  1. Did mine using a fly press at work, not easy. put a screwdriver inside the bush and lever it about, it shouldn't move. If it does you are correct in your reqt. I'd take it to somewhere once disassembled and get them to do it e.g. James Whiting or the like
  2. mine doesn't. I use the std sensor from the XF. It does read 5 bar regularly from cold but no more
  3. Is yours the sort that has the starter motor within it or passing through it? IF it passes through it you could remove thte starter motor which should give you access to the offending debris.

What's the prop of choice - is there any choice on spec other than the Rif variety which I can't afford

  6. I do seem to remember someone posting here recently about vented discs to fit the AP setup. might be worth a quick trawl. must have been less than 2 weeks ago here Edited by - millsn on 31 Mar 2008 17:25:05
  7. the vented discs are Caterham only. have you tried checking the tracking and also that the bolts on thte suspension are tight? Special candidate is the locknut on the adjustable top link (does the camber) which when slack can allow somee wobble. Other than that, have a look at the steering column? Slack anywhere? Rack ok? Tyre damage? (try swapping the wheels front to back).
  8. love the panoramic one, just think what happens when someone comes up behind you still using full beam

    chassis mods

At some point, chassis went from having a double size plate gearbox mounting (with option to mount a given box at the front position or the rear) to having only the rear mount. At that time the position of the gearlever must also have moved back down the tunnel. Can anyone advise what happened to the padded tunnel cover which has a hole integral to it. Are there two varieties of padded cover, or perhaps it was introduced at the same time the rear only plate was?

£600 is the basic rate. £1200 odd for the really fancy paints
  11. let me know price and availability and i might just pop round again!
  12. get the thin metal one. it raises your compression. mine's fine but I haven't done many miles with it yet try 7114447 which may be the right part number but it should get you near very quicklyk ono the dealer microfiche Edited by - millsn on 26 Mar 2008 20:57:10
  13. water rail on eebay somewhere fYI
  14. just a little hole and alot of wear on the inside face (where a washer should probably have been I suppose)
  15. Cheap skate approach, bung a big fuse in line and see if it blows. If not put a smaller one in its place.
  16. Don't really know what it looks like as I don't have one anymore for reference. THere appear to be a few available through caterham though so I'll call Redline and see what they have to offer
  17. I've lost the pin that the clutch-arm pivots around within the bellhousing. Are they sold seperately?

    Con Rods.

fair to say that it's a pet topic then?
  19. Assuming it looks like it will fit in the first place i usually put a jack under the lower wishbone and jack the wishbone upward with the damper fitted to the upper mount. It will resist and force itself into the right place. USe a screwdriver to lever it to the right place to marry up to the hole, don't forget the spacer through the lower wishbone. nB: I'm prety sure the damper normally has an extension piece in hex bar to make it long enough.

So why would you choose one over the other (assuming both were available)?
  21. you'll be needing a tiny drill though. Access is a pig
  22. you'll be needing the a frame on too or the tube isn't properly positioned. It does come very close and looks like it'll hit even on cars that tdon't
  23. ps, my alternator is 'under' the inlet manifold as per James Whiting's kit of bits. no overheating there. That said, I took it to Goodwod and fired it there by overspeeding it probably although it was at the 5year mark where they seem to die anyway. So I only really know that mine died at or after a trackday.
  24. mine's wrapped, horrible to do as you wrap it wet and then it dries. my wrap then wanted to lift off so i have a jubilee clip around the offending tube. Does look a bit tatty over time though you can buy sealant to avoid this but I was too tight to do so. does also reduce engine bay heat, my problem was the water rail that runs above the exhaust was getting hotter than i felt sane.
