    Armourfend....

Great stuff, fully extended my swearing range during the fixing process much to the disgust of the other 1/2. I applied the rear wing, door openings and had plenty of bits left over, so i cut pieces to fit around the bonnet catches and also applied a strip across the leading edge of the nose cone and front cycle wings. Have covered about 3K since applying and not a single stone chip so well worth the pain in the 🙆🏻. Word of warning , ask for additional fixing fluid as you must keep the area flooded otherwise the film sticks instantly on contact and will stretch if you then try to remove it, practise first!! good luck and if all else fails then have a good swear!
  2. I read the recent account of Peter C's engine failure due to a shredding fan belt and thought the following to be somewhat important. I was recently changing the exhaust manifold on my 1.6 k to replace it with a Powerspeed system, anyway it became apparent that it would be easier if I took of the alternator to achieve more room etc. When I took the fan belt of I noticed there were masses of tiny particles of grit and broken fragments of glass imbedded in the grooves between the ribbing. Some of these had penetrated right down to the webbing, this is after 4000 miles. It would appear that the configuration and layout of the K series in a seven is perhaps slightly prone to picking up road debris, naturally I changed it straight away, if left then it may cause premature failure. I do live in a rural area which I suppose you could say has dirtier roads than a built up environment. Thought you might like to know about this, by the way I don't work for the Rover group! Phil
  3. Steve, you can get these from Caterham I think they are about £8 for the two, dead easy to fit although the parts dept. will say you need a hydraulic press which is b---s--- good luck, phil

    4 in one exhaust

I've just fitted a Powerspeed 4.2.1 with repackable silencer to my 1.6SS and the difference in the mid-range is superb. The car really picks it's self up and the sound-- well, awesome. I polished mine with various grades of wet and dry and then mop polished with Mother's Mag, took hours but it now looks ace. I'm a happy bunny 😬

    Lambda probe

I'm about to change the standard exhaust manifold and system on my 1.6SS and replace it with a 4 into 2 into 1 manifold with a repackable silencer. On the standard manifold the lambda is situated in the collector, however on the 4.2.1 manifold it's sited in the 4th primary, will this make any difference?

On re-assembly smeared a little copperease to assit any future work, good luck, phil

  15. Hi Luke system looks great intend to go the same route myself with a 1.6SS. However on a different note the colour of your car appears to be the same as mine and I intend to colour code bits etc. I'm having problems tracking done a paint code so if you can shed any light on the proper name and perhaps more importantly the paint code itself would be very much appreciated cheers phil

    AP4 pots

I'm just about to upgrade the pads and have gone for a set of Mintex M1144, they've come with 4 thin sky blue self-adhesive pads, are these supposed to be stuck onto the back to stop brake squell? I asked Caterham and they said " um yep I think so, but you better check". The other interesting thing is these blue stick on pads are not the full width of the brake pad, any ideas! cheers phil
