  2. caterham C400 race primaries . I have used several other types and had problems with the first primary fouling the engine bay diagonal braces. The C400 will fit . Rob
  3. Get another quote on a cash/pay yourself basis from another bodyshop, could be a lot cheaper than you would expect
  4. Be warned Wood auto alternators are refurbed and of dubious quality, I have had two fail poor old wild bills failed in south of france wrecking his holiday. It was very hard to get wood to repair the duff units, I wont be buying any more.
  5. Hi Roger, The spreader plate is on the inside of the wing , so hidded it has a threaded bush in its centre and the wing is then clamped to this face with a 2" penny washer and 10mm bolt plus spring lock washer. Good to meet up and see you guys, we had a cracking time at spa. Rob
  6. I took the springs out of my AP four pots, the pads were dragging all the time causing the pads to glaze up.
  7. There is very little room with the Blacktop or focus Zetec.
  8. I fit the airheart spot calipers for the MOT yearly and can confirm that if adjusted correctly they will meet MOT requirements, my car also went through SVA testing with them fitted no problem. The main problem is that they can drag on the disc and overheat / burn out the pads, this is due to them being mounted on a deformable bracket rather than a slide/selfcentering bracket as Airheart intended. I leave the boot floor panel loose and do the final handbrake cable adjustment at the mot station then back it off again when the test is over. Caterham have a installation instruction sheet for the AP uprated rear brake kit for road use, this details the installation for the spot calipers. The pads are no longer available from caterham however Rally Design sell them. If you can`t get the instructions I will try and find my copy. Rob
  9. Box was swapped for a bgh close ratio, I do not know the miles. Also I do not recognise dibs so the first person to ring me and arranage payment gets the box. Rob
  10. For sale standard ford type 9 gearbox , came out of a K series caterham. Good working order £250. Buyer collects from bristol area. tel 01275 371255 or 07963 834138 Cheers Rob
  11. Thanks Dave, car still for sale
  12. The other factor to consider is the reduced oil flow through the engine with the Laminova fitted. This would prevent me fitting one and I would go for a air oil cooler every time. Blank it off for road use though. Rob
  13. BMW 320D SE Saloon, silver, registered Dec2001 this is the facelift model with 150bhp engine, grey cloth seats, manual,Car and paint in very good order with no dents or large scratches. I have owned the car for the past six years it has been a super reliable economical car 55mpg+ out of town driving. It has a towbar and pulls my minno based trailer with ease. The car has covered 123K miles and I have changed the oil every 5K miles so the engine is still sweet. 11 months Mot. I want £3,850 for the car Tel me on 01275 371255 or 07963 834138 if you are interested , the car is in the Bristol area. Rob
  14. Set up correctly the spot calipers are capable of passing the mot test and I even got mine to pass its SVA with them fitted. I agree 100% with you Shad the caterham deformable mounting bracket is the main problem as it causes the pads to drag on one side and the fact that the caliper was never designed to be mounted in this way. The other snag is that using a different friction material to that of the rear pads will contaminate the discs and reduce the effectiveness of the brakes. Solution is to make up a set of pads for the spot calipers out of a worn set rear brake pads. EFA could you elaborate on why the spot calipers may not be MOT legal? Rob
  15. In my experience the integral thermostat within the the oil filter takeoff plate does not work well on the wet sumped duratec. The stat starts to open at around 86C and is fully open at 96C no problem, then it stays open until the oil temp is down to 70C which is too low this . has the effect of cooling the whole engine and the water temp also drops to 70C . Again too low. IMHO it is best to fit the take off plate without the thermostat and blank the oil cooler for road use or to suit driving conditions, I would not fit a laminova as they restrict oil flow. Rob
  16. I modified csr stays to fit my S3. The upper arm needs to be bent outward by 16mm. The wing bolt mount needs to be cut off again outward by 16mm I then welded a small round plate onto this stub . The wings fit perfectly, and I am convinced that they reduce front end lift and the effects of crosswinds. The downside is they are not as effective at keeping stones or rain off the sides of the car. I have the caterham wings but the Mog ones are of better quality. Rob
  17. Roger, Caterham changed back again to a non threaded bush on my 2004 arch chassis, the bolt is a 3/82 unf cap allen with washer and nylock at the radius arm. My 1997 had the threaded bush and plain plus spring washer at the radius arm. Take your pick. Rob
  18. I woudn`t think that there is much to be gained by revving above 7000 as the torque will have fallen off and the engine in stock form is safe to 7500.
  19. Steve, Start at 18 psi cold and be carefull on them until you have done a few laps there will be little grip until they have warmed up as they have been stored . When are you on track are there any spare places ? Rob
