The slight difference (5 or 6mm) will make no real difference and shouldn't compromise the effectiveness of the strut.

Suggest you remove the nut and bolt, fix the top and bottom sections (the strut pieces slide inside each other) and then re-drill or file in situ.

  2. Petty struts usually come in 2 parts. This is to allow for slight 'tolerances' in the chassis i.e. different distance between the roll bar and the chassis fixing point. The strut is fitted into place and then the 2 parts of the strut are drilled and fixed to length with a bolt.

Did you buy your strut/rollbar second hand and therefore already bolted to length? If so, you may have to redrill or elongate the hole.

    Hope this makes sense.

  4. I'm with Gareth on this one. Surely if the buckle is upside down you will have 1 slot (crutch strap) facing up and 2 slots (shoulder straps) facing down. The only way to do it is to dismantle the buckle and swap the laps straps over. Or am I missing something?

  5. Thanks NickA, but Nickh7 recommended them also, and I'd already tried them and they didn't have quite what I was after.

  6. Thanks Guys

I've managed to get hold of some stainless dome headed bolts similar to James Whitings. They'll do for now. I guess I'll add them to my Stoneleigh shopping list. *smile*

  7. Thanks Nick, but they don't have what I want. I've recently bought some nice black alloy nuts bolts and cap washers from them, but the heads have only a narrow diameter.

    The search continues.

  8. I'm looking to replace the bolts on my cycle wings. I saw a 7 some time ago with some rather smart anodised bolts which had large anodised cup washers and also rubber washers. I've tried to locate something on the interweb, but no luck. I thought that motorcycle spares suppliers may have been the answer.

Big head fasteners are not an option as the wings already have 5 mm holes in them.

Any suggestions as to something suitable.

  12. CSR seats appear to be slightly wider and suit CSR or SV.

  13. I think you've aswered your own question. Best bet is to trial fit with the calipers. It's no problem releasing the handbrake cables. As I recall they only hook on and it's a good chance to clean things up and make sure everything is free.

Interested in the seats, but need to shift a pair of brand new CSR leather seats first. Don't fancy a swap do you?

I spoke with TSK not long ago and as helpful as they are, they are not geared up to supply tins of paint other than via Caterham, although it may be different if you are close enough to be able to collect from them.

As its Caterham Yellow you need, I sugest you do a search - there are details of the various 'recipes' for Caterham yellow as the topic has been covered in the past. Taking the recipe to a local paint shop should enable them to make it up exactly.

  16. I've had to give back word on the fridge and have e-mailed Stephen.

The fridge is therefore available and ideal for Le Mans - I'm sure someone can make use of it.

Stepehen - Sorry for messing you about.

  19. Silver poppers are the norm on a black windscreen.

You do need a rivet gun with a narrow nose to fit inside the poppers. The cheaper ones tend not to have a narrow nose. I'm sure someone local to you will have one you can borrow. If you're buying a new rivet gun, take a popper along to make sure it fits.

  20. Seats are from a CSR and are a little wider than normal. The squab is a little wider, but just squeezes into a standard chassis. The centre section of the seat back is the same, but the sides of the back flair out slightly more. I think they could be made to fit a standard chassis, with modification, but are more suited to an SV chassis.

Am I correct in thinking that SV seats (perhaps just early ones?) are the same size as standard narrow chassis seats? If so, may be an opportunity for someone to upgrade and swap their narrow seats for spanking new ones - providing their seats are pretty good or there is a cash adjustment.
