  1. Due to wide tolerences on some of the wishbone bearing housings some of the spherical bearings are held in with bearing fit as well as the circlip. I use a drift and hammer to shift them. The bearings are available from CC at £26 +vat.
  2. Steve, I sent you the instructions on Wednesday, you should have them now? Rob
  3. Mark, Your not selling off your Hood Sticks and straps by any chance ?????????? Rob
  4. 190 bhp is possible from a 1.6 without much hassle. I ran a 186bhp 1.6k for two years it was a great little engine. Basically its was just a ported head with slightly enlarge valves running on the standard valve inserts,Piper 740 cams, TBS and an Emerald ecu. IMO the 1.6 is a much sweeter engine to tune. I did an article for low flying ( DIY VHPD) detailing the work.
  5. DIY, use a teaspoon , cut the handle off it you can then put the end on your finger and roll out any small dent against some flat material place on the other side of the dent. make sure the area is very clean/ free from dust or you will scratch your paintwork. 6. If it sounds tappety when cold that would suggest you have solid followers. Why not take the cam cover off and check what valve clearances you have? If you are able to measure any significant clearances then you have solid followers. Edited by - Rob Walker on 13 Mar 2007 08:20:58
  7. The uprated (jpe/r500) fuel pump number is 6443228 C2770-1 the standard pump has the numbers 6443227.
  8. All will be revealed when you get it on the RR, was exactly the same exhaust and primaries used on the dyno? Same fuel pressure regulation and same capacity of fuel pump?
  9. If only cyl 3&4 are sooted up then that narrows it down to a HT coil or associated wiring/ecu fault.
  10. If the cat is getting excessively hot then your air /fuel mixture is wrong (too rich) this will give exhaust gases that are too high in hydrocarbons . I would look at airtemp, ECU water temp sensor and connections or duff fuel pressure regulator. I would not use the car until its sorted or damage will result.
  11. Peter, If Titan refurb the pump it will be as new. You never know your luck they may repair it FOC if they think it was a manufacturing fault that caused the failure. I sent one of my pumps back for repair and it was returned as new FOC. Rob
  12. Peter, Before you spend £400 on a replacement, send the pump back to Titan, they will replace the damaged parts and overhaul the pump. I have used their overhaul service and its very good. Rob
  13. I do not believe to size of the intake is the problem, its the reflected pulses bouncing off the the inside of the airbox infront of the trumpets.
  14. Great result Martin. Was the airbox Bernards latest design with increased volume or the mk1? My 1.8K lost 17bhp at peak power and 13lbft torque at 6500rpm, the losses were right across the rev range. However I found the car much more pleasant to drive without the induction roar.
  15. If your using a full skirt piston and the bores were correctly machined to give the correct clearance then the forged piston should be no noiseier than a standard piston. However if you fitted slipper pistons that have very little skirt to guide them up and down the bores then Iwould expect them to be noiseier than a standard piston ecpecially when cold and clearances are at maximum. In short its not being forged that would make them noisy its the piston design
  16. Sounds electrical , I would disconnect the shift lights and try again. Then try replacing the coil.
  17. The parts are from titan motorsport eng tel 01480 474402. the secret to making the slave cylinder seals last is to fill with dot 4silicon brake fluid, this acts as a lubricant and stops the seals from sticking within the cylinder.
  18. Yep play is normal. You can in fact separate the two halfs of the bearing and repack it with some high spec synth grease after its seen some use.
  19. Malcolm, The best stuff to use is the black RTV sealant that Ford use for the front timing cover on the Duratec engined mondeo 2003 onwards. Once cured it is unaffected by oil contact and will not break away inside your engine. Anaerobic selant will not be suitable as the mating faces do not mate close enough. If you really don`t want to use a RTV sealant then you could always use a cut down wet sump gasket, I have done this several times. Rob
  20. Johnty, I can partly agree with you that it is certainly not a good idea to treat a new engine too gently intially as you run the risk of glazing up the bores. However I certainly do not think that its a good idea to thrash any new engine with base mineral oil as its lubricant. This will lead to premature wear, especially in a highly tuned engine where a base mineral oil must be considered to be an inadequate lubricant. Rob
  21. As Tony says its not a good idea to leave the engine sitting over the winter with contaminated oil in, the acids left in the oil from the combustion process can eat away at your bearings etc. Vandervell VP2 bearings are particularly suseptable to this. If you want to get more use out of your oil then do not lay up the car, use it once a week. Just don`t leave it standing for prolonged periods.
  22. Brent, Could be that you got one of my 2.3 maps and they were both for the double injector set up. Rob
