  1. Same here - SPA centre mirror and Brooklands and it fits fine. If you have slightly different screens? then SPA will make you a different centre post for a reasonable fee. Regards - Michael.
  2. Unintentional Posting 😳 Michael. Edited by - mcalvert on 27 Apr 2003 19:13:20
  3. Thanks to Peter Griffiths, I was pointed here: Mic Socks - The Flying Shop Tel: 01959 576370 or sales@flyingshop.com Microphone Socks (tie on) 2.99 inc vat If you are in a hurry, I do suggest phoning rather than e-mail as they seem to only deal with web enquiries in batch mode! BTW, they also do a fantastic bag for headsets which is £16 or so, which I find great when travelling. All the best - Michael.

    clutch cable

Andy, I had exactly the same thing on my car in the first 6 months of ownership - although rather an older car, I doubt that the clutch cable arrangement is any different. The problem for me was this: The eye on the end oc the cable is supposed to pivot as the pedal moves - if it siezes, then the cable itself bends every time the pedal is depressed. Adjusting the tightness of the nut holding the cable in, and a bit of grease every 6 months and I've never had one snap again. Hope this helps you too - Michael.
  5. Hmm- thanks for your feedback so far. My point is that it is very ambiguous if it states that "Engines" must have a secondardy mechanism. The main reason for my concern is that the only car that I saw with any throttle closing problem at Curborough last year was that his second spring which was fitted for the event was fouling the first! Regards -Michael.
  6. Can someone who knows please advise me regarding getting our 1700 Xflow ready for its first sprint later this year? I was of the belief that in order to pass scrutineering, I would need double external throttle return springs on the carbs, and I have heard other people say this also. However, reading the Blue Book E12.4.2 it simply states" Engines... must be equipped with a positive method of throttle closing by means of external spring/springs so that in the event of failure of any part of the throttle linkage the throttle(s) are sprung closed" To me, this means that the single external spring already fitted should be enough. Am I right? I appreciate your help as I don't want to get turned away from the first event! Thanks - Michael.
  7. There was a stand at Stoneleigh last year selling them for about £15-£20 if I remember properly. This was after I (stupidly) spend the Caterham price because I didn;t know where they came from ☹️ Michael.
  8. Tam and I would hope to also... Michael
  9. Certainly could be, depending on price... Thanks - Michael.

    Wheel-nuts!

So is the shape and angle of the Chamfer standard on all wheel nuts? Thanks - Michael.

    Wheel-nuts!

I was about to order some new wheel-nuts from Caterham becase after a few years, the chrome has come off and they're pretty rusty now. However, it got me thinking that they're pretty heavy, unsprung weight, so I'd quite like to get some open nuts which would look groovy and possibly be a few micro-grams lighter ❗ Anyway, I don't know if there is a particular pattern or spec to look for to fit securely on a 13" wheel - what should I be asking for please? Thanks - Michael.
  12. DOH! Ignore the above - I was thinking Brookands, not Aeroscreens. Sorry! Michael.
  13. I drilled the stanchion and countersunk it from below for the bolt head, then used stainless dome bolts on the top. I've used a bit of threadlock to make sure that they can't come undone and it's worked perfectly and looks good to my eyes. Regards, Michael.

    Cadwell-May 6th

Looks like the "reserve list" is a fairly busy place ☹️ Michael.
  15. Any idea what this complee conversion is likely to cost? Thanks - Michael.
  16. Sorry Sean - I've checked my collection and I've been a member f the club for about 3 years more than I realised, so I have all of these. I can't believe that some other member who joined more recenty wouldn't take you up on your offer though? Best of luck and thanks for the offer -Michael.
  17. Hello Sean - what period approx are these - if they are older than 3 years or so, I'll happily have them and give a good donation to NTL. Regards - Michael.
  18. Thanks Peter - I know this would be the place to come! regards - Michael. Edited by - mcalvert on 5 Feb 2003 12:10:22
  19. I think that the title says it all really. I have a 1991 Xflow, and I'm not happy with the front suspension. I have a 1/2" ARB which I feel allows a lot of body roll, and particularly after fitting 4pot brakes up front, there is a lot of dive under heavy braking. However, how do I determine which springs I have fitted - is there any easy way? Thanks, Michael. Edited by - Mcalvert on 4 Feb 2003 15:46:13
  20. Apparently, there are lots of "Post office" reds. I had a can mixed for me at a local motor factors, which is pretty much perfect on my car. The "formula" was apparently: TB40 - 61.0 11-65.3 54-82.4 59-101.7 No ideal what it means, but it did the job! Michael.
  21. I tried everything to clean them up and then seal the surface again. However, nothing lasted more than a couple of weeks. A new set is not that expensive - I asked the wife and she bought me a set for Christmas - since then, no problems. Michael.
  22. Hmm - looks like we need a few more for this to become commercially interesting. Any others? Michael.
  23. Assuming reasonable costs (not even sure in my mind what these are though...) I would be interested in having the hood modified. Any other takers? Michael.

    exhaust guard

For what size silencer? I've got one from my old rear exit system in the garage you're welcome to if you wanted it. It's standard ali but I'm sure could be easily powder coated. MC
  25. That sounds great Peter - your car will look fantastic. As for buying the Brooklands, you may want to get them directly from the manufacturers as many of us have done - Kimble Engineering, has the licence for the original screens - 01803 835757 and the guy there, Dave I think it was, is helpful and informative. They's also cheaper than from Caterham. Regards - Michael.
