  5. Looking for a set of Hood sticks & straps to suit 1997 onwards increased vis hood on De Dion standard chassis.
  6. The Ball "jiggle "valve as you put it is to block the flow to the header tank when the engine is running. When the engine is stopped the ball drops away from its seat allowing any trapped air to ascend to the header tank. This eases bleeding and helps to vent any trapped air bubbles. When you start the engine the ball will be forced against the seat sealing /stopping the flow to the header thank. If the small ball bearing is free you should be able to hear it tapping if you squeeze the top hose. If you remove the ball then there will be a substantial flow of coolant to the header tank which is undesirable. It is common practise to remove this valve on tuned engines with TB`s but I always fit a restrictor to reduce the flow. Its my experience that Compression testing is near useless as a diagnostic tool. I have seen engines give reasonable compression readings between cylinders with bent valves and with failed head gaskets A cylinder leak down test is more revealing. IMO if you are loosing coolant and the system is pressurising and there is no obvious external leaks You have a problem and the head needs lifting, sorry. 7. Engine & Emerald ECU sold. Dry Sump equipment reserved for Malcolm Hickey. Rob Edited by - Rob Walker on 12 Dec 2006 14:30:01
  8. Thanks Rob. You are one of only three people that I have allowed to drive my car. Edited by - Rob Walker on 12 Dec 2006 14:24:51
  9. A standard VX injection should run on any ordinary ULfuel. Sounds like your injection is not set up properly or you may have a duff temperature sensor.I would take it to a rolling road and get a mixture check done across the rev range.
  10. David, IMO a 3.62 diff is too tall for a low powered car with circa 120lb ft torque . A 3.92 will be quicker especially if you are forced to use 21/22" diameter radial tyres. Its no big expense to try a 3.92 and swap back if your not happy. The 3.62 was only really suitable for superlites equipped with 20" Diameter ACB10`s. 15. Jack, Read my post, the Emerald will be offered first to any purchaser of the engine. As it stands the Emerald will not run the VVC mechanism, I am not sure if Karl at Emerald has finished the Firmware yet? I know that he has been working on it for sometime. Rob
  16. Simon the JPE used to come with a 290 as std. My first Seven had a 290 momo, it was no problem but I prefer the 260mm. So 280 should be ok. Rob Edited by - Rob Walker on 29 Nov 2006 10:02:07

  20. Hi, Anyone got a R300 400 or 500 short silencer box that they want to sell. There must be some around that owners have swapped for quieter Raceco or such like.? Thanks Rob
  21. Rob, Sprinting is a possibility, Its that time of year when I contemplate what I want to do next year with the car. I certainly did not get enough use out of it this year. Trouble is I have my heart set on having a go at sports 2000 Duratec class but this requires a Nat A race licence so may end up racing my seven or a cheap radical in the Castle combe GT series to get some signatures on a Nat B licence. Cannot make up my mind Rob Edited by - Rob Walker on 23 Nov 2006 13:31:54
  22. Martin, I don`t think that you have been paying attention. It is highly likely that some well heeled competitors will fit 215`s on 8" front rims and 235`s on 9" rear rims these being the soft Kumhos whist the rubber is cheaper than ACB`s the rims are not cheap and the tyres are very soft with a very high wear rate. So what chance has joe soap got who drives his seven to and event on yoko 48`s on standard width rims. Non. You call this competition ? A repeat IMHO a control tyre is needed apart from class 6 and or as Dave J posted a maximum tyre width. Rob
