  1. Thanks Dave. Helpful as always. Sounds like I had it correct.
  2. I'm rebuilding my K series with Accralite forged pistons and am fitting the piston rings with no instructions. The oil rings are straight forward. The two compression rings have no "TOP" markings. There is a ring with a small step in it which I assume is number two (middle) and is fitted with the step to the bottom. There is a copper coloured ring which I assume goes on the top of the piston. This ring appears uniform in shape ( to my eyes) but appears to have a small mark close to the gap. I assume this mark should face up. Can anyone confirm?
  3. No need to ring Caterham. If it's 1/2 inch bolt it's 60 lbs ft.
  4. Now you've got the kit. Your chance to do a blog/guide showing how it's done.
  5. From my assembly guide Is your guide referring to the watts linkage radius arm?
  6. In fact all 0.5 inch bolts on rear suspension are 60 lbs ft. The exception is radius arm to chassis bolt which is 3/8ths and 35 lbs ft (48 Nm).
  7. Radius arm to dedion tube is 0.5 inch x 2.5 inch bolt. No washers. Nylock nut. 60 lbs ft (82 Nm).
  8. Don't add weight. You tighten up when bushes are at their normal resting position.
  9. Put the wheels on. Put it on the floor and turn full lock left and measure gap between sideskin and cycle wing. Repeat for right hand side. Make sure gaps are equal Then adjust track rod ends equally until wheels are parallel by eye. Then make appointment at BKG South.
  10. Tom Simply sounds like your rack isn't central. i.e. turn it until wheels are pointing where you want them before you attach u/j and column.
  11. New heated screens are £400+. If you have windscreen cover on your insurance policy then make a claim.
  12. i need 4 off cap head M12 bolts with 1.50 pitch and 40mm long. I've googled and googled with no success. Anybody know where I can obtain?
  13. Prices look reasonable because they are way out of date.
  14. Yes please Stuart. Going to LADS?
  15. Instead of a 6 speed, consider a modified 5 speed. Higher first second and third. No need to change diff. Retain standard 5th ratio for touring. Available from SPC at half the price of a 6 speed.
  16. You really need to look at the GTKY7 pages of the site. HERE Lots of info on basic maintenance including good pics of jacking up, axle stands etc. There's a lot of good info on the new site.
  17. A picture might help. Generally speaking there will be 2 large terminals on the solenoid and one small one. One of the large terminals will have a thick red wire that goes to the battery. The other large terminal will have a very short wire connected to the adjoining starter motor. There should be a smaller wire which disappears into the loom (eventually). It is the latter that you connect to your relay. Hope this helps.
  18. Change of plans means I have an MBE 9A4 ECU which is no longer required. I bought second hand and understand it has a map suitable for a Vauxhall but is unlocked. For sale at £350 plus P+P (Which is what I paid) Thanks for looking. /sites/default/files/images/users/8403/DSCF8049.jpg
  19. Ashley Should be de-ionised water. Available from most accessory/spares shops. In the past I've also used water which gathers at the bottom of the freezer after de-frosting. I was told this is just as good, but not sure. If you are using a conditioner, the water does tend to evaporate much quicker.
  20. Assume you are topping up the battery with water???
