If they were supplied by Caterham for a road car then they should be E marked.. All this means is that they are road legal. Some were supplied to race series for race use only and may not be E marked. You should be able to find the E mark on the side wall somewhere.

I've always been told to add grip where required rather than reduce grip from the other end! How true/practical this is I have no idea. I know suspension is hugely complex and sometimes counter intuitive but the real world experience with Caterhams suggests that to increase grip at the front one or more of the following are required: More rake (which probably reduces rear grip) More negative camber Toe Out My (admittedly somewhat lardy) Duratec car has about 2.75deg negative camber, a fair bit of toe out (1mm I think but not sure what that translates to in angle) and 20mm rake and it turns in brilliantly. It's not too oversteery so I think the balance is pretty good although it can be a handful in the wet. Bear in mind I'm on list 1B tyres so your A539s might behave differently. I should also say that a lot of toe out makes the car a bit twitchy on the road and it follows cambers/bumps a bit too much but you do get used to it.

I've done a bit more checking and using "AND" still returns some results without both terms but it certainly reduces the number of results and most include both terms. We'll keep working on this.

Signatures from the old site are just part of the post body text so can't be excluded - sorry. Ref Boolean searches - it looks like "AND" does work but must be in capitals. This was pointed out to me by ones of our members (thanks Steve) and a couple of quick tests seems to prove the point. Please have a go with this and feedback here if it looks OK or not. Try : searching For CSR gets 5000 hitssearching for oil gets 15000 hitscsr oil gets 19000csr AND oil gets 500or Duratec oil gets > 31600 Duratec AND oil gets > 2400 The search would appear to cover the entire thread rather than just a single topic/comment.

I put some rivnuts in the side skin and bolted on a cover plate. It's right where the oil filter is making an oil change a bit easier

That is odd. It looks like there is a maximum number of authors that can be listed. If you search for "speedo behaviour" (using the quotation marks to only find that phrase) then you get a short list including your thread and you are now in the filter by author list.

There is a space in the reg number! http://www.lotus7.club/forum/spotted/t589-pbp Your name is only listed if you are the author of one of the results of the search. Try searching for "Vine" and you will then be able to filter by your username. You can see all your own posts by going to your profile and clicking the "Forum posts" tab - in ascending date order so not incredibly useful if you are a prolific poster!

Well we're getting there and it's certainly now a very usable search even if the precision for experienced searchers isn't there. You can see what you searched for in the breadcrumbs above the search box - I get your point about editing it. When I click on sort by date I see a little down arrow beside it (search descending) and if I sort by title I see an up arrow. I tried your search for "cable router" (using the quotation marks) and it only returned 6 results all with the phrase "cable router" in them - not ideal as it didn't return threads with cable and router in them separately but maybe useful. As I find out more about the search tool I'll see if we can add to it. It may be possible to allow a forced AND.

There was an option when I moved it to "leave a shadow copy" which I selected to see what happened. At least it shows the thread was moved rather than the OP thinking they were going mad

Index now completed - try the Sardinia search again and it appears.

The search works well but the indexing of the database is way behind - I've asked the developers to speed that up so the indexing catches up to the present.

Gurston is a great event with the National hill climb championship there (the big single seaters). Practice is on Saturday and competitive runs on Sunday. I have no idea how you would go about getting a relevant licence but the best place to start would be the MSA website. It looks like you need to be a British citizen to get at MSA licence so you will probably need to get a licence from your own regulating body that allows you to compete abroad. Licence notes: https://www.msauk.org/assets/2015competitionlicencenotes.pdf See section 5. UK residents need a "Non-race National B" licence to compete in sprints and hillclimbs. Sprint/hill-climb advice: https://www.msauk.org/Competitors/Guidance-Advice/Sprint-Hill-Climb MSA 2015 regulations: https://www.msauk.org/assets/2015msayearbook.pdf Section K (safety) and section S (Sprints, hillclimbs and drag racing) are the main relevant sections for you. The club has additional regulations To compete in class 1 you need to run list 1A tyres - something like Yokohama A539 but otherwise an ex-academy Crossflow would probably be in class 1. A048R would put the car in class 3. If you post more details including engine mods (if any) and approximate power output and we can confirm. Duratec Superlight would almost certainly be in class 5 depending on power output - my car is also a modified Superlight with a Duratec so would be great to compete against a similar car If you can sort out the right licence it would be great to see you there. To get an entry to Gurston you need to join the club speed championship - on-line entry will be available early in the New Year. You can compete at the club's Curborough events without joining the championship and I am sure the BMMC would offer you entry to the Saturday event on the same weekend giving you 2 days competition.

I used Basingstoke Autocentre on the advice of a kit car owner (we're new to the area). They did a throrough MOT but respected all the "kit car" stuff (emissions, etc.) and even replaced a faulty bulb for me. Don't expect them to turn a blind eye to anything though.

Until recently, you could delete a topic which of course removed all the comments as well. This caused a problem during a recent incident so we have removed that permission. It's not that we don't care it's just that we all have day jobs and can't respond immediately to every request. Also some things which appear simple may not be. Some requests we just don't agree with - we can't please everyone all the time. We have to prioritise the clubs resources and as such are concentrating on the big improvements like performance and search. Shaun

I've not used one but Simon @Meteor was looking at them in detail a couple of years ago so might have some more info. I had a look and tried them on at Autosport last year but the people manning the stand were more interested in chatting up the stand girls than actually helping a potential customer so we left. I'm quite interested in them as they don't need any modifications to belts/seats/etc. and they allegedly provide some protection in side impacts as well as frontal impacts.
