My 52 plate ex-Academy 1600 k has recently developed a misfire. Only occurs when the car is up to temperature and was initially intermittent, but is now more frequent. Started off down the plugs / leads / coils route. Leads were out of stock but things were just as bad having changed the plugs. This problem first occurred when I was running low-ish on fuel. I filled the car to brimming - 28 litres or thereabouts (so not running on fumes) and the problem went away. Things were fine until I got about half way down the tank when the misfire reappeared. Initially only apparent when up to temperature, but as time went on the misfire stated to kick in a little sooner and happened at anything above idle (whereas initially it was not apparent if I used light throttle). With the new plugs in today the misfire was there pretty much from the off. Went to the petrol station and again filled the car with around 28 litres of 95RON unleaded. Misfire was there for a couple of hundred yards but then disappeared totally - I run for about 15 miles in a mix of speeds and engine loads with no problem at all. My thinking is to not bother with leads or coils for now and concentrate on the fuel system instead. No noticeably unusual noise coming from the fuel pump. I guess a fuel filter change might be a good place to start. Jingars This is not the first time we have been in the vicinity of each other and not got to meet (Curborough and Midlands Breakfast Club). When you say I ‘got you in the carpark’ - are you referring to one of the 7’s or the guy reaching into the boot of the estate? Here are my photo’s from the day - the first 15 or so from the start line are a bit samey, but I liked the image of the start line banner with the nice blue sky. Shot at iso 400 - a mistake I think. Quite a bit of noise on the images - made worse in Photoshop Elements when I tried to handle some of the exposure issues and extremes of contrast (back to 100/200, lose the polarising filter and make do with slightly lower shutter speeds). Has what looks like a 9 iron between the battery / airbox and block. It moves in a horizontal plane between three different settings - but we have no idea what it does!! Any suggestions?

After a couple of test days at Curborough and then the Introduction to Sprinting, I was planning to enter the Club Speed Series this season (permission finally granted by SWMBO). Unfortunately, due to some unexpected (non Caterham related) bills arriving on the doormat and the possibility that I may not be free for some of the weekends that events fall on, I was planning to delay my rookie season until next year.
