  1. Hi All, Just to say that I now have most of the promised cheques - There are two more that I was told to expect, but I am going to place the order on Saturday, so if you want to join this, please hurry up Quaife said that there is a manufacturing run of these cases going through at the moment that should be ready in just under 2 weeks. Hopefully this will be ours although they will obviously not promise this until they have received our firm order... I'll keep all informed - Michael.
  2. I am interested in a spare Alternator. How does twenty pounds sound? However, this would have to be dependant on your location relative to mine as it probably wouldn´t be worth the postage cost otherwise.... Michael.

  4. Well, a most excellent daty was had. It stayed pretty much dry until the last session and Mallory is a much more interesting track that I had been led to believe. What's more, it does seem to live up to its "The Friendly Circuit" name with smiles from the marshalls, cooks in the clubhouse and all. It's just sad that this is the last trackday of the year for me ☹️ Great to meet lots of new faces. Hope you all had a safe (and dry!) trip home. Michael (H5 URF)
  5. A few washers under the bobbin where the exhaust is bolted onto the chassis at the back cag gain you a few precious mm. Michael.
  6. Right - Now we are getting somewhere. I now have the quote, and as long as we get 5 or more takers for the casing, and 4 or more for the lids, the prices are confirmed as follows. We can get the QMAMCSQ maincase for £280 + VAT = £329 instead of list £350+VAT = £411.25 We can get the QMATC5 Cover for £49.30+VAT = £57.92 instead of list £58 + VAT = £68.15 For some eason, the package price has come in about £6 more than previously quoted, but still a good discount overall. Shipping is £12 + Vat per order or they will ship the whole lot to one destination for £30 (perhaps of use if anyone is around the Bucks/Berks area and wants to pick up from me?) Peter- they have confirmed that the QMAMCS is the same product, but with some different machining to the lid. They confirm that they can provide this for the same price as above. So, if you are still interested, please could you confirm this to me at my home address Michael_calvert@dsl.pipex.com and put a cheque for the appropriate amount in the post. My home address is 35 Portland Close Burnham Berks SL2 2LT. Regards, Michael. Edited by - Mcalvert on 18 Oct 2004 19:44:35
  7. Called them this afternoon - they close at 3:30 on a Friday Wish I could go home at that time from work Will call first thing on Monday... They make a great product, but Not impressed with customer service skills at the moment. Michael.
  8. Well, after a week of waiting, they have finally come back with a quote - and it is wrong Will keep you updated... Michael.
  9. It was only at Le Mans this year that Shaun Elwell put me straight as to what a Merkin was. Suggest a quick Google search for those who don't know - probably best not done from a work account, however 😳 Michael.
  10. No problem Norman Hopefully you got my two mails back 😳 Michael.
  11. No Problem Andy. So I am sure though and do not double count, did you send me an e-mail from the address S*****b@aol.com? Thanks & Regards, Michael.
  12. Quick update - Matt at Quaife was supposed to be checking availabilty with the parts manager yesterday and coming back to me. He hasn't ☹️ I sent him a chasing e-mail at lunchtime and hope that by monday we will have an answer. Regards - Michael.
  13. Still waiting for quote from Quaife. Will let you know when they come back to me. Regards - Michael.
  14. As per the title - doesn anyone have a spare central mirror stem for an SPA mirror available? I know that a few people have gone for shorter/longer stems, and might have a spare knocking around? Thanks! Michael.
  15. OK - Quaife are preparing me a formal quote, then we should be good to go. Peter - where dod you find the reference QMAMCS? I cannot see it in their catalogue, but have asked them for their best price as part of this overall buy. Regards, Michael.
  16. OK – new Summary of who wants what. I propose to put a deadline of next Monday evening to close this. After this time, I will talk again with Quaife to see what deal we can get on the lids with the number of requests that we have. I will then request cheques for the appropriate value and place the order when I have these. I believe the current interest to be as follows. Any changes/additions, please let me know. Barry Train CONFIRMED - 1 x Alloy Gearbox case QMAMC5 Norman Verona CONFIRMED 1 x Alloy Gearbox case QMAMC5 Simon Bell CONFIRMED 1 Alloy Gearbox case QMAMC5 and 1 x Lid Myself CONFIRMED 1x Alloy Gearbox case QMAMC5 and 1x Lid David Chesney AWAITING CONFIRMATION 1 x Alloy Gearbox case QMAMC5 Nick D CONFIRMED 1x Alloy Gearbox case QMAMC5 Luke Beaumont CONFIRMED 1x Lid ONLY Regards, Michael.
  17. Ok - just waiting for re-confirmation from David and we will be good to go. David - if you could please drop me a note confirming that you are still interested, I'd appreciate it. Thanks - Michael.
  18. (As posted on ChitChat sorry for duplication) Ok - This is starting to look good. So far, we have interest from the following - each interested in 1 x Quaife Ford Sierra alloy main case (5 sp) part number QMAMC5 as seen on page 16 of Quaife's catalogue here Barry Train Norman Verona Simon Bell David Chesney Myself I would appreciate if you could re-confirm your interest in this to my home e-mail address which is michael_calvert@dsl.pipex.com If everyone confirms, we are ready to go. Based on this I'll confirm the order with Quaife and request a cheque for the value. This will then just leave the question of shipping to be resolved. if anyone else is interested in joining this bulk buy, please let me know ASAP. Best regards, Michael.
  19. Fit an alloy bellhousing? Quite a few kg saved for not too much money? Replace the clutch as you suggested. Clean the engine bay whild you have got good accesss. Oh, and if you are RAELLY bored while waiting for the engine to come back as I was, polish the exhaust! Michael.
  20. Right - here's the deal and it looks like a good one! The Alloy casing which saves 4.5kg is normally £345, they are willing to offer for £276 if we can get 5 orders together. The Layshaft which I believe is also required is normally £45 but they will offer for £36, again for a minimum order of 5. The Top cover which they recommend for additional strength they will reduce from £58 to £46.40 for 5. All of this is plus VAT and delivery to be discussed. Full details are on Page 16 of Quaife's catalogue - here We have 4 people interested so far. Anyone else? Regards - Michael.
  21. Right - that's 4 potential takers already. I'll give Quaife a call tomorrow and have a chat with them. Regards, Michael.
  22. Good suggestion Simon - I'll start a new thread to see who else would be interested. For me, the Quaife casinmg makes a lot of sense. It's not an AWFUL lot of money when rebuilding the gearbox anyway, and it's a very useful weight saving and a lovely and strong piece of kit. Regards, Michael.
  23. Sounds like the symptoms which I had a couple of years ago on the way to Le Mans. Turned out to be the coil as suggested above. A replacement from a French Scrappie cleared the problem for good! Michael.
