  1. what about grill for 2012 sv ?
  2. Having done exactly as you have and per the manual I also sleeved wires with heat shrink and grommet. When it came back from Caterham mids it was minus the grommet, they had cut off the heat shrink over about 8 cms and put clear hose over instead( why the clear washer hose not just over the top of the heat shrink I don't know, it looked sh@t! ). I would think just clear hose over heat shrink where it goes through strut, no grommet, and some clear silicon to seal it all. Heads up, they did the same where the wires enterered the body of the car too. Should give a to midlands for putting it all straight again afterwards wheni kicked off as I said it looked terrible as it was but don't see why the clear washer hose over heat shrink should be a problem. This was an aug inspection. Pm me if you want more heads up on what seemed to be done by midlands to get it through
  3. Carnt wait. Let me know if your stuck for a template and will look at getting mine off the car - only 4 months old so perfect condition. Looking forward to some titanium for xmas !

    Armour fend

Just to add to the thread . Had Dave out today to do my 7's nose, front rear arches and the 20mm down the side strips. As the others say great job, no messing about just arrived got on with it and on his way few hours later. Fantastic finish, dont envy his friday evening return down the M6 though.... Just need it to dry out a bit outside now then I can go out and give the armour fend a test....

    Fuel gauge problems

theres a large cap laft hand side of the tank on the top maybe 20cms across? its got the fuel pipe outlet on it and a long thin connector 4 wires and 2 blanked off. other than the filler pipe on the other side of the tank thats all i can see on the top of the tank...which is why im lost on the sender or just being thick and missing something obvious ?

    Fuel gauge problems

Just to add, checking earth black to yellow on Guage connector gives me 207 ohms, give cara good wobble ie slosh the fuel and I get readings 192 to 208 then settles v quick to around 207 again Guage fault then?
  13. Cally in the knowledge of blat chat! My new 7 is giving me problems with the fuel gauge 10% of the time it works the other 90% it's showing around the full mark. Since the last fill up its showing just below full but I've done 130 miles and I know a 7 isn't that economical! I've got the floor up but a bit lost with the wiring as to what is the sensor. There a large white tank cover left hand side of tank with fuel hose and block connector with black, grey green, green black, and yellow green wires. No obvious sensor or is it all under the large white cap held in with the black ring? Don't want to risk breaking the gasket unless I have to. Guage end is 3 wire connector yellow, green and black wires so not sure what's between the sensor and Guage? Any offers as to where the problem may be? Checked the earth black wire at Guage and off the tank both fine

    my 1st 7 build

Well just over 2 weeks (how long!!) since she went off to caterham for post build etc etc, we now have a reg plate. Cannot wait to be back in the country on we'd to go get the 7 and have some fun ! Still less than 11 weeks from delivery including the sitting time for paperwork at caterham not bad for a first build. Just a question of how long before I'm in the spotted section! And hopefully not wrapped round a tree or in a ditch 😬

    my 1st 7 build

nope i definatly mean 3mm !! when i first tried, power on at the ke, led on all the time at 1mm gap. so backed it off till no light at all, turning the hub i moved it in till led flashed, started at about 4mm, at 2mm gap on all the time. so set it to 3mm, wheel on, dropped her down round the block and tacho works. no idea on the gap, it works im happy. except cars gone now to caterham for post build etc

    my 1st 7 build

well jacked up and tweaked this morning needed a gap of 3mm ! any closer the led stays on. Down the drive, the speedo flickered. Another excuse round the block with no number plates or tax etc etc...but sod it ! I now have the Caterham 😬 just going to be a long wait for its return from midlands post IVA etc. maybe even with a new sept number plate i guess...still 7 weeks start to finish not bad, and working abroad so no after work working on it

    my 1st 7 build

well she runs. went off down the drive to test things seems to work so round the block once, then again, and then 3 more goes just to be sure All works but no speedo any suggestions? rechecked the gap, was about 1.5mm now 1mm, but no idea. all the lights work etc so im stuck now ? but how tempting to go for a proper blast out ....

    my 1st 7 build

Near the end ! Anyways couple of questions for the blat chat experts. Grommets for the wires on headlamps/indicators. Do they have to be fitted as proving to be nightmare to fit them ? or is it acceptable to seal them into the holes with silicone or sikaflex instead ? (its going for iva at nottingham) bonnet fit - is it worth it or needed to fit some sponge or similiar where the bonnet fits onto the rest of the car to stop it chafing around ? thanks guys !

    bonding front wings

Thanks phil. Pretty much what i did last night although gone for the direct fixing. Just about to go out and see what happened during the night before I do a second coat and cover all around the tubes with sika. But how much carbon on your car ? and that polish job looks amazing - what did you do/use to get that glass finish look ? mine will need a good going over post build. hopefully next weekend looking like less than 6 weeks delivery to finished. And i work abroad so can only do a bit when im home not every night after work !

    bonding front wings

Thanks for that link grubster looks like im going for overkill as the plan was to take the steel tubes to bare steel and coat the hole lot in sika about 1 inch either side and all over the mount tubes to create a "triangle" ish shape of sika with the steel mounts in the middle.

    bonding front wings

i got a tube of the 292 (not sure how im going to stop the tube going off when ive just used a small bit to intially stick them in place hope its like silicone where just the outer edge goes off) Seem to remeber something about the leading edge of the wing in relation to the wheel for the IVA but carnt find anything in the manual guess they assume we all like looking at bolt heads....
