  1. I was about to order some new wheel-nuts from Caterham becase after a few years, the chrome has come off and they're pretty rusty now.

However, it got me thinking that they're pretty heavy, unsprung weight, so I'd quite like to get some open nuts which would look groovy and possibly be a few micro-grams lighter

Anyway, I don't know if there is a particular pattern or spec to look for to fit securely on a 13" wheel - what should I be asking for please?

    Thanks - Michael.

  2. I drilled the stanchion and countersunk it from below for the bolt head, then used stainless dome bolts on the top. I've used a bit of threadlock to make sure that they can't come undone and it's worked perfectly and looks good to my eyes.

    Regards,

    Michael.

  3. Sorry Sean - I've checked my collection and I've been a member f the club for about 3 years more than I realised, so I have all of these.

I can't believe that some other member who joined more recenty wouldn't take you up on your offer though?

Best of luck and thanks for the offer -Michael.

  4. I think that the title says it all really.

I have a 1991 Xflow, and I'm not happy with the front suspension. I have a 1/2" ARB which I feel allows a lot of body roll, and particularly after fitting 4pot brakes up front, there is a lot of dive under heavy braking.

However, how do I determine which springs I have fitted - is there any easy way?

    Thanks,

    Michael.

  5. Apparently, there are lots of "Post office" reds.

I had a can mixed for me at a local motor factors, which is pretty much perfect on my car.

    The "formula" was apparently:

    TB40 - 61.0

    11-65.3

    54-82.4

    59-101.7

No ideal what it means, but it did the job!

    Michael.

  6. I tried everything to clean them up and then seal the surface again. However, nothing lasted more than a couple of weeks.

A new set is not that expensive - I asked the wife and she bought me a set for Christmas - since then, no problems.

    Michael.

  7. For what size silencer? I've got one from my old rear exit system in the garage you're welcome to if you wanted it. It's standard ali but I'm sure could be easily powder coated. MC
  8. That sounds great Peter - your car will look fantastic.

As for buying the Brooklands, you may want to get them directly from the manufacturers as many of us have done - Kimble Engineering, has the licence for the original screens - 01803 835757 and the guy there, Dave I think it was, is helpful and informative. They's also cheaper than from Caterham.

    Regards - Michael.

  9. Hi - I assume that Penn is the last Saturday? If so, then yes, Tam and I certainly hope to be there. Sorry we weren't able to make the 7 Stars last week - I've heard reports that it was another good get-together!

    Michael.

  10. Colin,

Yes, there is a nut on the inside - taking the trim panel off is not difficult - If you have it riveted on, you can easily drill them out, then the panel comes out easily Replace the rivets with self-tappers, and the job is even easier next time. You may already have screws, so the job is even easier...

The suggestions from the others sound quite good as well though!

    Regards - Michael.

  11. Hi - can't part with any Brooklands screens but can strongly recommend buying them from Kimble Engineering on 01803 835757 rather than Caterham. They do them for £46 per side - my conversation went something like this.

ME - "I understand that you sell Brooklands Screens?"

Mr Kimble "No sir, we MAKE the Brooklands screens"

Nice guy, and they arrived within 2 days.

Now, if only Caterham could supply the stanchion I'd be sorted *mad*

    Regards - Michael.
