Hi Simon - Yes you won 😬. Rob heeded your advice and did a 45.80. I didn't and put a wheel on the bank at the first corner slowing me to a 46.5ish. So Rob took the honours beating my earlier 45.89 by 9 hundredths . Everything to play for at Anglesey. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  2. Agree with Dave on startline technique. I use between 2500 and 3500 rpm depending on conditions and bring the clutch up fairly quickly but smoothly, control wheelspin with throttle until full traction achieved and then nail it. I switched from R888 SG to Kumho soft part way through this season and gained a tenth to 64 feet. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  3. GG is the medium compound for R888s - you could switch to the SG compound which is soft. Even better switch to Kumho V70A in soft compound. It does sound like you have too hard rear suspension. Most of the L7 competitors are running somewhere in the 135lbft to 150 lbft range. I am using 150lbft, relatively stiff damping, Kumho V70 in soft 235/13 and get consistent 2.2s times. The other variable is gearing. One of our competitors has a very tall 1st gear and the best he can get is a high 2.4s launch. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  4. Cheers. My Dad is coming to watch and I hoped to get him free entry. £6 is OK but I'll suggest the top paddock ruse. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  5. Did anyone get entry tickets for Wiscombe with their final instructions? I can't remember if we normally get some free tickets or not. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing

So which class is Simon driving in? First it was class 5, then class 3 now back to class 5. Is somebody on a wind up or can't Mr Rogers make up his mind? Or did Kevin just come to his senses? 😬 Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing Edited by - Shaun_E on 9 Sep 2008 11:38:27

It is unlikely that a motorbike lid will have the required approval. The full details are in the blue book but you need either BS6658-85 type A or A/FR, or Snell SA2000 or 2005. My wife has a motorcylce helmet that has BS6658-85 type A approval but most only have the relevant motorcylce approval. A good article can be found on Pistonheads here. See you next year! 8. I've only ever done it in the dry so if it rains you may have the advantage. There - that's my excuse in. 😳 Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  9. Rob - just you keep watching that video and remind yourself to take it easy on Saturday. 😬 Just go nice and slowly and we can all go home happy . Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  10. We made it to the party we were going to in Newbury by 8.00. Not bad since we left Aintree about 4:30. The M6 had slowed to a crawl due to the ferocity of the rain - I hit some standing water which forced it's way past the door and onto my lap . Once we were on the M42 things eased up and it was a relativley painless journey from then. We even saw another 7 on the A34 which was Jersey registered! Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  11. Martin - I'm on the Gemini Business Park - next to the BT site. Will be leaving soon after lunch. I confess to having the half hood on at the moment 😳. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  12. Currently sitting in our Warrington office having driven up here yesterday and then from the centre of Manchester this morning - it's a bit damp out! I can confirm that part worn Kumhos are not good in standing water having a had a scary moment on the M40 yesterday. I think this qualifies as a bit more then psychological rain 😶‍🌫️. Weather forecast for Saturday shows a dryish morning and heavy showers in the afternoon. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  13. I ran my old one direct from the car for a couple of years but it packed up at Curborough a couple of weeks ago. The new one has a big notice in the box "Regulated 12V DC input only" and a wonderful Chinese translation "Unless follow above order, warranty void!" In the interests of not blowing another one up I thought a regulated supply might help. The one from dogcamsport is purpose made and looks pretty neat. For £10 I thought it it would be worth a try. 14. My bullet cam died a couple of weeks ago and the replacement has a big warning inside saying only to use 12v regulated supply. Has anyone found a regulated power supply that will regulate car battery/alternator output to 12v? The ones I have found in Maplin pass the car voltage straight through when on their 12v setting - i.e. un regulated (typically 13 - 14.5 volts). Has anyone else had a bullet cam fail when powered from the car electrics? Edited to say - now found one here 4th from bottom. 15. I've had a look and there are no markings on the lenses. They do look quite different though. Picture here shows the 4.3mm lens on the left and the 8mm lens on the right. The other end of the lenses is shown here but you would have to remove the lens from the camera to check this which would risk allowing moisture in. 16. Oily gave me the same advice about my engine. If it's not showing any signs of misbehaving then leave well alone. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing

  18. Oops - forgot all about this. Will have a look this evening. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  19. Mine mists up as well. It's been back to Stack recently because the tacho needle broke 😔 and they resealed it but it still mists up . The tacho is a stepper motor hence the slightly notchy movement but I've never really noticed it so maybe there is a problem with yours. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  20. It's the focal length that needs measuring but I don't' know how this could be done easily. I'll have a look this evening at the 2 lenses I have at home and see if there are any distinguishing features. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  21. for Loctite 574. Later dry sumps don't have a ring seal. Make sure that every trace of oil has been removed from the mating surfaces and that you have removed any old gasket sealant before resealing. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  22. Black powder coat is an option. Most racers and Superlights had bare aluminium as standard. Most road cars were carpeted. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
  23. Dave - thanks that is just the information I need. I like the idea of the Atom clamps but as you say they could mark the powder coat. Cheers, Shaun Bri - I've driven the car with one of these fitted and a set of wheels/tyres on. They don't affect the handling hugely but I wouldn't be driving at the limit with it fitted anyway. 24. Having borrowed one for an event, I would like to get a wheel carrier made along the lines of those that have been built in previous batches. Would anyone have the Stauff part number for the clamps that were used? I have seen these posted on another link and wondered if they would be suitable. They would certainly make it quicker and easier to fit the carrier to the rollbar - something which I found quite time consuming with the Stauff clamps. Is 100kg SWL likely to be OK for carrying 4 wheels (plus the weight of the carrier)? If anyone has a drawing with dimensions that they would be willing to share with me I would be grateful. 25. My bullet camera packed up this weekend so I need to get a new one. I have been using a 4.3mm lens which is OK but it is quite a wide angle lens and makes things look further away than I would like. I do have an 8mm lens but never tried it mainly because of the risk of getting condensation in the camera. Has anyone used an 8mm lens and if so do you have some example video that I could take a look at. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
