  1. Titanium can be machined, it is widely used in the aerospace industry, I have some 12mm titanium nuts and bolts that were machined , Ducati use titanium conrods , valve spring retainers these are machined. As for bending it this is difficult but again not impossible.
  2. Sounds like you filled with the red ford lub oil that was available at that time. This wa a very high quality lub , I would not change it as it was a fill for life oil.
  3. The seats made by MK are an exact clone of the tillet and even have the same fixings, you can get them for £200 a pair.
  4. Stick them on with silkoflex or the like or even silicon sealant or they will look like a dogs diner if you use screws or rivets as the protectors will deform where they are pulled down.
  5. If you have the Pace system the oil pressure is adjustable on the oil pump.
  6. But if your low oil pressure warning light is coming on then you must have low oil pressure? Changing the gauge to a mechanical one will not change that, only confirm that you have falling oil pressure. I would advise you to have a look at the scavenge gauze filter behind the scavenge pickup in the sump, look for any debris or tell tale signs that your bearings are falling to bits.
  7. As " Tesco " says every little helps. The CSR wings certainly reduce high speed lift and the effect of croswinds. Can`t say that I am convinced by the wiskers though
  8. Transit dream on The ZF is a bespoke competition diff you won`t find one at your local scrappy for a tenner sorry
  9. The air temp sensor is giving a false reading as its measuring the heat soak into the filter backplate as the thread is brass and a good heat conductor , this is not representative of the incoming air drawn in through the filter. I have the same problem and plan to re site the sensor when time allows. Rob
  10. Brent. I sincerely hope that your remark ( I have spoken to people who actually know what they are talking about) does not imply in any way that I do not know what I am talking about ? Instead of talking in riddles why not tell all you know about your problems with the use of the Raceline wet sump pan and specifically how the sump pan caused you to loose oil pressure on a straight road? What is your engine building experience? Rob Edited by - Rob Walker on 1 May 2008 23:07:47
  11. Brent, All I can say is that as far as I am concerned there is no problem with the Raceline wet sump, if you have had oil starvation problems on a straight road then there is a specific problem with your engine and not the sump. Rob
  12. Mounting the dry sump tank high up in the scuttle tray is a poor location IMO. 1. the tank will drain down into the sump when stood. 2. very little airflow to help oil cooling 3. weight high up is a bad idea 4. not easy to effect an oil change. In my installations I always try to keep the bottom of the tank level with the sump if possible, this ensures that the oil will only drain down and equalise between the sump pan and the tank. If the tank is high it is possible for the entire contents of the tank to drain into the sump and even fill the bores if you have 7L capacity. Not good on start up. I had a an old Velocette Bike in my youth this had a high oil tank but had spring loaded ball valves to prevent the oil draining back into the sump. I can also endorse DJ that the Raceline wet sump is all you need on the Duratec. Rob
  13. Peter, The large diameter Freelander caps are supposed to be more reliable. I have had several stock Rover caps fail. You don`t need datalogging to spot a duff cap, the coolant will expand and when you shut down the engine put your ear near the expansion bottle and you will hear the gas escaping. Someone on Blatchat posted a neat idea, drill out the stock cap and install a tyre valve, the system can then be easily pressure tested with a foot pump and gauge. Rob
  14. If buying Toyo 888 suggest Soft SG compound on the front and Medium on the rears, this combination seems to work well.

    Tyre Weld

It has got me home twice in the seven, I have also used it once on my trailer.
  16. Julian, I would be very gratefull if you could measure the replacement Nitrons eyelet to eyelet when fully extended when you get them. I suspect mine are too short also as there is little drop in the suspension when its unloaded Rob
  17. Same thing John. The new CC sequential box is the quaife one.
  18. Road and Race degrease and spray the cases with aluminium paint.
  19. The old tubes toe in 20 minutes, the latest tubes run parallel and have 10mm increased track. IMHO you will find that adding only .5 a degree neg camber will have very little effect and is probably not worth all the effort. Edited by - Rob Walker on 8 Apr 2008 09:47:36
  20. Simon I would fit it along with the new engine , you are wellcome to try mine before you let it go.
