  1. Chris Radio expired on my Focus and I replaced it with an after market unit I got from a club member. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  2. Matthew I have found a circuit using a 555 timer chip, it would require a fair amount of work to build the circuit on a board though which may be more involved than you want. Might be a good winter project though? Can copy the circuit and email it to you if required. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  3. You could use a 555 timer chip. I'll see if I can dig out a simple circuit. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird

    Oil's

Tony I use fully synth Castrol Superbike Oil. Do not use car oil as you will get excessive clutch slip. Some people find that the fully synth superbike oil makes their clutch slip but I have found it OK in my engines. Castrol do a semi synth oil as well if you experience a slipping clutch. R500 Brake Pads

Roy I believe the general concensus is that Pagids are the best but cost . Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  6. What about 7 Indulgence. here I have used them in the past with no problems. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  7. Dan You only torque up the suspension when the car is on its wheels. You can get to most of the bolts but you may need some crows foot wrenches to attach to your torque wrench like these Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  8. Oh, and beware of ACB10 tyres and some slick tyres as they are crossplys and not really suitable for quick swops from road to track as the work better with different camber angles. Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  9. Ian For trackdays I would recommend you use 13" wheels. Your best bet is to buy a set of used wheels that come up for sale on here, the Westfield forum, here or Pistonheads here or Ebay here Your car will need wheels with the 4 108mm pitch circle diameter stud spacing that has been mentioned and must have offsets of +23mm for 6" wide wheels and +18mm for 7" wheels although and this is usually marked on the rim with ET and then the number. Other offsets will probably fit though. If your car is less than 140ish BHP then 6" wheels all round will probably work well, if your have more power then 7" or 8" will be OK but it really depends on personal choice, and larger Carlos Fandango wheels do look good Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  10. Check the spark plugs. Went to look at an R500 once and it would not start. Owner fitted new spark plugs and it fired up immediately. They may have got fouled up when left to idle? Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird

  12. Ian Got your text. No idea of the exact diameter but I have the Fiat ones like these here or these here Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird

    Tillet seats

Only if they are one of their non Caterham seats, the tillets bought from Caterham are a design owned by Caterham Cars. I looked into Tillets other designs which are nice but even more expensive than the ones from Caterham. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird

  15. Car now sold to Roy H subject to receiving his bank transfer. Thanks for the interest. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  16. BM replies sent to Roy H and Craig. Come on, this is a cheap to run 52.3 mpg(combined), reliable car with a large boot, with conveniences of bluetooth phone kit, heated front screen, electric mirrors, CD player. Would make a great car for someone self employed who needs something to carry around lots of equipment etc. Asking for >2K for one on Autotrader. Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  17. I have just bought a new car so my Ford Focus Estate is for sale. Details: 2001 Ford Focus 1.8 DI Estate CL in white. 104,000 miles. I have owned it since 2003 when it had 45,000 miles. MOT til 29th July 2010. Tax til 31st August 2010. Heated front screen, electric mirrors, electric windows, air conditioning, central locking, CD player, Parrott Bluetooth hands free kit, towbar(tows a Caterham no problem). Had a new cambelt and big service at 95,000 miles. New starter motor fitted last month, new water pump about two month ago. I have it service regularly by a friend of mine. Had it checked for tracking when it had the last set of tyres fitted. Comes with spare key. Has a small indentation in the plastic rear bumper, and both body coloured mirrors have scrapes, but otherwise just the the usual stone chips. Does 50mpg, very economical and is a real workhorse. £1200 ONO which looking at ads on Autotrader is a good price. If anyone is interested then please don't ask me for photos as I am working away from home most of the time so it would be better if you came and saw it and I will try and clean it before you come Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird

    LSD

My 'Bird is fitted with a 3.1 diff and it seems just right for road and track. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  19. I have this set up on my car and it has been great. Bargain if you ask me. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  20. Neil Forgot to ask, what settings have you gone for on the Nitrons? And if you have any photos of the stripped engine then I would be interested in seeing them. Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  21. Neil I have my old engine that has a stripped 4th gear but is otherwise OK. I now have a spare gearset and would be interested in how I go about replacing it. I assume the crankcase has to be split but it looks complicated, with the need to remove the clutch basket. The previous owner of the gearset broke the clutch basket trying to undo the nut holding it on so I am a bit worried about tackling the job. Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  22. Neil For me personally I just like my engine standard. I like the fact that the Blackbird is a car with a consumable engine that can be easily swopped with another from ebay for Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
  23. 10 litres *eek* My Blackbird takes about 4.5 litres. I do remember the Megabird DS tank being rather large though, but 10 litres Nick Lava Orange Caterham Blackbird
