  1. Caterham Cars will exhibit at the 2016 London Motor Show - the first major British motor show since 2008. The show is open to the public from Friday May 6 to Sunday May 8 and will be held at Battersea Evolution, featuring new and historic cars as well as motoring celebrities. Caterham will be present throughout the weekend, including the Press and Trade day on Thursday May 5. Caterham will be based on stand L65 in Hall 1, and will showcase the Seven 360R, Seven 420R and the latest iteration of the Seven, the 620S. A race car from the Caterham Academy - the brand's novice motorsport championship - will also be on display. David Ridley, Caterham's Chief Commercial Officer, said: "As a proud part of Britain's motoring heritage, we are delighted to announce Caterham will be at the 2016 London Motor Show. It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase all that Caterham has to offer and engage with the British motoring community. We can't wait to be part of it." The 2016 London Motor Show will take place between May 5-8 and tickets are still available. For more information on Caterham Cars please visit: http://uk.caterhamcars.com/
  2. If you are referring to the Tillet seat then the Tillett B6 is actually a better design as it has the headrest tilted back making it more comfortable with a helmet on and larger HANS compatible seat belt holes. In other aspects it is identical to the Caterham one. Can be ordered in carbon fibre or fibre glass.
  3. Hi Ian - I can't answer about the Longacre stuff but I have discovered that Lifeline do FIA approved padding to fit 32mm bars - I've just bought some! I suspect you'll be able to make the Longacre stuff fit with some zip ties and tape. Chris above has a cage which will be 32mm diameter. Shaun
  4. 88.66s for both of us on the 3rd time run. Rob went first as we were trying to go fastest first so he got the win. He would also have got it on 2nd fastest time as he'd gone quicker than me in a previous run. So slicks vs power = dead heat I'll get the video up later - there was water on the chicane from a car hitting the barriers which led to a slighlty "lively" finish to my run
  5. Looking for pair of rear wings and a nose-cone. Prefer black but anything considered. Not required to be cosmetically perfect but need to be solid/no significant damage. Anyone upgraded to carbon fibre and want to sell their old fibre glass items?
  6. I've never measured the movement but, having taken some material off my de-dion to leave a lot more than the 0.2mm gap above, I still got scratches on the inner rims. I don't know if it's wheel flexing, some movement in the bearings or something else but I would suggest creating a static gap of at least 1mm - maybe 2mm would be safer. This was for Cateham 8 spoke 13" rims. I now use Image 2 piece and not had the issue since.

    Loton Video

    1. Either type some words or paste the link into your post 2. Highlight those words/the link 3. Click the link button above (looks like a chain link) 4. Paste the link into the box labelled URL in the dialogue box that appears 5. Click OK
  8. It's bit disconcerting to have to take an angle grinder to the de-dion but that is what you have to do. Take more off than you think you need to - it's surprising how much a wheel flexes!
  9. Thanks Malcolm - see you at Curborough. Shaun
  10. Hi Richard - I thought Malcolm was going to collect mine but if you have them all then I think there is a 1st place for me (class 6). If so please deliver to Goodwood. Shaun
  11. Anybody got one of these gathering dust?

    Rear wing

As long as it is firmly attached you should be OK.
  13. We repaired my very badly damaged wing with carbon mat and resin (thank you Mr Gemzoe). Not pretty and I've had to cover the top of the cracks with gaffer tape (to prevent splinters!) but it's held together. The better you prepare it the longer it will last - we were a bit rushed so prep wasn't perfect.
  14. Looking for a complete aluminium boot cover as used on Caterham race cars. Any condition and even an incomplete kit will be useful. Thanks, Shaun
  15. 30th September would be very popular with the sprinters
  16. You must have upset Graham and Paul somehow - my role seems to involve and then a bit of later in the afternoon. Oh apparently I have to show some people around - might be nice to stretch my legs a bit.
  17. Having suffered a trailer tyre blowout (on the same day Michael Calvert lost 2 tyres ) I switched to 8 ply as suggested by Mark. My local tyre fitters ordered them in and fitted for me. On a twin axle trailer, if one tyre blows then the adjacent one will likely shortly follow as it gets peppered with steel from the blown tyre.
  18. Hi Chris - as far as I can see there is no MSA regulation on this so it will come down to what the scrutineer thinks of the solution. A couple of the Caterham race series mandate that modifications are done by Arch and certified as such. I had mine moved at Arch last week - they drill the top rail, braze in new bosses in the correct place (as measured with you in the car) and then cut slots in the bulkhead to allow the belts to be bolted the bottom of the rail thus lowering their mounting position. Shaun
  19. Hi Les - what condition, new or used? Also how old are they? Thanks, Shaun
  20. As noted by Chris (C7CAT) it only happened if paying by cheque. I've fixed it now so hopefully you should all be fine. Shaun

  22. Oi you two I feel it is my duty to tell you that Gill has resumed her black belt Ju-Jitsu training. Back on topic - it was also my understanding that the Simpson hybrid is more tolerant of belt position. However, their literature says otherwise and, joking apart, my lack of height does mean that the belts may not have had the correct angle to effectively hold the FHR in place. If the belt slopes upwards from the shoulders then it is fairly obvious that the device could move in an impact. If this is not an issue for you then you will probably be fine. As above, the standard Caterham belt positions aren't even equidistant from the seat centre-line - I was happier having mine moved but for someone with broader shoulders, it's probably not so critical. If you look at the install instructions for 6 point harnesses (ignoring FHRs), they should be in the same position as required for an FHR - if the belts hold you in place properly then they will hold the FHR in place. With the traditional HANS design the concern is that the belts could slip off the restraint in an impact hence the requirement to ensure the top belt mounts are close enough together to prevent this - the design of the Simpson Hybrid appears to be likely less sensitive to this. Ultimately it comes down to your approach to safety. I am naturally conservative in this respect hence my decision to have the mounts altered. Since I had to have the crotch strap mounts added as well, it made sense to me to have all the modifications done at the same time. Arch had already done a couple of modifications for other Simpson Hybrid users. I still prefer the Simpson Hybrid to a HANS design for other reasons (comfort, ease of use, quick release tethers) and am happy with my choice.
  23. Hi Jeff, I bought one at Autosport and yesterday went to Arch to have the seat belt mounts relocated. Although the Simpson device is supposedly more tolerant of seat belt position you still need the key angles to be correct. Arch measured my position seated in the car with the FHR on. They then moved my belt mounts to be closer to the centre line of the seat and also to mount below the top chassis rail requiring slots to be cut in the rear bulkhead. They do this for a standard charge of £200+VAT which includes a certification of the belt positioning and the work done - this has been required by some race series. A number of sprinters have used a plate to relocate the mounts - the dimensions of this may vary so check before copying it (the standard belt mounts aren't even equidistant from the seat centre line). It is possible that a scrutineer will not like this way of doing things. As I am planning on racing I went with the accepted practice but for speed events the requirements may not be as strict (but don't bet on it). I also needed the crotch strap mounts fitting as my car didn't have them so the trip to Arch was worth it. I talked to a local race team and they were reluctant to do the mods for me. Shaun
  24. Thanks Andrew. I have a pair of K12 sorted now but will come back to you if not.
