    5xHPCwheels

Rims now sold to Chris G.84 hope you guys got back ok last night and good luck with the project. Phil S7SVN
  2. Try here, www.namrick.co.uk they are very quick with small mail orders. I requested a Helicoil kit at 2.00pm on a Friday and received it the following morning. They are very easy to use, depending on the depth of your thread you may need to get longer inserts as the kits only come with the shorter inserts. It cost me £34 with the P&P.
  3. Check the plug cover in the middle of the cam cover is properly srewed down. Another annoying rattle could be the two horns touching each other. Phil S7SVN
  4. Superb piece of kit, I also find the 1st to 2nd shift difficult when cold so I now do 1st to 3rd for the first couple of miles and then all is well. Intend to change to redline MTL as this apparently helps this problem. Phil S7SVN

  7. I'd go for the 2.3 especially with that power gain/price ratio plus the additional torque you will get. Phil S7 SVN

    D2H TB's K Series

Thanks for the replies, me thinks I will go for a straight forward outlet without the valve! although John's comments are worth remembering as I still have the old plastic plenum. Phil S7 SVN

    D2H TB's K Series

I'm about to attach tb's onto my K series (very nearly finished the re-build now!), I've decided to do away with the stud arrangement from the old plastic plenum and use bolts instead, anybody know the correct torque setting for this? The water take off pipe on the TB's does not have the one way valve as fitted in the plastic plenum does this matter, I assuming it doesn't but thought it best to check. Phil S7 SVN

    Service book stamp

I agree with Grant on this, providing receipts for the service items are available should be OK. Phil S7 SVN
  12. OK, I know this has been covered to death but I cannot locate any Comma Xstream Red at the moment but I can get either Comma Superstream Red 5yr or Comma Coldstream Green 4yr am I right in thinking that these are OK to use? Ta Phil
  13. Ditto Tony C comments I did more or less exactly the same and have not had a problem, even ran some sealant along the plug cover to cam cover to stop water sitting in the plug holes. Phil S7 SVN

    Rough Running R400

Although not an R400 ☹️ I had exactly the same problem with my 1.6SS the first time I washed it. Water basically goes straight through those lovely bonnet vents and drips onto the plug cover and eventually into the recesses. I removed the plug cover and found the problem, to cure it happening again I always replace my plug cover and then seal the small gap with silicone sealant. Have never had any problems since, ok when you want to take the plugs out you will need to clean off and re-do the seal but how often does one really check plugs? couple of times a year. Hope it is this as a simple fix. Phil S7 SVN
  15. Hi all, I currently run an 82 degree thermostat in my 1.6K but I am considering a change to the top hose set up as used on the Elise whereby the stat reacts to hot water from the engine rather than cooler water from the radiator. Anybody else done this and if so does it help to stabilize temps. The kit from QED is about £120. Phil S7 SVN Edited by - prs on 12 Feb 2004 13:24:08

  21. We've got 4 cars and I've always copperslipped the wheel nuts (in fact I copperease most nuts and bolts) been doing this for about 15yrs now and never had a nut seize but more importantly to this thread I've never experienced one come loose. I've always torqued to the manufacturers fiqures. Phil S7 SVN
  22. Thanks all, Oily I have actually got to types. One is the 3 legged version which I felt was going to be to aggressive. The other one I've got is from a friend at the local garage, it consists of a central stem and then dozens of small balls at the end of wires coming from this stem. This seems more user friendly is this the type your referring to when you say a flex honer? They've had it for years and swear by it! Will be in touch soon Dave to place order for parts etc Phil S7 SVN
  23. Cheers Stu, yet another case then of saying to my other half can you come and hold this it won't take too long honest!!!! Phil S7 SVN
