  1. Thanks all, Oily I have actually got to types. One is the 3 legged version which I felt was going to be to aggressive. The other one I've got is from a friend at the local garage, it consists of a central stem and then dozens of small balls at the end of wires coming from this stem. This seems more user friendly is this the type your referring to when you say a flex honer? They've had it for years and swear by it! Will be in touch soon Dave to place order for parts etc Phil S7 SVN
  2. Cheers Stu, yet another case then of saying to my other half can you come and hold this it won't take too long honest!!!! Phil S7 SVN
  3. Somebody is going to get a bargain!
  4. OK so I've stripped my 1.6 and removed all pistons and liners etc. I've measured everything with a dial caliper and nothing is worn. However the liners are obviously glazed, original honing marks are still visible (engine done 12000mls). My intention is to re-use the pistons and liners and therefore I wish to glaze bust the liners before putting them back in. I've got a glaze buster but have not done this process before and would welcome any advice, is it best to lubricate with something like WD40 etc. On reassembly I was going to use Blue Hylomar for the liner sealant. The plan is to re-build with HD Bearings, fully ported head with standard valves skimmed 20thou, QED375H cams, DTH TB's, Powerspeed 4.2.1 and programmable ECU. I'm hoping to achieve 170BHP will let you know when it's all complete. Phil S7 SVN
  5. Just taken mine out as I'm in the process of stripping the engine and upgrading to 175BHP, not massive power but hopefully will put a 😬 😬 😬 😬 from ear to ear. Mine had done 6000mls since I changed it last year and it looked perfect. Phil S7 SVN
  6. Mine does exactly the same but it's never bothered me, I've got the engine in bits at the moment so will check the packing and as Martin says if its only £15 for a refill I'll do that as well. Phil S7 SVN
  7. Certainly do remember that meal in ......... somewhere in Burgundy! Off again this year but trekking further south into the Dordogne. cheers Phil

    Armour fend

It's a b----r to fit but I did manage it. They supply a fixing liquid and it's essential that you keep the area flooded whilst fitting. I got the other half to spray this on whilst I attached the film, you then sqeeze out any bubbles with a flat piece of rubber which is supplied with the kit. I requested two bottles of spray fixing liquid as apparently this is the key to successful fitting, keep it flooded with liquid at all times. If the film catches a dry patch it wil stick immediately to the extent that trying to remove it will stretch the film out of shape. I've already got stoneguards but requested the complete piece for the rear wing and I carefully cut this to fit. This gave me a large spare piece which I used around the spring bonnet toggles, a strip across the leading edge of the bonnet and a few other areas. Practise first it pays off, good luck. Phil S7 SVN

  19. You'll probably find it difficult to sell as a complete package so I'll start the ball rolling. If you split then I will definately take the Emerald ECU, will email you a price.

    Brake Seal Life

I've just changed the seals on my 4 pot cosworth calipers, the car is 17 yrs old and has covered 90000mls. The pistons were in good nic, some minor corrosion on the outer edge but this easily rubbed out with wet/dry. The important thing is to change your brake fluid on a regular basis, most manufacturers say every 2 to 3 yrs. If you leave it the fluid will begin to absorb moisture and eventually this causes corrosion in the calipers. I change the fluid in my Cossie every 3 yrs and I use Dot5.1. Hope this is some help. Start-up disaster

Blimy, do you mean that the ring gear fell off completely intact or do you mean it fell off in pieces, I can understand if it has broken up with the starter permanently engaged. You must be extremely p----d off I know I would be but at least CC will sort it for you free of charge, good luck. Phil S7 SVN

    MEMS ECU

Does anybody know whether a Supersport MEMS will cope with Jenvey DTH TB's if retaining the SS cams or is it a case of 'to get the optimum' you need to fit an Emerald or DTAfast as well. Phil S7 SVN
  24. You can also use Hylomar Blue Sealant, apply a 2mm bead around the step and then push the liners home. Phil S7 SVN
