  1. I bet it doesn't work that well it's just the bald guy is dead hard I'm interested, but also want something that will reduce noise. Simon - do you know if it is very effective at noise reduction?
  2. Just a wipe with an oily rag should do it.
  3. Not changed to my knowledge. Is it just "newness" and requiring a little persuasion? OR I'm sure you are aware that there is a slot to be lined up, but if the socket or plug has not been assembled correctly things may not line up.
  4. Impossible to get a torque wrench on many of the bolts. Just do them up by feel if they are not easily accessible. Apart from engine the only time I use torque wrench is rear hubs and wheel nuts.
  5. A bit late if you have already ordered your battery, but you can get a banner battery delivered full of acid and ready to go from Tayna. Great service.
  6. Is the tow bracket a Westfalia by any chance? John Bransfield had the same problem towing a minno with his Yeti. His solution was to use the "tow ball attachment" from VW Tiguan. For some reason it is a different (lower) shape. An easy but not cheap solution.
  7. I think the standard type 9 is for those wishing to tow a caravan with holiday luggage. I have the 2.48 first and its fine. I just wish it wasn't so noisy.
  8. Plenty to choose from at Car Builder Solutions I opted for Billet Mirror (MINTBIL) because it has a double joint and means it car be raised high so as not to obstruct my forward view. It's quite heavy and needs to be fitted with 2 part glue, but I found it better than original as it is slightly wider.
  9. As title. I need 4 off centre caps for 13 inch anthracite wheels
  10. How about High Temperature Exhaust Paint?
  11. Gavin When you say standard wheel I assume you really mean the race wheel (3 bolts) as opposed to the Motolita wheel. No reason why you can't drill the holes yourself. Just remember the old adage:- "Measure twice - Drill once". If I recall correctly some new blank wheels have the centre pop marked making it easier to do.
  12. Steve For help drop an e-mail to websitehelp@lotus7club.com
  13. I'm using Magnecor. As recommended by DVA. They're blue by the way. Seem ok but only done about 3k miles.
  14. No. As I recall the rear discs are the same as standard front (Triumph Herald/Spitfire?).
  15. Easiest way is to take the brake pipes off and take them to a local car spares shop where they can make up similar parts to the correct length.
  16. How long is it since you used these? New Area Rep Logins were set up for the new website in May. You should have an e-mail dated 9.5.15 giving details. Mails have recently moved to a new server. You should have received an e-mail from Tim Pollard around end of August with details. New area e-mail distribution lists have been set up on new server and are currently being tested.
  17. Nigel Plenty of water (with a little soap). Do not, I repeat, DO NOT put your fingers anywhere near the "sticky side". Metal tweezers may be of help.
  18. Den 290mm is quite a big wheel. Most prefer a smaller 260mm or similar. The smaller wheels have 3 bolts attaching them. If you simply want to change to a smaller fixed wheel you will need one of these (and the wheel of course). You may also need to re wire your horn to a button on the dash as I suspect your existing wheel may have a horn push in the middle. If you do want a quick release wheel then you will need a quick release fitting and suitable upper column. Those suitable for a 7 are drilled for 3 bolt attachment, but it is possible to use your existing wheel if you purchase (or make) an adaptor plate, but I think you will want a 3 bolt small wheel. As for quick release attachments, there are many, but only a few suitable for a 7, as some are too bulky and also push the steering wheel much closer to the driver. Those fitted by Caterham are Racetech or Lifeline similar to this, but as has already been mentioned, these tend to wear after a while and become sloppy. The Rapfix is highly recommended and doesen't seem to wear, is very easy to attach, but is more expensive. If I were buying again I would opt for the Rapfix, although it too pushes the steering wheel a little closer to the driver, but only an inch or so. Hope this makes sense to you. Good luck.
  19. Ah. Thanks Oily. My car is on TBs hence my response.
  20. Phil Assuming it's the small black pressed steel regulator, then the tiny black spout on top doesn't have anything fitted (I know - it looks like it should).
  21. Welcome Den. What type/size of steering wheel do you have and how many bolts attach it to the column? You may find swapping to a smaller diameter wheel solves your problem without having to go quick release.
