  1. Dave - I have the instructions and they are OK except for no pictures. I'll have a look on R300.net as that's really all I want is to see what the finished assemblies looked like. I appreciate the advice to check everything at the counter but I had a huge box of bits and not enough time to check it all ☹️. Yellow SL #32
  2. I am struggling to assemble the bits for my newly purchased dry sump kit. Some bits appear to be missing but the real problem is that I have no concept of what it's supposed to look like. Please could someone post some pictures or point me in the right direction. I would like to see how the scavenge pump/cradle assembly goes together, what the connections to the sump pan look like and a general view of the bell housing with all it's connections. So far I think I am missing "O" rings for the oil sleeve and an oil hose adaptor for the oil pickup/gauze assembly. Also I think that there should be "O" rings on the gauze union that screws into the bottom of the dry sump tank. Thanks, Shaun Edited to remove the rant now that I have calmed down a bit 😳 Yellow SL #32 Edited by - Shaun_E on 20 Nov 2004 14:24:50
  3. Just weighed it and it is 5kg Same as this one here described as aluminium. Yellow SL #32 Edited by - Shaun_E on 19 Nov 2004 21:15:48
  4. I think it's a lightweight one. It's certainly much lighter than the one that we took off a friends crossflow last weekend. If someone can tell me the difference then I can be sure. Yellow SL #32
  5. Dry sump upgrade means I have the following for sale: Aluminium bellhousing for K series (fits 5 or 6 speed box) - £150 Caterham wet sump pan - £130 Also - Pair chrome 7" headlights - some rust around the bottom of the bowl but the relectors are in good condition - £30 The bellhousing is the original one on the car but I can see no damage to it. The wet sump is worn but there is plenty of metal left and no cracks. Pictures: Sump, Bellhousing, lights. Please note the lights will not come with the indicators or mounting - I just hadn't taken them off for the picture. I live and work in Slough - buyer collects or pays postage. Underbody paint

You use POR15 on the bare metal/rust. If the area is likley to be exposed to sunlight(UV) much then paint over with Chassis Coat - also available from Frosts - or a paint of your choice. This is because POR15 discolours with exposure to UV. Yellow SL #32
  7. Yes it uses the spare wheel carrier. Yellow SL #32
  8. Mark, I don't know for sure, but Caterham only offer one dry sump kit for the K-series (there is a separate kit for Vauxhall and another for Crossflow) so I think it is the engine that determines the bell housing rather than the gearbox. This is futher reinforced by the fact that they offer a lightweight ali bellhousing (for wet sump as an upgrade) that is independent of gearbox. I am sure that the Caterham 6 speed is derived from the ford type 9 and therefore they used the same mounting pattern. Shaun Yellow SL #32

    Underbody paint

for POR 15. Available from Frost Auto Restoration - product page here. Yellow SL #32
  10. The normal Caterham size in Yokohama tyres (A021R, A032R and A048R) is 185/60. When Caterham introduced the Avon CR500 it was in a 175 but the actual width of the tread is similar to a 185 Yoko. So if you want Yoko's then get 185/60 but if you decide to go for Avon CR500 (more expensive) then you will have to get 175/55 as that is the size they come in. I can't think of anyone who runs Yokos narrower than 185. Yellow SL #32

    Cheers Steve - that's a relief. Yellow SL #32

    Dry Sump

Clutch will be replaced as will CRB but Paul's comment is the one thing I was wondering. I only thought of it as on the Caterham website they sell the clutch release arm but mark it as "wet sump only". While I am happy to fit standard items (i.e. the dry sump kit) I am not so keen to start making changes that are not so standard. Any other thoughts on hydraulic clutch? I was too late to catch Caterham this evening but will phone them tomorrow. Yellow SL #32

    Dry Sump

Does the kit from Caterham include absolutely everything required? Are there any other changes required (e.g. to clutch mechanism)? I will be going to the factory on Friday and before I buy the kit I want to be absolutely sure that it really is a DIY job and that I won't have to make any unexpected changes to the car. 14. Steve, Unfortunately I'll be in Holland on 24th. I might be able to make arrangements to leave it at my work (about 1/2 mile from M4 J6) - let me try and sort something out. You can call me on 07736 017315 if there is another way. Shaun Yellow SL #32
  15. Steve - Yes I'll go with that. Where abouts are you? I live and work in Slough so you are welcome to collect it anytime or I will be at Penn Sevens 2 weeks tomorrow. I could meet you half way if you're not too distant. Yellow SL #32
  16. Pair of standard 7" Caterham headlamps with Chromed bowls, normal H4 bulb fitting. There is some rust at the bottom of the bowls although hardly visibile when fitted. Pictures here and here. Please note the indicators and mountings are not part of the deal - just the headlights. £30 or nearest offer. Buyer collects from Slough or Penn Sevens or pays postage. Yellow SL #32
  17. Heated windscreen with Ali surround. Well used, with some pitting and minor scratches. All but one of the heating elements work and there are no significant chips or other major damage so could be rescued with a bit of glass polish. Picture here. Please note the rubber seal will not be sold with it. If anyone wants it as a spare or temporary solution or maybe to cut down - £25 or nearest offer. Buyer collects from Slough or from Penn Sevens. I might even be at Seven Stars this Sunday. Yellow SL #32
  18. Search for Wiley XL1 - these are what a lot of Seveners have bought. Yellow SL #32 Edited by - Shaun_E on 11 Nov 2004 12:28:53
  19. OK cheers. I've done a search for spark plugs but there seems to be a wide variety of opinion on what to use. Any recommendations on what spark plugs to use with 1.6 Supersport engine (or what the Caterham standard part is)? Yellow SL #32

    which camera

Yes - if it's the yellow coloured socket on a Sony then that is AV in as well as out. The bullet cam actually uses the playback mode rather than the normal record mode. Yellow SL #32
  21. I want to replace the following items while the engine is out and they seem quite pricey at Caterham - are there other cheaper sources for any or all of these bits? Part Caterham price spark plugs 41.96 distributor cap 25.42 rotor arm 13.99 coil lead fuel filter 13.75 alternator belt If so where and does anyone know the part numbers? Yellow SL #32
  22. No, they are replaceable bulb types - the bulbs are H4. Yellow SL #32
  23. Try link to 7FAQ at the top right of this page. Yellow SL #32
  24. Rear starter motor bolt looks a pig but if you have a 1/2" drive allen key and short extension, it is actually quite easy. If you only have a normal allen key then you're in for a hard time . Yellow SL #32
