  1. I tried EBC pads on a motor bike they grabbed and squeeled and faded. I recon EBC stands for extra bleeding crap. Sorry Andy on a serious note the green stuff is a soft pad all you can try is filing a 45 degree chamfer on the leading edge and clean up your discs with 1200 emery paper then degrease with carbon tetrocloride or brake cleaner. Also check that your wheel bearings are correctly adjusted ie no play.
  2. Mike, 250bhp 2L or 280bhp 2.3L. It starts to get expensive to go above these levels as a steel crank is advisable. Rob Edited by - Rob Walker on 23 Dec 2005 17:15:27
  3. Tom Hoods 280BHP 210Lbs Ft Duratec just pulls away from my 233bhp K when I have run out of grunt on Hangar straight at Silverstone. Should also mention that I am on slicks hes on two year old 32`s, when he gets some good rubber it will leave my car for dead no question.
  4. What happened to the paintstripper idea, is blasting the paint off not going to make crack detection more difficult????????
  5. There is a new SKF bearing and carrier . It looks like the one fitted to the VX running the belltank but pushed onto a plastic carrier.
  6. I have seen the pulley come off also. I slide a 1/2" bar through the holes in the pulley then tighten with an allen key. A TINY bit of loctite on the thread also.
  7. I used hammerite Satin Black on the last Duratec I built it is perfect for the job, I sprayed it directly onto bare metal that had been degreased and lightly abraded with 600 wet and dry. Very good results.
  8. Mine were new. The problem is that the side tanks are not braced, merely held by the core and with time the tanks work loose from the core and they leak.
  9. Mark, I am interested in the VVC plenum, is it complete with the thottle body? Rob
  10. I have had three they all leaked after six months. A better option is a radtec radiator they will be on show special price if you visit the Autosport show 14 /15th of Jan at the NEC cost should be around £180 inc vat.
  11. I am looking for a standard Caterham fit 5 speed type 9 gearbox, anyone got one that is surplus to requirements????????
  12. If the salt has done that to your rims I would worry what its done to the rest of the car. The other thing to think about is the mating surfaces of the split rims if salt has got into this joint the mag centers will corrode in no time. Mag split rims and salt are not a good combination. If you must run on salty roads get some cheapo rims and keep your exotic MB`s for better weather.
  13. Yes they both look identical the JPE has the number 6443228 C 2270-1 on it and the standard 6443227. JPE pumps 27g/s and the standard 19g/s
  14. I have both Farndon crank and rods fitted to my engine and both are very good products. the Rods are EN24 steel and are H section carrillo pattern with bronze bushed little ends. They can supply interference fit little ends if you require them. Doug Kiddie made a crank for my K it was useless .after waiting 6 months for him to make it the crank was not cross drilled as ordered, he had machined grooves around the mains to get around the problem, the crank pins were undersized, the crank was so heavy it better suited a tractor and the counter balance weights fouled the block. Apart from these minor defects it was ok.

There are two versions of the SLR 421 primaries. The one to have is designed for the LHD cars this gives plenty of clearance around the stater motor. The primaries are also a much nicer shape. trouble is unless you are in the know you get the sent the wrong one.
  16. block off bottom half of nose cone with duct tape. Even with reduced air flow I doubt you will see much above 50c on oil temps Edited by - Rob Walker on 23 Nov 2005 20:53:45
  17. Mike, The handbrake is as fitted to a Rover 200/25 Circa 1996 to date, should be available at any breakers yard. Rob
  18. Timbo I agree top gear will be ok with 3.38 diff but what about the other ratios
  19. The biggest problem with the six speeder is the 1:1 top, even with a 3.62 diff this is too revvy for the 2.3 duratec. The quaife pro box is the best option IMO noisy though.
  20. 2L duratec 92Kg 2.3 duratec 96Kg and 1.8 K series 74Kgs all these weights are with aftermarket lightweight flywheels
  21. Hein Gericke not sure about the spelling? They are bikers accessories shops all over the UK and Europe Edited by - Rob Walker on 16 Nov 2005 11:33:52
  22. A thicker more durable film is available from most Biker shops sells under the name "oxford" and cost £16 to cover two rear wings. I have used it for years.
  23. Also used by Scholar in the liner conversion for the 1.9K
  24. Why not stick with the stock 2.3 pistons? I recently measured both the stock combustion chamber volumes and the stock dish topped pistons and std head gasket and the compression ration was 10.3 to 1. Whilst I apprectiate that this is less than ideal for full balls out power it is never the less usable and I can see no reason why they must be junked as a matter of course. I have not had the opertunatey to do any valve piston clearances as yet but recon with sensible cams and not too much lift at TDC the pistons will be ok without machining.
