  1. If the old cap showed signes of burning or arcing around the ht posts inside the cap could be the rotor arm has been incorrectly timed when the 633 cams were installed. if so the new cap will have a very short life .
  2. The fuel tank would not have been removed to install the roll bar or carry out a service. Check the connecting plug at the fuel pump side of the tank and have a look at the inertia switch on the front bulkhead.
  3. Remove the 1.4 and use this as a guide to how much needs grinding away to fit the starter motor. The 1.8 out of the elise will have no spigot bearing what you will need is the special sleeve that shims the rover hole in the end of the crank to size the ford spigot bearing Caterham parts will supply cost is around £10. Some care is needed when driving in the sleeve and bearing or you will just buckle the sleeve. I advise you to file a taper or lead on to one end of the sleeve and adjust its outside diameter using emery cloth until its a good tight fit into the crank.
  4. With the swirl tower and full drained ie the belltank bottom removed around 5.5L
  5. That place in Kent hasn`t even got any, they are sold out awaiting a delivery.
  6. I would listen to john freeth he knows what hes talking about. The Pagids may seem expensive but I have found them to last a very long time and this makes them good value. especially if you can get away with the standard brake set up.
  7. If you don`t like the repeaters on the wings or sideskins why not fit the tiny 25mm Fiat Coupe ones to your headlight bowls. my car passed its SVA last week with these without a problem. Cost is around £20 .
  8. You won`t have any problem with high oil temps on track with the dry sump. I agree there is a problem with getting some heat into the oil in the first place.
  9. Simon, I think a stay is a very good idea. I fitted one on my new car after the TB`s came loose last year at Brands Hatch.
  10. Dave Jackson has a one week old Banner for sale as hes fitted a race battery today. Tel 01633 893929.
  11. The latest tube is made from thicker material and has gussets around the damper mounts. Much stronger. Rob
  12. Steve, sent you e-mail regarding the Rad Rob
  13. A company called Gosnays 01708 740668 sell compression adjustment shims. Basically a stainless steel shim which takes the shape of a head gasket, this is sealed to the head with a special sealant and you fit the head in the normal way.
  14. Steve, Its good practise to leave the battery conditioner permanently connnected. You can buy a conditioner which is exactly the same as the DMS just rebadged for £ 35 plus Vat from PowerVAMP 01934 643000. they also sell Hawker batteries at keen prices. I have just fitted a PC625 which is used on Jet ski`s and is a very robust battery £56 plus vat.
  15. Caterham have supplied my new kit with a Toad Powerkey immobiliser system. Anyone know if this is compatable with the Rover Mems 1.9 ECU as I plan to run with the Emerald M3Dk on an EU2 wired K. I need to know how its wired into the vehicle loom and if it feeds a code that could be recoginsed by my ECU?? Thanks Rob
  16. I need a Rover/Lucas 5AS immobiliser unit and matching plipper keys. This was standard fit on early K installations 1996 to 2000 can anyone help please?
  17. Masha, I will have the 6 speed gear knob please, let me know where you want the cheque sent????? Cheers Rob
  18. Gary, disconnect the inertia switch on the bulkhead or you will be spraying fuel into the engine as you crank.
  19. The other tried and tested method is to up the fuel pressure to around 4 bar. Certainly the cheapest option.
  20. Its held in place by a circlip, You can remove the circlip witha small screwdriver the sperical joint can be be withdrawn from the wishbone after the removal of the nut at the bottom of the upright. The joints cost £30 from Catreham.
  21. I think you have answered your own question. It can take 15 miles to warm the oil so your not likely to see full operating temps on a sprint. When I ran an apollo 80 was normal on a varied throttle however on high speed constant throttle on the motorway 100 was not uncommon. On track days I have seen 120 which is too high. I think a laminover is a worthwhile addition.
