  1. Is the tow bracket a Westfalia by any chance? John Bransfield had the same problem towing a minno with his Yeti. His solution was to use the "tow ball attachment" from VW Tiguan. For some reason it is a different (lower) shape. An easy but not cheap solution.

When you say standard wheel I assume you really mean the race wheel (3 bolts) as opposed to the Motolita wheel.

No reason why you can't drill the holes yourself. Just remember the old adage:- "Measure twice - Drill once".

If I recall correctly some new blank wheels have the centre pop marked making it easier to do.

  3. How long is it since you used these?

New Area Rep Logins were set up for the new website in May. You should have an e-mail dated 9.5.15 giving details.

Mails have recently moved to a new server. You should have received an e-mail from Tim Pollard around end of August with details.

New area e-mail distribution lists have been set up on new server and are currently being tested.

290mm is quite a big wheel. Most prefer a smaller 260mm or similar. The smaller wheels have 3 bolts attaching them. If you simply want to change to a smaller fixed wheel you will need one of these (and the wheel of course). You may also need to re wire your horn to a button on the dash as I suspect your existing wheel may have a horn push in the middle.

If you do want a quick release wheel then you will need a quick release fitting and suitable upper column. Those suitable for a 7 are drilled for 3 bolt attachment, but it is possible to use your existing wheel if you purchase (or make) an adaptor plate, but I think you will want a 3 bolt small wheel

As for quick release attachments, there are many, but only a few suitable for a 7, as some are too bulky and also push the steering wheel much closer to the driver. Those fitted by Caterham are Racetech or Lifeline similar to this, but as has already been mentioned, these tend to wear after a while and become sloppy. The Rapfix is highly recommended and doesen't seem to wear, is very easy to attach, but is more expensive.

If I were buying again I would opt for the Rapfix, although it too pushes the steering wheel a little closer to the driver, but only an inch or so.

Hope this makes sense to you.

    Good luck.

  5. Bottom bolt holding shocker to de dion is 1/2 inch UNF. Be careful it's all too easy to cross thread (you may already have done so by the sound of things.

To line things up it sometimes helps to turn the shocker through 180 degrees as rubbers tend to stick in a not quite straight position - if you see what I mean. To ensure bolt goes in straight it's sometimes better to remove the top link of the de dion so that de dion can be twisted to help line up bolt exactly.
