  1. Richard I do remember weighing my Hispec Ultralite 4s and they were 0.9KG each and I worked out that the overall weight saving was 4KG for both sides so I think each standard M16 caliper is about 2.9KG each. I can check tonight, as I have photos of me weighing them- sad I know Not sure how much the AP ones weigh. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  2. Scrub me off, my diary planner has informed me that I am not able to go Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  3. Nick Can I have first dibs please, although I need to check if I can get parole. I'll give you a call. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  4. Anyone got a freebie ticket or two 🤔 they don't need. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  5. Simon Glad to hear you managed to get it sorted. Please can you get the new owner to send me their details so I can update the register. Graham Maybe people like to see a Caterham Blackbird out and about in the UK occasionally? As far as I know about 4 of the 15 are currently overseas, so only 11 in the UK. 7. I would not mind seeing a picture of the scavenge pump fitted to your bird Mike to see if it is the same or different to mine. My car runs fairly hot oil temps on a hot track day but I do the same as Neil and come in when it reaches 110 degrees. My oil cooler is a short fat one at the front of the car. On Alicat's old car now owned by Frank the oil cooler is a tall one. Not sure which one has greater capacity? When I first had the car the water temp was always running high in traffic which I have now cured this by fitting a lower fan sensor and two fans. I think that the mod on Will's old car was probably overcooling the engine. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird

Friend of mine owns a BMW M3, the nice new one 🥰 but wants to change the tyres to something less track focused, so he wants to sell the current tyres, details below. 2 X Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Plus 245x 35 x 19 Y rated 3mm tread left 2 x Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Plus 265x 35 x 19 Y rated 3mm tread left If you know anyone that uses an M3 on track then these would be a great buy. He is open to reasonable offers. These tyres are apparently about £300 a piece new Please blatmail me and I can pass on your details. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  9. Matthew Unfortunately if it is metallic then blending in resprayed areas is difficult(not impossible). Your best bet is to remove the front suspension which is not very difficult and get the side skins sprayed all the way along to the top of the rear wings. When i had my car resprayed I removed the front suspension units as a whole, picture here. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  10. I would recommend you get a quick lift jack like this one here. Racetech do one for about £85.00. If you glue a wooden block to the jack plate the car can be very quickly lifted front or back without damaging the car. To use this type of jack it is best to do it on flat ground as you need the handbrake off for the jack to work. The jack can be easily stowed on the wall in a garage or even under the car while parked in a garage. If it was me I would save the expense or a 2nd set of wheels and run on CR500 for road and track. Get the car flat floored with the new tyres fitted and the car will feel superb on road and track Still think it is good to have the jack though Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  11. Dave Used to take my Mitsi Evo IV to these here and the car always felt great on track. Maybe a bit far for you to go though 🤔 Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  12. Nifty When I had an R300 I bought a new kit from Caterham but it still would not seal so I replaced the O ring with a thicker one and it solved the problem. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  13. Forgot to say that the colour is slightly pearlesant as can be seen from the photos. Yet another photo Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  14. Peter, you bitch 🙆🏻 Paul, Give TSK a call, do a search for the number. Photo here and here
  15. Mine is Lotus Lava Orange which is reasonably bright Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  16. Simon You are spoilt for choice in Kent. Either Caterham(Dartford), 7 Indulgence(Stansted) or Freestyle(Horton Kirby) all do Caterham maintenance, as well as Redline and James Whiting a little further round the M25. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird

  18. Will, can you ask the owner of your old car to email me their details for the register? Petrolhead, there were only 2 Blackbirds I have found so far built by Caterham at Dartford, the rest, about 12 were built as kits or by Blackbird Motorsport/4 Wheel Motorcycle Co. on Blackbird Arch chassis with the BB chassis number. One I know of is now a Hayabusa. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  19. Simon Sorry to hear you are selling up, and was shocked to return from holiday and find Will had sold his one *eek* As you say these cars are brilliant but they are a bit of a niche market, probably due to people not knowing that much about them. There are as you say only a handful genuine ones out there and this makes some people nervous, especially when it comes to back up from Caterham, however I have had no issues getting any parts for my car as they are all available new from Caterham, Nova and your local bike breakers. I do hope your car stays in the UK but based on recent sales I would not be surprised if it went overseas Good luck with the sale and please pass my details on to the new owner so he can be added to the register. 21. Depends on what you are using the car for and how often you are prepared to change the fluid. The higher performance fluids need replacing fairly regularly but perform much better at higher temperatures. If you do road and occasional trackdays then go for a good quality DOT4 like Castrol Response. Castrol SRF is very expensive but good for racers. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  22. I wonder if someone can help 🤔I need the power of Blatchat to help me identify the clutch cable fitted to my Blackbird car. I have visited Caterham parts but Darren cannot identify it as one they supply. The inner cable itself is 960mm, the out being 605mm. Some pictures here herehere Any ideas 🤔 Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  23. Adam Hay has a turbo Busa Caterham. Seemed to go rather quickly at Brighton speed trials Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  24. ECU controlled fan depends on the year of your ECU. Post 2001 ECUs have ECU controlled fans, Lambda sensor. If you have a 1999/2000 Inj engine ECU then the fan is controlled by a fan switch on the side of the radiator. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  25. Neil/Chris I use a Subaru fan switch which cuts in at 88-90 degrees. I will email you the part number. Its a striaght swop and will avoid forgetting to switch the fan on manually. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
