. Andrew
  24. I've had 2 new clutches and flywheels on my 2004 Passat TDi 130, first time at about 18,000 miles, the second at about 28,000. They were replaced both times under warranty. Symptoms were exactly the same - clutch judder when cold, disappearing when warm. The dealer claimed that this wasn't a known problem on Passats, though Honest John's forum seems to suggest a general VAG fault here Andrew
