  1. The Club is delighted to announce that a searchable on-line archive of the Club's award winning magazine Lowflying is now available. Thanks are due to Stephen Hubbard for the scanning and indexing of the magazines and to Roger Ford for building the database and search engine. The archive can be found here: http://lowflying.lotus7.club/ Happy searching!
  2. The club had a great weekend at Blyton Park with the beginners track day on Friday and a full club track-day on Saturday. ESV manager Dave took lots of photos. Blyton Park Novice Day (1) https://flic.kr/s/aHskUshBS5 Blyton Park Track Day (2) https://flic.kr/s/aHskZesgSf
  3. Just thought - why not use a spark tester. you can get those in-line ones but I just found this on MachineMart website: https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/gunson-spark-indicator/
  4. Hi Mark, Although I don't have an MBE I have heard of the coil drivers failing on ECUs - I vaguely remember having a similar issue with an Emerald. I guess the easiest test is to borrow a known good ECU, load your map onto it and test. The fact that it's a pair of cylinders with the problem certainly points at coil driver. Looking at the pinout, cylinders 2 and 3 are off pin 18 so that would certainly make sense with your symptoms. Shaun
  5. I did the reverse and that was painful enough - the Caterham part didn't fit so I ended up butchering it and using bits of right angle aluminium to attach it using pop rivets. I think the footwell is normally part of the interior side panels and floor so to extend it properly you'd need to replace the interior panels, the floor and the bulkhead. You could just extend the panels by cutting new extensions and overlapping them with the existing panels but unless you are a lot handier with a hacksaw and pop riveter than me, its a horrible job. Alternatively just get a shorter passenger
  6. 144 at what RPM? Sounds like the gearing is too tall to me and I'm not convinced a 5 speed really works with a 2.0 Duratec. I run a 3.9 diff with a 6 speed box and 260 bhp at 8500rpm. Maxes out at 130mph but it gets there pretty quickly Aeroscreen is a good bet too.
  7. The issue appears to be that our SPAM filter thinks the website email address is likely SPAM. Tim is having a look at it.
  8. Thanks for the offer Geoff - will seriously consider that.
  9. Sadly my car doesn't qualify but if someone wants to lend me one that does I'd give it a go
  10. Yes there is a problem with the email notifications not being sent. It's a bit weird as the site is still capable of sending emails (I've tested it) so must be unique to the PM notification. I'll report it to our provider when I get a minute.
  11. It's on the list of things to do. Hopefully will be meeting with the membership database suppliers in the next couple of months.
  12. Good news - fingers crossed it goes well. Soon be back
  13. The club is currently putting together a new track-day section for the website and this is exactly the sort of information we hope to provide. My advice would include: Getting a helmet that fits properly is more important than spending a fortune. I would go for a motorsport helmet but they do tend to be more expensive than bike helmets (they attract VAT for a start). Some tracks mandate motorsport helmets in their T&Cs but I don't think they ever check. If you ever get the motorsport bug you'll need an MSA compliant helmet then.MSA recommendation is for helmet to be minimum 50 mm below height of roll-bar but this isn't mandatory on track-days. For club events you will need an FIA/MSA/track-day rollbar.Ensure oil and coolant levels are kept topped up and that wheel nuts are tightened correctlyGet instruction as early as you can, especially on a track you've not been to beforeCome in before you get tired - especially important on the last session of the day when people start to get careless
  14. You need to edit your profile and re-add your picture. An update done a few months ago removed uploaded pictures for many users.
  15. If you don't get any luck here, Mike Riley is still making them: https://racecoexhausts.co.uk/
  16. I run a 6 speed + 3.92 diff for sprinting and racing. I'm on 235/45R13 Kumho V70A so even lower geared than you. Max speed is 131@8500 rpm in 6th but the only place this is a major problem is Goodwood where I'm on the limiter before Fordwater and likewise before the kink on Lavant straight. I can see that at Combe you'd be on the limiter through Folly as well although not for as long (I've not done a track day or race there, only a sprint with this engine and car set-up so don't know for sure). At Brands Hatch Indy I can just hit the limiter before Paddock Hill. If you fitted the 3.62 diff you'd not reach the limiter in 6th with 230bhp. I've got a 260bhp Duratec and at the top end of 6th, even though power is still climbing, the rate of acceleration has dropped hugely and any gains in top speed with a higher diff ratio would likely be offset by the loss of acceleration on all the other parts of the circuit. I have to confess to hardly using the car on the road these days but ear-plugs have always been the best solution - my bigger problem is fuel range - about 100 miles - due to thirsty engine and low gearing.
  17. I would and replace them with 8 ply tyres.
  18. I'm not convinced your picture is a Packard Timer connector. Looks more like a normal Super Seal connector but the clips don't seem to match the current versions: http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/info_LC2KIT.html

  20. Interesting :-) I'd not thought of adding a pdf as an image but as a link. Nicer to see an image rather than another click to download I guess. If I get a minute, I'll try to find a solution for you Shaun
  21. The lack of email notifications was due to an automated job not running. NDP are investigating but I've asked them to delete the queue before restarting the job as there are 10k+ waiting to go and that might cause some issues! Hopefully we'll have a resolution this week. Your picture can be re-added. In fixing a problem a while back related to user profiles, some avatars were lost. If you re-add the picture it should stay.
