was looking for wrong format of Part number. *redface*The OEM number (Bosch) is 0280 155 868
-
have checked the CC website and found following part numbers:
MJY100850, MJY100640, MJY100430 & PR6543
none of these seem to resemble the buff, creak coloured injectors fitted to my roller barrel SLR/R400. I cannot see any obvious part number with them still in situ
pls can anyone confirm correct part number
thx

thx Dave - is de-pressurising just a case of removing fuel pipe from bulkhead end of the rail, and / or fuse out?
-
thx Paul I had considered that option but was advised earlier that removing the injector is a fiddle as there are some O rings that could become dislodged / fall into the wrong place...
-
...just started again but engine still 'lumpy'. Removed number 3 plug again and still shiny. I'm more convinced it's an injector problem 😔
-
all plugs out and a spark is being produced by all four. I've moved the earth strap at the brake union from the top of the thread to the base of the thread next to the chassis box section.
Done compression tests: 1 with closed throttle (1st set) and one with throttle open (2nd set); details as follows. all readings in bar.
Cylinder 1 2 3 4
10.5 11.5 11.0 11.5
16.0 16.5 17.0 17.0

thx Angus - will double check spark on other plugs but thought that as there are signs of combustion this would mean cylinders 1,2 & 4 were ok.
I have had the car running periodically over the past week or so. Yesterday it ran for c.20 mins. Once warmed through it idled ok but bringing revs up through c.2k rpm there was a vibration through the car and a roughness to the engine.
I've checked the main earth on the engine mounting to alternator housing. The earth on the 3 way brake pipe union is ok. Am I missing one anywhere else?

thx Dave - have gone back to basics and taken all plugs out. Number 3 plug is still 'out of the box' shiny. The other 3 have blackened with combustion. Have removed this plug and checked for spark and all ok. Have disconnected fuel pipe on the rail and fuel is pumping through ok.
wondering now if I have an injector problem.

thx Paul
😬yes definitely fuel - 20 litres put in 7 days ago
fuel pump seems to operate fine. Will double-check ECU connections though

had the car running for c.15 mins yesterday evening. Then had coolant related issues so switched engine off and followed various threads advice to resolve.
Gone to try and start car again this morning and after c.20 attempts trying to catch on the throttle no joy.
I've checked all the sensors and refitted. Brand new plugs (none loose) and leads.
Having had an engine rebuilt the MBE was left untouched on the car and settings have not changed since car was withe The 2 Steve's in Feb 2010.
Putting it in non-technical language it seems as though the ECU is picking up wrong signals somewhere.
Short of taking the car to The 2 Steves - does anyone else have the software/hardware/ know how 'up north' or in the Midlands?

ok - all sorted...so car now starts 😬 - the previous owner had created a extra length of wire for the rev counter on the Stack. Once I by passed this spark returned and engine fired
......no oil pressure though. Looks as though the pump is knackered. off to create a separate thread 😔
thanks for feedback guys
-
thx Giles - tried that and still not firing ☹️
spins over ok but no sign of it firing up
-
engine back in ready to crank for pressure and start
just had a rebuild by DVA 😬. In the past 6 hrs have checked the following:
engine getting fuel
no spark when cranking
coil has c.9V when cranking
new distributor cap as I found the centre brush was broken
the MBE & MFRU and all wiring were not removed from car
battery reading 11V when cranking
anyone any ideas ? have decided to sit in the sun for 30mins before I do anything daft
thanks

this is the one that fits into the lower mount on the alternator then through the adjustment arm. The head of the bolt fits into the hex shaped hole in the alternator
is it M10Xc.80mm?

I know it may be a bit of a trek - but when I had an Xflow engined car - I took it to Northampton Motorsports (Troy). They did a great job and since then they have had the pleasure of fettling Mr N.Mason's Ferrari 250GTO
their details are in LF most months

thx Rich

thanks DJ/Rich
I already have the small blanking plate - can't remember how I came by it
DJ- I work within 1 mile of CCM so can pop in and pick up the large cap - but thanks for the offer
Rich - glad to see your faith in my abilities is steadily improving 😬
Do I remove the large plate first and push spindle out? - any tips you can recall?
Rog
-
please see pics
does the spindle need removing - or can it be covered up?
Is blanking plate on other side ok?
Rog
-
the pics in the link show both sides of the gearbox speedo drive. As I have a Stack this drive is redundant. ref the pic with the 'nub' of the drive still protruding...what do I need to blank this off
Is there a cap?
or does this spindle come out?
assume the blanking cap on other side is ok?
thanks

having been a member of this club for several years, you'd think I'd remember to use the search function a little more
spent a good hour or so reading through various posts.
PeterC - I bought my whole new assembly from CCM in c.June 2010 after a rear end rebuild. I do need to check that I've fitted mine with the large cut out at 12 o'clock
will give Sean a call
