  1. I have had one for the past couple of years. My reason for changing is that I have fairly large valves and twice previously suffered cracks between inlet & exhaust ports of a standard head. The ally head is better designed to prevent this problem, and so far so good. I know that you can go fairly crazy on valve sizes on the ally head but I am sure at the expense of reliability. There's a serious weight saving too... Michael.
  2. First time I've had a chance to pit the GTI against a 7. Much as the Golf is a fabulous car, I have to admit that there's no comparison Michael.
  3. I was the nut trying to keep up in the Golf GTI behind you. Brightened up my trip in Michael.

  5. That would have been me Tam had "stolen" the tintop, leaving me no choice but to take the 7 to work. Nice day for it Michael.
  6. Big for Southern Carbs - they definitely will do the refurb for you, or just sell the refurb kits if you want to do it yourself.. Michael.
  7. Yes please if you do it again Michael.
  8. I can personally attest that saidTam is being plied with Champagne, that dinner is being cooked, that the pile of presents liiks like the N. face of the Eiger and that 23 is looking like a good age to be MC
  9. Aargh - it pains me greatly to say this, but you need the dash designer on this Westfield site here Just don't choose the "wood veneer" option - Please 😬 Michael. Edited by - Mcalvert on 4 Oct 2006 08:41:48
  10. Important think to make sure (I speak from experience having got it wrong) is that you make sure that the terminals are pushed properly home, and that it's not just the rubber book making contact. It's simetimes best top pull the book up a little to make sure that you have got the connector fully home. Good luck - Michael.

    SPA

First thing I will need to do when I arrive will be an oil and filter change as part of the running in. Anyone know if there are oil disposal facilities at SPA? Thanks - Michael.

    SPA

Wahoo *thumbup* Making SPA was looking very unlikely when I discovered that my Xflow block had a crack in it on the way to trhe MIRA sprint two weeks ago. However, a super rapid turn-around by Vulcan Engineering has got me a fully rebuilt engine on a fresh block within the fortnight. Put it in with the help of a friend on Saturday (the first time either of us had ever done anything like this without help from more knowedgeable people) and it started first time *smile* Just driven it to Southern Carbs who are going to set it up for me. So, it won;t exactly be fully run in, but SPA, here we come! Michael (currently rather happy 😬)
  17. Maybe this is a rare case of "they're both good companies to deal with!" I can only talk of BGH who were one of the rare companies to deal with who exceeded my expectations in terms of product & delivery when they rebuilt my box last year, and the bill was much lower than I'd expected. It looks like which ever way you go, you'll be looked after Michael.
  18. No problem Rob - what's your email address? Blatmail be if you prefer! Michael.
  19. The tab would be at the front - think of it as the "hinge" when peeling the door off... Michael.
  20. I've put some of mine online here Great day Michael.

  22. Yes, this is exactly what I have done, and at the weekend helped "Crudders" refit his the same way. Mayes removing the scuttle a doddle in the future. Regards - Michael.
  23. Bob - I have exactly the same - I balieve that for a limited period, Caterham made the "A" frame without the cross part. I understand that a regular upgrade was to have the 3rd tube retrofitted. Michael.
  24. I believe that it's down to the different versions of A Frame used and that the butress (the triangular protrusion on the tube to which the A frame is mounted) comes in narrow or wide. Happy to take any input from anyone else... Michael.
