Important Notice for East Kent Members
I am writing to you to let you know that I will be resigning from the position of East Kent AR at the end of December 2024.
Anyone interested in taking on the role, please contact me for a chat about what is involved. Once I finish, unless someone becomes the AR, there will be no more local East Kent club emails or potentially meetings, until an AR is found.
I took on the role in March 2022 after our previous AR Gary Hooton moved to Lancashire and we were without an AR for some considerable time. I did say I would only do it for a year or until someone volunteered to do the job. No one has offered to take it on and time is up. I will be 73 this month and it needs a younger person to really make a go of it.
Having originally started the East Kent meeting back in April 1988, I had a personal interest in seeing that the area meeting continued and thrived and I would like to thank all the regulars who have supported the meetings and the odd event I organised.
I intend to still be a Club member for the foreseeable future and will retain my 7 for a bit longer, but the writing is on the wall. I had my first Seven 39 years ago and it will be a sad day for me when it all comes to an end.
    Regards

East Kent 10th October Meeting at The Ringlestone
After the pub’s holiday shutdown in September, we are back at The Ringlestone Inn for our October 10th meeting from 7:00 pm onwards. The address is, Ringlestone Road, Nr Harrietsham, Kent, ME17 1NX
The food chosen for our October meeting is chicken curry, rice and poppordoms.
Please email me at: eastkent@caterhamlotus7.club with your number of meals needed. Please do NOT reply to the sender of this message , as I will not get your response as it goes to Admin. It must be to the east kent email above.
One thing up for discussion is our Annual Christmas Bash meeting on the 12th December. Do you want me to invite a guest(s). Last year we invited GP Sevens, but they were away delivering a car to France, but expressed an interest in coming next year in 2024. I have not yet contacted them.  Finally, do you want me to do another 7 themed quiz. I promise I will make it much easier than the last one. If you are not coming to this month’s meeting, I would still like your feedback sent to my email above.

Just a quick reminder that tonight’s meeting is at The Stag in Challock from 6:00 pm onwards. I don’t know if we will be allowed to park in the back garden due to the recent level of rain. If the cones are blocking the entrance to the garden, then we are in the large car park.
The Ringlestone is shut for holidays but we return there for the October meeting.
    Hopefully, see everyone this evening.

Please note that if you want to reply to me, then you have to send me an email at: eastkent@caterhamlotus7.club.  Otherwise your auto reply will go to Admin and nothing will happen.

East Kent September 12th Meeting at The Stag, Challock
It seems that there is a problem with the club system and any message I send to you, asks you to reply to Admin. THIS IS AN ERROR.
Please reply to me at : eastkent@caterhamlotus7.club     Please email me if you intend to come to the Stag, as at present, there are only three 7’s, myself , Paul and Julian. I only found out about this problem from Paul, plus Julian confirmed on Blat Chat that he was coming.
I received no replies from anyone to my first message, which was a bit strange. I have emailed the club about the issue and hopefully it will be sorted soon.
Hopefully see everyone on the 12th at The Stag.

East Kent September 12th Meeting at The Stag, Challock
As The Ringlestone Inn is shut for holidays in September, we will be meeting at The Stag, Canterbury Road, Challock, Ashford, TN25 4BB. Please note that it is from 6:00 pm onwards, so we get the light, as it is getting darker earlier now. I have been in contact with the pub and if the weather is good, we can park in the back garden. It would be great to know numbers attending, so if you’re coming, please let me know.
There is no chosen meal, so you can choose from their menu to suit.  I remember that the burger I had there on my last visit was good. Please remember to leave quietly, as the locals love to complain about the noise of cars departing.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 12th September. We are back at The Ringlestone Inn for the October meeting.
    regards

September Meeting- The Ringlestone Inn is shut for holiday
There will be no EK meeting at The Ringlestone Inn on the 12th September, as the pub is shut for holidays.
There is a reasonable chance that we will meet at The Stag in Challock, as it has the space and parking facilities, plus good food. I have not yet contacted them to agree it, so if we do go there, then the food will be your choice from the menu. I will let you know in due course what has been arranged.
If anyone has any suggestions for any other possible venue for just one meeting in September, then please let me know. I had thought of a fish and chip run to Rye or Dungeness. However, I would need to make contact with any Fish & Chip facility, to make sure they are open, hence The Stag being an easy option.
    regards

The East Kent area will be meeting at The Ringlestone Inn on Thursday 8th August from 7:00 pm onwards.
The chosen meal is Chicken and Chorizo pie, chips and peas. Please email me at : eastkent@caterhamlotus7.club with your order and number of people. I must apologise for the late announcement, but other things just got in the way.
We had a very good attendance at Woolton Farm today with 13 sevens in pole position next to the barn. I hope you enjoyed the day. Photos to follow.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday.  Meal chosen is Chicken and Chorizo pie, chips and peas.

Below is a photo from Woolton Farm on Sunday, before most of the other cars arrived.

    Arrival at Woolton Farm
I have received an email from the event manager at Woolton Farm thanking us for attending. He asked me if we can all arrive together, so we can be parked up as a group. I am going to arrive at the farm entrance at around 10:30. The drive up to the farm is quite long, so I will park up on the left hand side and wait for other Sevens to arrive. Once we have say six or seven cars (Twelve Sevens attending), we can arrive together. If you arrive before me, just find a somewhere on the farm drive to park and wait.
    See you on Sunday.

We have the Classic Car Show Meeting at Woolton Farm on Sunday 4th August and it is this coming weekend.
The address is: Woolton Farm, Bekesbourne Lane, Bekesbourne, Littlebourne, Canterbury, CT4 5EA. It is right next door to Howletts Zoo, so easy to find.
The event organisers have asked us to arrive between 10:00 & 11:00 am, as the show opens to the public at 12:00pm.
Attending are Robert Knox, Paul Head, David Stamp, Gary Stone, Richard Stanford-Beale, Mark and Debbie Van Blommestein, Steven & Sally Moore, Marc Smith, Julian Horler plus a friend of his - Ian in a Seven and Andrew & Heather Tuck, plus myself. So potentially 12 Sevens.
If you would like to attend, just turn up and entrance is free.

It seems that I have been using the Love Admin system to send you all messages about the monthly meeting at The Ringlestone Inn, which so happens to be this evening. This new system only came to light, as one new member was not receiving messages from me. Hopefully, that has now been put to rights. This is also a Test to prove it works and if you can confirm, that will be great.
In my previous message sent by Love Admin, I reminded you that on the 4th August at Woolton Farm near Canterbury CT4 5EA, there is a Classic Car meeting to which we have been invited. They make and cook on site, the best pizza’s in the area, plus great ciders and beers. The thatched barn where the bar is, has been beautifully restored. It’s well worth a visit.
Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight at The Ringlestone.
    regards

    Woolton Farm
I have received a reply from the events Manager at Woolton Farm. He has confirmed that he would like cars attending the event to arrive from 10:00/11:00 am onwards. The event opens to the public from 12:00 pm and closes at 5:00 pm. Entry is free and you can arrive/depart when you want. At the moment, it looks like we have 9 or 10 Sevens attending, but the more 7’s the better. The address is detailed on the attached flyer. The farm entrance is well signed and is just before Howletts Zoo, which is on the south side of Canterbury. Post code is CT4 5EA and it is in Bekesbourne.
