  1. Quoting ozzy: Extra 2 position switch on dashboard, wired to water temp gauge. Switch one side oil temp, the other water temp. 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔Think this is posted on the wrong topic.
  2. 😬 As no one seems to have answered your original question - As far as I am aware it is a Caterham part. I'm not aware it can be obtained elsewhere. It seems most problems result from water ingress, so if you do buy a new one, you can prolong it's life by sealing the gap around the electrical terminal using silicon. You can also mount the sender remotely, higher up behind the radiator and out of the way of the spray and muck. To do this, use braided hose and appropriate connectors. Again, Think Automotive can supply.
  3. Matt I simply used 2 straight elbows for my heater. There is enough flex in them to cope. I obtained mine from SFS Performance (01582 488040). They are 90 degree elbows with 16mm bore, and legs of 102mm. and are 3 ply material. Mine cost £7.10 each plus vat and plus P&P in March 2006. I'm sure they are a standard size that most hose suppliers will stock. I found I had to trim one of the legs on one elbow by about 1 inch. Before you order, I suggest you check that 16mm diameter is OK as I understand some of the hoses on early heaters narrowed to fit on smaller diameter pipe on the heater. Ring me if you need more info.
  4. *arrowup* *arrowup*What Chris says is correct *arrowup* Except that the "normal" way of attaching the vertical panel to the scuttle is by 4mm pop rivets rather than rivnuts. Either will work, but likely to be a little gap if you use rivnuts. Edited to add that the vertical panel and horizontal panel are usually finished with a bit os silicon sealer. 5. Just to confirm what others have said. Princess calipers will not fit Caterham uprights which are Spitfire Herald pattern.
  6. I'm not sure I know what you mean. If you are saying there is a small hole in each of the heads of the allen bolts and that the wire passes through these holes and ties the 2 bolts together, then this is lockwire - see here It is used to stop crucial bolts coming undone and not normally required for your starter motor. Just make sure you tighten up fully and that they are fitted with spring washers. Hope this helps.
  7. Wipe off mucky waxoyl and grit with white spirit prior to re-treating with waxoyl.
  8. Paul Not sure which heater you have. Is the Clayton heater the flat one or the upright one? My 2000 car has the upright heater and I have used 2 standard 90 degree elbows from SFS. If yours is a similar heater, drop me a blat mail and I'll let you have a picture of mine (to confirm it's the same) and the exact details of the hoses I've used. Mine have been on for a few years now and no signs of deterioration.
  9. Is this[/url what you mean when you say MFRU? Seems to be currently out of stock, but if Caterham are asking £60 new I would have thought that you could find available much cheaper than £240!!! I'd try ringing Rimmer Bros. if Redline can't help.
  10. I'll take the welding helmet if it's not already gone. Have sent BM

    Armour Fend

Car Builders Solutions can supply a similar product called "Stone Chip Film". It comes in 2 feet wide roll and they sell by the foot. I've used it and it's good stuff, but make sure you don't touch the sticky side with your fingers.
  12. Edited to save me looking a fool. LADS TOP TIP:- If you do fit a new sender, put silicon around the terminal to stop ingress of water - it will prolong the life of the sender. Edited by - Paul Richards on 23 Oct 2011 21:18:49 Edited by - Paul Richards on 23 Oct 2011 21:20:45
  13. Despite what is stated above, please make sure you replace the whole lot (bearings and races). To put new parts with worn parts is very bad practice. All the parts will have had the same wear. Matching new bits with old bits is likely to bring on premature failure. Edited by - Paul Richards on 23 Oct 2011 11:34:56
  14. John Could be battery as suggested - try jump leads from a good battery. Could also be a bad connection from exposure to sea air. I'd clean all battery and starter terminals for starters (including earths).
  15. Confirm you can normally replace cable with diff in place.
  16. Never found a use for them, but assumed they were for use with a rollcage. I think the hood is/was made to fit over one of the cages.
  17. This seller is a strange person. The advert has been amended several times in view of the protests that it isn't a Caterham (it's a kit car - probably a Locost that has been registered as a Caterham). He's now added 2 extra pictures, one of a totally different partially dismantled Locost and one which appears to be the front suspension of a rather battered Caterham
  18. Drill carefully and rivnut. You should be able to see a gap between tank and skin.
