  1. Anyone got a pair of 215 supersoft Kumhos they would like to sell? I would prefer new but if you've got a decent set of part worns then I'll take them.
  2. Caterham are out of stock so does anyone know the length of the dry sump belt for use with the "gold" scavenge pump and the standard crankshaft pulley? Mines shredded into little pieces so I can't measure it ☹️ Guessing from the part number it could be 715mm - does that sound right? Edited by - Shaun_E on 12 May 2011 09:20:01
  3. We had a somewhat catastrophic failure of our dry sump belt on Saturday which led to the demise of the engine. My best guess is that the tensioner failed - the bearing is very wobbly on it now - and destroyed the belt, pieces of which got under the cambelt cover causing the cam belt to skip a few teeth. I have been told that there are 2 types of dry sump belt tensioner - if so, which is the best one to have? Mine was an automatic (sprung) tensioner.
  4. Chris - you need to move the droplink onto the inside of the radius arm as well. Then no need to adjust length. 99% certain that is right but I've been fighting with an alternator tonight and celebrated victory with a bottle of red so will need to double check tomorrow.
  5. Guess what! I used an impact wrench. Thanks all. Had to go to screwfix to get a 7/8" (22mm) impact socket though.
  6. I have just started to fit my Brise alternator which is supplied with a small pulley for a 4 rib belt. Brise have supplied me with a pulley for a 5 rib belt but I can't see any way of removing the existing pulley. Any one got any ideas? There is nothing substantial enough to jam a screwdriver in to stop the pulley rotating.
  7. It will but you will be chucking oil into the airbox. I used to have the same set up and got lots of oil around the engine bay so I have just re-routed it so that the swirl tower goes to the previously unused cam cover inlet and then the cam cover outlet is plumbed to the catch tank - I glued a blanking grommet into the hole in the airbox backplate. So far this seems to work much better. I have got a proper catch tank though rather than the plastic bottle that Caterham supply.
  8. We posted our entry weeks ago and assumed we were in - obviously the sheep have eaten our forms. I will send the forms again so please count us in. Shaun and Gill
  9. The Ferraris weren't there this year .
  10. Hi Barry - strange one this. I normally have style set to "In the Office" but when I click a link to another blatchat thread from within a post, the style changes to "Default". I select "In the Office" again but now whenever I click any link to another page the style returns to "Default". I've checked and it looks like it creates another blatchat cookie which I have to delete to fix the problem. Any thoughts? Shaun

    Goodwood Video

which was 89.93 - a personal best so not a bad result from a tricky day. Hopefully we'll have a new alternator for the Wales weekend.
  12. If you are feeling flush then Demon Tweeks sell a hand operated pump that makes life easy - here. Otherwise get a funnel with a flexible hose.
  13. which was 89.9 something - a personal best so not a bad result from a tricky day. Hopefully we'll have a new alternator for the Wales weekend.
  14. Late entry going in tomorrow for team Elwell. We finally have an engine in the car but it's a bit lacking in power so don't expect great things.

    Pop Rivets

5/32" which is almost 4mm which are easier to get hold of.
  16. Just checked with Dave and the caps are stock - sorry.
  17. Yes I've got the caps as well. I'll need to check with Dave Andrews exactly what they are but they came off an engine with BP285H cams (hydraulic followers). If they are the right ones then how about £110 for the springs and caps. They've done about 20k miles over 5 years. The engine had an 8000rpm limit.
  18. Cheers Dave - guess I'll stop at B&Q on the way home!
  19. Did it bolt straight on or did you need to make an adaptor from a bit of tube? Thanks, Shaun
  20. It has been pointed out to me that my standard Caterham (Piper Cross?) airfilter might not be optimal for my new engine. What air filter is being used on a Bernard Scouse airbox for 240+bhp? It's an 80mm outlet and I haven't got time to modify it to 100mm as I believe some people have done. (Rolling road is on Thursday) K&N do some cone filters that look like they would fit but do they flow any better than the Piper Cross foam ones. Piper Cross sell a 150mm diamter 200mm long filter rated at over 300bhp but would this fit in the engine bay? Thoughts please.
  21. Following my engine upgrade I have the following used parts for sale: Complete set of standard VVC valves (inlet 31.5mm, exhaust 27.3mm). These are in good condition and all straight. £140 Set of Piper single valve springs - £75 Set of VVC hydraulic followers - £100 It's hard to value this stuff so I will consider reasonable offers
  22. Set of 4 K series EU2 injectors for sale. These are from my 1997 Superlight and were working perfectly when removed. They worked fine on my 226bhp engine with a DVA tweaked fuel pressure regulator although they were at close to 100% duty cycle at peak power. £50

    Top Ball Joint

A new one is £21 from Caterham and it's straightforward to fit. You will need a ball joint splitter though. If you count the number of threads showing carefully you should be able to put the new one in exactly the same position as the old one - if you don't you will need the camber checked/reset.
  24. Surely the R400 comes with adjustable spring platforms as standard Edited by - Shaun_E on 8 Apr 2011 14:33:54
  25. The wheel bar they do is excellent - fits to 2 special studs on the wheel. I've also got a shackle type hitch lock but if I was buying again would get the proper locking hitch.
