  1. Myles it sounds to me that your ignition timing is way out out (too advanced) try pulling of your coil feed and see if the starter can crank the engine. If it has no problem then your pistons are being forced back down the bores. The Brise should have no problem turning your engine. Rob
  2. Immobiliser especially if you leave the keys in the ignition with the Toad system
  3. Jenvey advised me against fitting an adjustable pressure reg said they were useless unless you buy a very expensive one. They supplied me with Weber fixed pressure reg which works well
  4. I assume you mean the clutch slave cylinder that is integral in the belltank. I have done a few of these the only difficulty is getting the inner seal into the bore as the square outside edge of the seal has to be compressed in order to get the seal and piston into the bore, I cut a piece of ali coke can to make a sleeve that would hold the seal outer edge down whilst entering the bore. You have to pay cafefull attention to removing any sharp edges or burs or these will damage the seal. Also coat the seals with silicon grease and refill the system with silicon brake fluid this will act as a lubricant and prevent the seals from sticking to the bore when running at oil/engine temps. a tricky little job have patiance. Rob
  5. How do you know it will be good weather ?
  6. I just put a brick behind each wheel and use a 24" breaker bar.
  7. IMO a much better engineering solution fitting flex brake hoses to the ( Seirra) floating calipers. I am advised that one should never fit a lock nut onto a male fitting that seats into a taper seat ( the Tee on the de dion tube) the reason being that the lock nut is working in opposition to the thread pulling the taper onto its seat. Putting a copper washer under the lock nut would also serve no purpose as any fluid would pass bye the copper washer and leak through the threads Rob
  8. Ammo, I cannot see why fitting a high capacity rad should make the car run too cool if the thermostat is doing its job properly. I had a report back from Tom Hood last night, he spent the day at Silverstone GP circuit yesterday with his 280 bhp Duratec doing lap after lap as there were only 25 people on the BRDC track day and it was an open pit lane , he reported that temps stayed in the 80`s and he runs the standard CC ali rad and Mazda thermostat. He also reported that he was able to blow away every other car on the circuit inc Porkers GT2 & GT3`s , the car generated a lot of interest due to its pace. A happy bunny I think I am still patiently waiting for a drive in this car. Rob
  9. There are several other factors to consider other than cold bite . The more expensive pagids the coefficient of friction increases as they get hot circa 700C, they also do not eat your discs and the friction material is more durable so if you can afford the RS 14 & 15 go for it.
  10. Ammo You must have misunderstood Pagid Blues are never £95 + V per caliper. That will be for the two calipers , pagids are normally priced per pad. You will have excellent cold bite with the blues 0.5u Rob
  11. Somepeople can sell sand to the Arabs
  12. Peter, I checked into the MG installation on the 75 V8 and it runs a set of brake shoes within the bell of the disc. Effectively a drum set up using the offset portion of the disc. Rob
  13. Ammo Performance braking tel number is 01600 713117 and John Freeth is your man. Top bloke. If your budget is a little tight I would fit pagid blues if you want the best fit the blacks RS14.
  14. Tom7 your getting things the wrong way round the gL5 is indeed slippier than GL4 but this gives a worse gear selection as the syncro`s cannot grip the cones. As for MTL this is GL4 grade and I have done over 20K miles using this stuff in my own 6 speeder and looked after cars with the type 9 never had any problems whatsoever.
  15. I would advise against using the shrunk seat as a base as mine continued to srink for at least a year by which time it would only fit a short Quazzimodo
  16. The latest car I have just built the top mounts were a mile out and needed 4 thick washers on one side and only one on the other and I really struggled to get the diff in. On my own car the mounts are equally spaced.
  17. Are you sure it won`t fit its not the bulky reduction gear jobby?????? The cost of the magnatron unit has tumbled i was quote £85 plus vat they used to be double that.
  18. I am still confused, the pump pushes into the housing inside the tank and the only other connection is externally a euro connector at the end of a 150mm black flying lead. The black epoxy filled bit on the outside of the tank should not have been disturbed I know it looks like a plug but its not. Rob
  19. I had the shrinking problem on my second seat. The conclusion I came to was that the first seat Dave Jackson weighed out the two components 50/50 the second seat was done by volume and guess what the two components have different density/weight. Rob
  20. Mike from memory my black flying lead exits through a black plastic cup that is filled with some sort of white epoxy sealant. Presumably this provides the seal. Its a standard Rover fuel tank pump housing, however I have fitted the uprated pump to this. May be this is a silly question but why did you remove the white connector from the housing ?. 21. Yep easy to fit, fasten some ali box section or angle to existing holes in the floor and fasten the seat to the box section using pan head bolts. Ring Peter Williams 0117 3732451 he has fitted them to his car and they look nice.
  22. Makes a big difference when you have got some miles on the clock 10K at least.
  23. Tillet make some very inexpensive Kart seats for CIRA £90 or make a foam one.
  24. Simon if you have money burning a hole in your pocket the latest Bosch 1kw permanent magnet R500 starter from Caterham is the one to go for £220. Small and very powerfull. Rob
