  2. one pair of brand new, never fitted, still with wrappers Bridgestone RE720`s 185X60X13. I want £60 for the pair. E-mail or tel 0117 9239941. Could deliver to Llandow. Cheers Rob
  3. You have too much oil in or the windage plate or the foam baffle are missing from the sump.
  4. I have had this problem before removing the discs look carefully at the outer edge of the discs and check that there is not a high spot that is hitting the anti rattle shimms. This will usually happen as the disc gets hot and expands and may not be evident when cold. Caterham replaced my Alcon discs under warrenty as they were running out by 10 thou but this turned out to be and inaccuracy in the hub and the new discs did not solve the problem. The solution was to file 1mm off the offending pad rentaining/antirattle shims a 10 minute job.
  5. Allan, I have e-mailed you please call me on 0117 9239941 thanks. Rob
  6. I can recomend Slipstream Trackdays. I have recently been with Easytrack and Bookatrack but both these days were spoilt by repeated track closures following drivers coming off the track and breakdowns, we had 10 stoppages at one of the days. Castle Combe are doing their own trackdays which are super value at £139 which includes lunch and these are poorly attended so you get plenty of track time on an uncrowded track ring them direct to book. Rob
  7. I just sold a set for £240 for the rims and £25 per tyre they were perfect having covered 300 miles. So £60 per wheel and £25 -£50 dependant on the tyres.
  8. Tony Deduct the Parcel Force £10-10p. My Telephone number is 0117 9239941 if you want to discuss. Rob
  9. Bridgestone RE720`s are road tyres and have a harder compound than either 32R`s or ACB10`s. As road tyres they are considered by many to be currently the best suited the the 7 and are approved by the MSA and are 1A listed. I am advised that the tyres have a dual compound construction and that buffing them down to 4mm exposes the softer compound thus maximising the grip and staying within the rules, ideal for sprinting. I am located in Clifton/Bristol. Edited by - Rob walker on 12 May 2002 15:45:27
  10. Four 13" X 6" Caterham Supplied Minators Ford PCD finished in silver. Fitted with Bridgestone RE720`s 185/60/13 the List 1A tyre of choice. The Wheels and Tyres are as new having covered only 300 miles. I want £350 for them which includes postage or could deliver to Curborough next week end. Rob.
  11. Gary, There is no need to be too choosy with this engine, it will run happily on standard unleaded however if you intend to thrash it on track there is no harm in treating it to Super Unleaded or Shell optimex for piece of mind.
  12. Peter, The reason your pump self primes is that the oil level in your Belltank is higher than the pump therefore the oil fills your pump by gravity. This is not the case with the wet sump set up, when the pump has to lift the oil out of the sump. If you look at the pump internals the rotor runs a clearance of up to .006" for the Rover sintered rotor and .010" in the case of the QED steel rotor within the outer rotor, in view of this clearance the pump will not move air unless there is sufficient oil present to make a gas tight seal between the rotors. 13. Peter, I am affraid I do not agree with you that the pump can pump air, it is as you rightly say a volume device it can pump oil with air in but not pure air, put an old pump on an electric drill if you doubt me and hence the need for the pump to be primed with oil on assembley. In my posting I said that the pressure was created by the pump forcing a volume through the oilways and that it was this restriction that caused the oil pressure not the pump.
  14. Nig CHANGING THE HEAD GASKET WILL TAKE ABOUT AN HOUR. I think you have been eating Cheese again . I would like to see you do it in an hour, more like four hours.
  15. Pete, If your previous 7 had a standard colour the chances are that the wings would have been a gel coat finish and not painted. Unfortunately the painted rear arches chip very easily.

    Rear Toe

The rear should toe in 20 Minutes.
  17. Peter, When fitting the sleeves Reg Price advised me to space the bottom metalastic bushs with a washer allowing the sleeve to clear the DD tube but still not allow the sleeve to turn past the two machined flats.
  18. Minty, I doubt Simon will sell off the wheels without the car, you could call him and see if he will part with a set.
  19. Jon stand corrected the Rover oil pump cannot pump air it relies on the oil being non compressable in order that it can create pressure by forcing a higher volume of oil through the engines oil ways, this restriction causes the pressure. Pure Air would not be moved through the pump at all.
  20. Comes with 2 sets of 6X13 minators one set of slicks and one set of wets. Half tonneau and drivers half door.
  21. John, Do not check the injectors as per the above posting. The injectors should never have a constant voltage appied to them, also you need to know that all four injectors flow the same fuel within 1%. Its not accurate enough just to squirt them in a measuring cylinder. Take them to your local Bosch Service Center and have them properly cleaned and flowchecked then you know they are working correctly before you waste money on mapping and spoiling your new engine. This is not an area to save money be warned.
  22. Nick, 100 oil temp and 90 water are far too high for a drysumped K especially just pottering around on the road and with an oil cooler fitted. My highly tuned K is dry sumped but I do not have an oil cooler and I don`t see these temps on the road. I have the 74 degree stat fitted and thats what the water stays at my oil is 70 to 80. Your engine should not be venting water, it should be a sealed system to prevent the coolant boiling, modded to vent water sounds very suspect IMO. Its difficult for me to suggest a definative cause but my gut feeling would be that the coolant system is airlocked or the head gasket has gone. Rob
  23. 6" are normally ET18 the SLR& R500 6.5" and 8.5" are ET23.
