  1. Dave Emailed about the Nitrons. Let me know when you are ready for me to pick them up. Nick
  2. Reg Mine is exactly the same Always has been. Nick
  3. X flows usually breathe heavily if not fitted with forged pistons. As yours is a Roger King one I would have thought it would have those fitted. If you were really giving it beans then oil in the breather tank is to be expected. I would just pour it back into the engine. Nick
  4. There is one on Pistonheads and the advert says that it will fit an imperial chassis as stated by Caterham so I would think one would fit yours. It may be the same cage that Prangerman has on his car which I would have thought is an imperial chassis. Nick
  5. I had a micro T and towed my Caterham with it. Fits perfectly and is a really compact trailer that can be stowed in a single garage with the ramps on so you can drive the car on and off without moving it unless you are towing. It tows really well. As for tyre blow outs, its the same as a caravan, you just need to keep nice fresh tyres on it and maybe look at a good stabiliser tow hitch. Nick
  6. Tony Does it come with the neck like this one here? First dibs if it does. Nick
  7. OK Dave thanks, just got a bit worried I had not heard anything. Speak to you later, no rush, just call me when you have stopped eating all the pies Nick
  8. Dave No replies to my last two emails? Did you get anything from me? Nick
  9. Ian You are right, this is a safety upgrade, can't understand why you would ask such a stupid question Arnie, I have heard that the Ledas are quite heavy items 🤔 🤔, not good for unsprung weight . My Bilsteins seem to work well on the road but I want more adjustability. I intend to keep them until I have tried the Nitrons on road and track and if they work for me I will sell the Bilsteins on. Nick
  10. Dave Yes still interested. Will send you a blatmail. Nick
  11. Mark If you have a carbon centre mirror I may be interested in buying it off you. I believe this company here do smaller centre mirrors. Nick Edited by - bluenose on 22 Aug 2012 14:37:14
  12. Jase Sounds like an immobiliser problem although it appears from what you say that the fob is still be triggering the immobiliser to unset. Have you got the original Vecta handbook, that may give you clues to the buzzing? If you have disturbed any wires to/from the immobiliser box then this may be your problem. The Vecta may be unsetting but the wires going to the circuits it isolates could have been disconnected and hence the car will not start. If you can find the Vecta box you may be able to trace the wires, although they are probably not marked for obvious reasons. Nick
  13. Chris As I said to you at CLM on my car(not a Zetec -I know) I had problems with the temperature rising in traffic and by adding another fan the problem has gone away. I think you could do with a slightly bigger fan if one will fit. If the car is cooling OK while moving the radiator is working OK with on the move airflow and the same will happen if the fan can push enough air across the radiator while stationary. Phil Bs experience may be worth pursuing with whoever mapped your car as well. Nick
  14. Or here. I bought the "Economy " which is exactly the same but anodised silver and are 150 cheaper . Excellent brakes even with the Greenstuff pads. Nick
  15. Myles New nylocs should be OK. On diff end bolts need loctite where they attach to the flange. Nick
  16. Myles Has a look at Dave Hackett's site showing your engine, is there going to be enough room to pull the stator + housing clear of the rotor without hitting the chassis rail? With regard to your question it all depends on amount of times you need to gain access and how neat you want it to be. I think(maybe wrongly) that you are either unlucky or have too many electrical items running on the car that has overloaded the alternator? Nick
  17. Got mine from Caterham and covered them in convoluted tubing. Nick
  18. Peter My Caterham aerocreen and Rif rear light mounts were affected by the french rain, although the nosecone and front and rear wings were OK. I have used Maguires Scratch X(mild T Cut) and then Wood Silk and they look like new again. A fair amount of elbow grease is required to get the marks off. It seems to happen when there is heavy rain that leave latrge droplets on the car followed by strong sunshine(although I do not remember much of that ☹️) that bleaches the carbon 🤔 I am perplexed as to why it only happens on some items on the car. Nick
  19. HiSpec are good, Fitted them to my car 5 years ago and they have been trouble free so far. I fitted them to the standard 232mm solid discs and the balance is fine. They are very light too at under a kilo per side. Nick
  20. I am in the process of trying buy some new dampers and springs for the Blackbird and am struggling to understand certain aspects of what I need. Currently my car is on Bilstein M0 dampers which seem good in the dry but no very complient over bumping roads and too stiff in the wet. I would like to try some adjustable alloy bodied dampers around the Nitron R1, quantum price point, I think Ohlins are too expensive and talking to a Koni dealer they would need to custom make them which again is tto expensive. Just a few questions someone may be able to help me with: I notice some pictures of Nitrons come with helper/tender springs on the rear shocks, are these for progressive damping or just to keep the main spring tight? Nitron reckon they are not needed? Nitron say they do 3 valving options, light road, fast road and track and them recommend light road for me as it is a BEC and I do occasional track days. Anyone have experience of the valving. I did speak to some one who said they always run with their Nitrons fully wound off on the road and about 6 clicks on track out of a possible 24 click range, this does not seem right to me as only part of the damper range is used, anyone comment? Eibach springs or standard Nitron springs? Is it just a weight saving? Spring rates for my car, talking to Nitron they recommend 225 front, 140 rear which seem a bit stiff for such a light car(460kg), does this seem OK, or do I need a bit lighter? Subjective I know. Meteor Motorsport Nitrons are £200 more than direct from Nitron, are they worth the extra? Meteor = £1195 + vat vs Nitron = £995 + vat. How much does it cost to have the Nitrons revalved? Serviced? I have looked at Quantum and they look good and are DIY revalvable, anyone have experience of this and does it work in reality? Any help, experience would be much appreciated. Nick
  21. Gary If you have a SLR wiring diagram bring that with you and if it happens en route at least we have a chance of finding the problem. I will bring a multimeter just in case. Nick
  22. Wanting some adjustable dampers on my car by the end of this year so if anyone is thinking of upgrading their one way adjustable Nitrons, Quantums or Konis or moving up to Ohlins then I would be interested in talking. Must be in very good condition. Must be for widetrack post 1996, lugs at bottom or dedion. Not interested in Avos, Spax or Gaz. Please blatmail me or nickpaulwestbrook at yahoo dot co dot uk Nick
  23. Peter The long range forecast has been suggesting rain on the Thursday but fine (ish) after that You do know that its not this coming Thu, but a week on Thu? Fancy wimping out on aeroscreening, seems like I will be the only one going with the aero fitted yet again.
  24. Picks or video showing how much brighter they are. Are they much brighter? Nick
