  1. Recently had the belt replaced on mine just short of 5 years old (9.5k miles). The old belt looked as good as new, but having had a belt go on a Clio years ago I now tend to play safe. When I got the belt changed @ CC Midlands, they quoted a suggested 40k miles or 4 years. Although a relatively straight forward job in principle (assuming you have the right tools) getting the pulley off can be a bit of a challenge. Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  2. Near junction T5 of the M6Toll heading south towards Sutton Coldfield. SWMBO cannot understand how / why I did a 60 mile round trip journey in the 7 to have a go on the lottery when we have a shop within walking distance 😬 On the same trip a guy in a yellow Elise paused at a junction so he could give a Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  3. Solo, I had loads of trouble with installing a D-Link wireless router - finally got it working, but couldn’t access any site with SSL encryption. After getting no joy from their tech support I managed to get Argos to replace it with a Netgear wireless router (which installed no problem). A few weeks later I got a follow up call from the D-Link tech services manager. Got chatting and he admitted that a large chunk of the problems he’d looked at were down to connectivity issues through Talk Talk. Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  4. I went to a session @ Curbs organised by Paul Forster and I seem to remember that you can’t kick off before 10.00am. Space / work commitments permitting I would like to come along to see if I could stay on the track this time Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  5. From the same site - Here and here. Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy

    pulley bolt

Bilbo Yes, £56 / hour + vat and they expect to take 2 hours. I guess from previous experience they know that getting the pulley off is the bulk of the job. The guy at the garage I was at this morning said it would be 1/2 hour job once the pulley was sorted. Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy

    pulley bolt

Tony Yes - it's a K series. I was typing quickly on the old Blackberry and forgot to mention the engine type! The guy at the garage gave up after an hour and a half - wouldn't have any money off me for it though. Caterham Midlands want 2 hours @ £108 plus VAT for the labour. Wonder if there is an indy Rover specialists in the Midlands..... Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy

    pulley bolt

At garage now and they can't get the bolt on the pulley undone to do a cambelt change. Any idea on the safest way to undo it? Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  9. Al I’m a potential for class 1 next year. Repeated cajoling from Neil1202 has convinced me that I want to, no, need to sprint next season. SWMBO is far from happy though based upon my grass cutting exercise @ Curbs last year. Interesting to read this thread from this time last year - Why do you not take part in the club sprints?? 10. FWIW, here's the eventual reply from Hotmail tech support. Doesn't really give us any useful info, but what can you expect for free? Hello Steve, Thank you for writing back to Windows Live Hotmail Technical Support. 11. Now it is working, I’m all for leaving it well alone. When I originally added the Blatchat email addresses to my safe list I still didn’t get the notifications through. It could be that there is a delay between making an address safe and it taking effect on the Hotmail servers. Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  12. Thanks, I’ll send this latest log back to Hotmail Support to see if they will own up to changing anything BTW, your latest response has also generated an email to my Hotmail account, so it looks to be sorted (for the moment anyhow)... Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  13. Just got a notify from the Site Manager response to this thread, so maybe Hotmail Support has sorted things and not notified me Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  14. Still not heard anything from Hotmail Support, but surprised to see an L7 Club Forums email notify in my inbox this morning! Not sure yet if this is due to a technical change from either the club website or Hotmail, or just some kind of fluke. Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  15. Nothing in my Hotmail account when I got home from BlatChat (but a couple of junk emails that managed to get through). I’ve raised a call with Bill’s support dept, but not holding out much hope. I got a gmail account when I set up Picassa, so like JACK FLASH I may well change my BC details to point at this email account instead. Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  16. My Hotmail access is blocked from work, so I'll check when I get back home tonight. Many thanks for your assistance. Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  17. BC Site Manager The problem that I have had is with notifications that someone has replied to a thread rather than direct BlatMail between two BC members. Not sure if both go through the same mechanism technically? It is worth reiterating that both the BlatMail and thread notification functions have worked fine in the past. What I’d like to do, if it’s not too much bother, is for you to reply again to this post (which I will have selected the ‘Check here to be notified by email whenever someone replies to your topic’ Option). If you can then chase this through to an outgoing email from the BC mail server to my Hotmail account, I’ll then have some ammo to hit the Hotmail support site with. BTW, I’ll add private.mail@blatchat.com and mailsender@blatchat.com to my ‘safe list’ (for both senders and mailing lists) on Hotmail. I have read in the past that Hotmail are trying to clamp down on spam mail and this site may have got caught up in this dragnet. Many thanks. Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  18. As I’m sure many people do, I sometimes click on the ‘Check here to be notified by email whenever someone replies to your topic’ option when posting on BC. When I do this now I don’t get any notification to my Hotmail account (though it has worked fine in the past). I’ve checked the ‘Blocked Senders’ list and there is nothing there that mentions Blatchat. Does anyone else have the same problem? Could someone provide me with the email address that is used to send out these notifications please, so that I can add it to my safe list? Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  19. Just re-read your initial post, and it occurred to me that we did have problems fitting the new side poppers. We had a variety of rivets, but found that those with the correct diameter were not deep enough to fit through the popper and into the bodywork. The next size up was good for depth, but the diameter of the rivet meant that it was too wide for the side strap on the HH to fit over. The way that we got round it was to go with the larger diameter rivet, but we reduced this by gently running it over a linishing belt so that it would fit inside the popper. Edited 'cos I can't spell propper. Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy Edited by - Blokko on 14 Oct 2007 15:41:52
  20. My missus does something similar - she starts crapping herself when I go too fast in the 7 😬 Seriously though, I’ve had no troubles with my JJ HH. A few things to consider - - My hood requires some serious stretching to fit across the front. The poppers also require quite a bit of pressure to hit home. - Have you got the correct hood? A full cage needs to have a non standard size HH - not sure if there are any other variations in hood size for different types of roll bar. - How taught did you have the ‘guy ropes’ at the rear? I tend to slacken them off to fit the hood, tighten them on fitting and then re-tighten them a few minutes later, just before setting off. - Take a look at the photo's in my sig (added for FTH). Not sure if it will give you any extra info, but you can at least see how my hood is set up (nice & taught). Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy Edited by - Blokko on 14 Oct 2007 15:27:57
  21. Neil Are you coming up against a single file on your hdd that is corrupt? As soon as there is a problem with any file like this, the whole copy will stop. Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  22. Simon Mid Staffs meets are held on the third Thursday of the month. More than welcome to join me next month. I’ll contact you nearer the time… Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  23. Good idea Richard, I can certainly do that Simon if you are interested? There will also be a few of us in the centre of Brum on Thursday for a curry and a couple of drinks if you are interested - see here. Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
  24. Passing Dr Khattak's surgery on Lower Farm, Bloxwich @ 11.30 Monday. I was stood outside the docs waiting for my appointment when I noticed you gingerly navigating the speed humps! Update (1) ------ Well, seeing someone out having a nice drive about in their Caterham convinced me that I should do the same. Bit of grief off SWMBO though, as the whole point in taking this week off work was to work on the house . That said, she was watching a DVD when she should have been revising for her exam / interview later in the week… Anyhow, got the 7 out and went for a local run in the hope of seeing this yellow 7 around. Saw nothing until I was a few minutes from base, when he passed me along the A34 as I was 2 cars back at a junction. I managed to catch up and follow him to his home - less than a mile from my place. And here’s me thinking I was the only 7 in the village. Ended up having a good old chat with Simon. But, shock horror, despite being a L7Club member, he does not use BlatChat. I’ve pointed him in the right direction, so hopefully he will be along here soon to say hello. I think he would fit in well with the mechanical tech bods on BC - he has done quite a few improvements to his K series since he built his car from starter kit (running at just short of 200bhp now). The one bad thing to come out of our conversation was that Simon had just flown along the A5 between Brownhills and Cannock and he thought that he might have got caught by a mobile camera 😔. Unfortunately I also travelled along the same road at about the same time (and I didn‘t do any slowing down), so I might be getting an unwelcome letter through the door in the next couple of weeks . Update (2)----- So, whilst I've been typing this, Simon has registered for BC and posted a response Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy Edited by - Blokko on 8 Oct 2007 14:32:43
  25. Bacon Butty I agree, the current meets are already doing an excellent job, so any Birmingham get together should be an additional social event rather than a new area meet. I keep trying to get my London trips to coincide with the last Wednesday in the month, but without much success in recent times. If you can make it across to the Central London meet it is a good night particularly if, like me, you would otherwise be spending the evening eating alone in a hotel restaurant. I think I’ll put something up on ChitChat when I get home tonight to gauge interest re a quarterly get together in Birmingham for a curry & drink or two… Steve - Orange and Black ex Academy
