  1. At the moment there are 2 places that record you as having joined an area. One on the old website which manages the emailing to you from the area rep and one on the new website that shows events, etc. in your profile for the areas you have joined. There is an onging project to move the "email area members" function to the new website so that "joining" an area has more functionality. We'll announce the changes properly once they are ready. Gurston Video

Video quality not great, but my T1.
  3. I had a Clarke CIR220 that did the job but eventually the batteries died. It was pretty heavy as well. A good review of wrenches here. I have just treated myself to the Dewalt one which is very good and much lighter.
  4. I will be there - just got to post my entry this week.
  5. The fourth round of the L7C Speed Championship took us to Gurston Down near Salisbury in Wiltshire. Unusually this event, a round of the British Hillclimb Championship, takes place over two days with three practice runs on Saturday and one practice plus two timed runs on Sunday. Saturday was warm and dry but the forecast for Sunday was not looking so good. In the end it was dry until late afternoon when some light drizzle (or psychological rain as some competitors like to call it) affected the second timed run for most. There is a write up on the day on the Gurston Down website and the full L7C results are Gurston Down 2015.pdf.
  6. My entry form is filled in and will be in the post early next week :-)
  7. It is. Arriving Saturday and there for Saturday night/Sunday. New gas BBQ on board
  8. Something strange definitely happened with this thread but I don't know why. If I get any further reports of this happening, I'll get NDP to investigate.
  9. Sunday 17th May saw the club's 3rd speed championship event of the year take place at Curborough Sprint course near Lichfield. This is the spiritual home of the L7C sprint series and is one of just two events that the club organises itself (for the rest we are an invited club at other clubs' events). Some competitors got some sneaky practice in on the British Motorsport Marshalls Club sprint the day before and then stayed over for a BBQ under one of the club's Coleman shelters. Although Sunday wasn't quite as warm as Saturday, the weather stayed dry and we saw some close competition. The full results can be found Curborough Standard 2015.pdf but the highlight of the day was Simon Rogers (pictured) breaking the class 7 record which had stood since 2007 with a fantastic time of 54.24s. On board footage can be seen . If this has whetted your appetite, either to spectate or compete, then the club runs it's next event at Curborough using the alternative figure of 8 layout on 30th August. The next event for our championship is this coming weekend 23rd/24th May at Gurston Down.
  10. The 2001 diagrams in the Guides section should be pretty good for a 2000 model year car. They were pretty accurate for my EU2 1997 Superlight.

    Curborough Video

    Very tidy Simon.
  12. Where have you been Simon? Last year we went in July to try and get some dry sunny weather. The new website has a useful thing called a calendar - all the sprint events are on there
  13. I've not been able to get the pictures to load at full resolution either. I'll have to go back to the developers on that and the PDN issue above.
  14. I used an old damaged bonnet and cut an over large hole in it using a jigsaw. I then made an accurate cardboard template and transferred that to the new bonnet which I covered in masking tape around the area to be cut. I used a jigsaw to cut the new hole, finished with a file to remove the burrs and then stuck some u-channel trim strip onto it. I left a slight gap around the filter to make it easier to get the bonnet on and off and reduce rubbing.
  15. That's weird - which browser/OS? I've just checked on Safari (which I used to write the guide) and on Windows 8/Explorer 11. My Windows machine has paint.net and opened the downloaded file. Can you right click and download? Shaun
  16. Hi Andrew - I've set this up as a separate guide for now. Please check that I have understood your intention correctly and that the links work as you expect. If it's OK then I'll update the other guide to link to this new one. New Guide Shaun
  17. The club's first Speed Championship event of 2015 took place on Saturday at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit. Competing here is always quite daunting, not just because of the history of the place but also the fact that it is a very fast circuit. The quicker Sevens reach speeds of over 130mph on the two straights and for most of the lap you never use any gear lower than fourth! Despite a wet night and early morning, the track was only a little damp for first practice but that didn't stop a few over exuberant competitors from spinning. It dried fairly quickly though and the rain held off for the three timed runs. We even had some decent amounts of sunshine which encouraged a few spectators. Results Goodwood 2015.pdf. The next event is this weekend at Hethel although, unfortunately, spectators aren't allowed. Sunday May 17th sees the club run its own event at Curborough sprint course near Lichfield and spectators are very welcome – better still it's free!
  18. Hi Andy - could you send me a hi-res version of picture 8 and is it OK for me to publish it on this site in the news section? Shaun
  19. Happy to upload further documents if you send them to me and there are no copyright issues. shaun dot elwell at lotus7club dot com Shaun
  20. So that's another one hooked
  21. About 4 litres into the tank and then about a litre into the cam cover was how I was told. If you put too much through the cam cover you'll fill the cylinders with oil It might take a bit less than 5 litres depending on how much you got out.
  22. We've got a set of Titon ones from Simon, set up to adjust quickly for me and Gill.
