  1. Are these wings (as now sold by RiF) wide enough to cover a 215 section tyre? I was originally thinking of changing to the CSR wings but they are very expensive and require a modified wing stay to fit an S3 car. The DITP style ones should fit on the normal wingstay and are half the price. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  2. Mark - I've done it and will email to you and Rob. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  3. A long shot I know, but has anyone got a roll bar mounted tyre rack for a standard single diagonal FIA bar that they no longer need? Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  4. That would indeed be us on our way to Loton . Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing

  6. Mark - any idea when we'll know if we got in? I'd like to enter the Marshal's sprint as long as we have an entry to the club sprint. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  7. Those numbers are fine! Start worrying when the idle pressure drops below 20psi. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing

    Launch control

Graham Ford is using launch control but that is class 6. I don't recall reading anything in the regulations that forbids its use in other classes. It isn't the same as traction control as it is only activated from standstill. As I understand it, LC works by limiting the revs to a predefined setting for a set period of time. And when my numbers come up, yes I will be specifying it 😬. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  9. The "Race Starter" is a Bosch unit and that didn't fit under my 4-1. I ended up fitting a 4-2-1 to overcome the problem (note early 4-2-1 doesn't fit either). I believe Angus used a hammer to "fettle" the primary so that it didn't foul the starter. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  10. Photos please. I have borrowed one of the proper tyre racks and it is an excellent piece of kit but it does take a while to fit and remove. Your solution sounds perfect for the 2-3 times a year I would need it. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  11. 13" usual combinations are as follows: Avon CR500 - 175/55 front, 205/55 rear Toyo R888 - 185/60 front, 205/60 rear Yokohama A048R - 185/60 front, 205/60 rear Kumho Ecsta V70A - 175/60 front, 215/50 rear (if you fit wide front wings you could go 215/50 front and 235/45 rear). I think it unlikely you will need to shave anything off the de-dion as you almost certainly have the latest tube which doesn't need attacking with an angle grinder to fit the 8 spokes. mixing tyres

Allister - lots of the sprinters use Kumhos. We are using the soft compound for sprinting but a few people are using mediums for trackdays and like them. 175 fronts and 215 rears make a decent combination although you may need to dial out a bit of high speed understeer. Some people are running 215 front and 235 rear but you need wider front wings and wheels for that. I've currently got 175 front and 235 rear as I couldn't get 215 softs when I needed them. Not sure that running Toyo front/Kumho rear would be good as the Kumho's have much stiffer side walls than the Toyos so the ride might feel a bit unbalanced. 18. Neil we were on the right hand side of the track if you are looking up the hill. First lot of photos (rear views mostly) were taken from below the bottom Ess and the second batch were taken between the Esses as cars exited the first Ess. Simon - YHM If anyone else wants copies then blatmail me and I will send them on. They are about 3MB each. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing

  22. Using gearcalc with 13" wheels and 205/55 tyres (Assuming CR500s) With a 3.92 diff 80mph = 4818rpm With a 3.62 diff 80mph = 4449rpm This would suggest you have a 3.92 diff which could be changed to a 3.62. I think there was a thread somewhere about early Duratec R400s having the 3.92 diff fitted due to no 3.62s being available. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  23. Gill and I would like to come and spectate so if there are spare tickets going then please let us know. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  24. As the cat was let out of the bag on another thread , I thought I'd let you know how our day at Harewood went. Gill and I, Tam and Michael, Martin and Julie decided to get some instruction (or sneaky practice as some of you might see it ) at the Harewood hillclimb school yesterday. The four southerners stayed in a Travel Inn Wednesday night and arrived bright and early at the venue (before the locals of course ). After coffee and registration there was a short briefing and introduction to the course and how to drive it. We were then divided into groups of 5 or 6 people to one instructor and walked the course. This took around 3/4 of an hour and was very detailed. Cones had been placed for turn in, apex and exit and we were all surprised at just how late the turn in and apex are - we were told that it was almost impossible to turn in too late! Next we each had a run up the hill with the instructor in the car. We were asked not to go flat out but to concentrate on getting the turn in and lines right and then had a debrief and pointers as to what to try on the next runs. We had another 3 runs up the hill and the instructors were happy to come out with us at any point - I found this very useful and had as many runs as I could with our instructor (Richard Spedding) in the car. Richard helped me get the first corner right (I was turning in too early) and gave me some great tips on Quarry (the final corner). I also got a very good line through the esses allowing me to get on the power much earlier up towards Country. At lunch (very good!) we watched video shot from various corners showing just how wrong we got them and then were back on the course for more runs, this time without the cones. Sadly, the rain set in for the afternoon but we got lots of practice at driving in the wet. Our assessed runs were in the wet which made things tricky 😳. There was more video debriefing at the end of the day before certificates were handed out. All in all an excellent course. Yellow trowel awards go to Michael (luckliy cosmetic damage only and a car full of gravel) and to Gill for hitting all three markers into the esses. The rain was falling hard as we left and Drowned Rat Racing lived up to their name. Gill and I put the half hood up for the first time in over a year but poor Tam and Michael got absolutely drenched crawling through the traffic around Leeds. By our first petrol stop they were soaked to the skin, freezing cold and looking forward to a hot bath, cup of tea and a large whisky! Despite the rain it was a fantastic day and I can definitely recommend the course. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing Edited by - Shaun_E on 27 Jun 2008 10:55:05
  25. Does this help? The bag sits in front of the rear roll bar supports. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
