  1. What's a split rad? Isn't that normally a bad thing?
  2. Not sure why you should need it. I'm pretty sure ZRV1 is the basic cam for a std engine. Why not fit it and turn the engine over by hand? If timed at Max lift at tdc you'll soon see if there are any issues. Not sure about 03s but why not try the same, it's fairly easy to do once you've got the kit and done it once.
  3. Sounds like votes for the express then generally, thanks I'll give it a go
  4. thanks, not quite sure how I posted this in techtalk
  5. Looking for someone with experience of this: What's the best route from Kings Cross? I get the choice of cheap route via underground or expensive via Paddington (addnl £15) and the LHR rail link which looks quick from Paddington but then I have to get to Paddington first. Is there any benefit using the Heathrow connect or express from Paddington? no.6
  6. I recall the facet pumps going through a spate of failures so everyone went webcon instead. I agree about it not likely being the pump though if the other cylinders are ok. More likely the engine is running lean generally. Are all the main jets the same? Have you considered the possibility of an air leak on just that cylinder - new o rings reqd? no.6
  7. Two things to try maybe after letting the joint soak in duck oil or 3 in 1 (not WD40 which doesn't penetrate: 1) Drill out the bolt diameter with a very small drill bit and then drive in a hex key of some sort (governed by access possibilities), OR 2) Not sure that this will work due to access diameter but you can get a thread removing tool called a grabbit which works but may be too large a diameter to fit through your bush. Imagine you could easily sacrifice the bush though if this proves a problem. here no.6

    Lazy starting

check the condition of your cables. Earth connections from engine (starter motor) to chassis often fail over time but unnotivceably. Similar issue with +cable too, get any replacement cables made up so they're well sealed at the ends
  9. think burton's do the breathers
  10. *thumbdown*for the aygo if you ever have to drive one, more bounce than zebedee. get a yaris instead. Diesel'll do 65mpg Edited by - millsn on 31 Aug 2008 20:04:29
  11. why? ride gets worse, handling gets worse
  12. get garnet paper at model shops, about 40p a sheet. You'll only need 2 sheets
  13. sttrange they didn't take the oppotunity to remove the one long bolt through the top where it attaches tot he diff. Thought that had a tendency to whip?
  14. very few people out there without one i would say, could be tempted myself but the price would have to be serisouly low...
  15. Does anyone have any 'green volvo ones' going spare? and how far do they go before they run out, I need to future proof for 240 brake
  16. not entirely sure it would steer very well, look for the uj on the steering column here
  17. check that your exhaust isn't cracked. Try manifold to head (you'll hear it -don't burn your ears), front of the silencer and esp look for black deposits arouond the collector, all indicate leaky exhaust which gives pops and bangs
  18. that box section bit shouldn't be there ;(
  19. actually i think I've got one, can you collect?
  20. best bet is to abrade it if it's cosmetic, just trub it with anything as harsh as won't damage the surrounding area. A plastic spatula will do. If youo can'tt gett at it, cut through it with cheesewire style. Strip out some automotive cable from its sheath and pull it back and forth. It cana be really hard work and the cable gets seriously hot so don't touch it aftterward.
  21. anyone suggest a good source?
  22. fuel pipe possibly collapsing when warmed through? Similar thing with any vacuum system fitted to the car? Throttle pot (if fitted)?
