  1. Pagid black RS14 are available for both the uprated front and stock sierra calipers. If you fit the same material front and rear the brake balance will be near perfect. Cost is around £130 for the fronts and £120 rears from performance braking tel John Freeth on 01600 713117 top bloke. the pads may seem expensive but they are very durable and will almost double your braking effort without eating your discs, worth every penny IMO Rob
  2. Arnie, I have the 680 fitted on the standard caterham battery tray on my car. It stands vertically you need to mod the fixing strap to accomadate the narrower battery. In my opinion the 680 has too much capacity for our application the best size is the one I got for Dave jackson a 580 this has proved big enough and mounts neatly on its side within the stock battery tray. Rob
  3. Just a thought you have got the correct driveshaft for that side of the car. One side is shorter than the other, the driveshafts are specific LH or RH.
  4. I exchanged the new Landrover driveshaft for one of the old sierra type on my previous caterham without a problem it was a straight fit. There must be something wrong with the new drive shaft that you have been supplied it certainley should not be shorter. If I were you I and in view of your problem I would ask Caterham nicely to refund you on the new shaft and ask them to send the old driveshaft back to the manufacturer GKN Driveline for a replacement joint to be fitted. It should save you a packet. GKN will not deal with direct be warned.
  5. Lay the new shaft next to the old one the splined end should be the same, if its not query it with caterham.
  6. Anyone know if aftermarket workshop manuals are available for cars fitted with the Duratec. I was thinking of Haynes books of lies. Rob
  7. Still ambiguous sorry , one for the driver and one for the passenger.
  8. Luke, I need two pairs of harnesses. I haven`t decided exactly what spec. Rob
  9. I have fitted them, they are billet and run bigger bearings and a massively strong stub axle. they are a straight fit to the stock upright. Benifits are less stub axle flex, bearings can stand higher loadings and they have a better weather seal. One problem I have found is that its difficult to adjust the preload on the bearings as the thread machined onto the stub axle is too coarse IMO and this moves the castle nut too much between castlations. I had to adjust the thickness of one of the shims to effect the correct bearing preload. Nice bit of kit shame about coarse thread. I think they are standard fit on all new cars.
  10. Pagids work out much cheaper in the long run, very durable and they don`t eat your discs.
  11. Nig, The fuel pressure reg in the picture looks like the caterham supplied uprated one. Identified by a slightly dished face and a red spot on the face. This was done as a dodge by caterham to adapt the 1.6SS ecu mapping the run the 1.8SS. The standard one has a flatter face and only a green spot on it.
  12. Nig, I note that you are running what looks like a modified pressure regulator along with the SAAB injectors. This is crazy the SAAB injectors are overcapacity running 3Bar standard fuel pressure , I strongly suggest you replace your regulator with the standard one before you re-map the car. Spacers look nice BTW Rob
  13. The smaller the piston area the less the braking effort. Fitting the Golf calipers will reduce the rear braking effort. This may not be a bad thing if you are sticking with the standard front setup.
  14. Mike, I also tried the edge sm from Cambridge, it didn`t fit and had the wrong pinion and wrong offset, i found them useless to deal with and they also told me that they supplied caterham which i do not beleive. I Fitted a trent unit in the end it works a treat. CC are currently selling a 1kw Bosch series wound starter motor which is very powerfull and should do the job nicely. Rob
  15. Steel, I said it was the standard one.
  16. Brand new standard master cylinder supplied with my 2004 kit .
  17. £56 for a Hawker Odssey PC625 from company called PowerVamp Ltd 01934 643000. This battery is used on jet ski`s has loads of capacity and is very robust saves you 2.5 Kg. You could go smaller PC545 save more weight but have less capacity this battery is slightly more expensive.
  18. On thin tube or box section its only too easy to get the joint too hot.
  19. As the 5&6 speed installations use the same bellhousing the dry sump belltank will fit either as a straight fit.
  20. The main problem when brazing using gas is that it is a totally uncontrolled process you direct the flame onto the joint and what temperature the joint gets to could be anything up to and above the melting point of the parent metal when its only necessary to heat the joint enough as to melt the brass filler rod at around 550C. The extra heat if appied causes the brass to oxidize and the steel becomes brittle in the joint area, you get a dirty joint with holes/bubbles in the brass filler.
