Thanks all - problem sorted and clip located.
Regards- Michael.

No luck so far. Ford main dealer says that it's no longer available ☹️

I've just discovered that one of the clips that holds on the distributor cap on my Xflow has gone missin during its recent engine rebuild. The company who rebuilt it are trying to source one for me quickly, but I was hoping to get the engine back in this weekend with the help of good Mr Chiswick.
Other than scouring scrappies (do you even still get them these days?!?) doesn anyone have any ideas where I could talk to?
Thanks & regards,
Michael.

Charles - I'm interested if this hasn't gone. I would just need to check the thread to make sure that it matches my 5 speed from a 1991 car. Can you measure what diameter this is please?
Thanks - Michael.

Hmm, I get an error ☹️

As is mine where someone ran into the back of me - hit the spare wheel carrier which transmitted the shock to that bar without distorting the rear pannel.
Although I'd love to get it fixed, it has not led to any apparent handling effects on the road or track.

Just make sure that if the windscheen ends up more slanted backwards that your sidescreens do not rub on the rear wings when you open them. Michael

Looks like I missed quite a night!
Hey-Ho, there's always next year

Thanks - anyone in particular to ask for there?

When my Crossflow gets back on the road after its current refresh, I'd like to get the it properly set-up on a rolling road and have the map in the Alpha 3d ignition checked over.
Does anyone have any recommendations, preferably in the SE, for good mappers who have access to the Alpha software?
Thanks - Michael.

Thanks Jack - I do appreciate the offer! However, I'm getting quite excited about a new addition to the garage, so I think I'll order one for myself
All the best, and thanks to all for your suggestions & offers, Michael.

Thanks all - so it looks like the "Quality Ratchet crimper" at £30 in the site which Mark has suggested would be about right? Doesn't sound too expensive if this is an appropriate piece of kit?
Regards -Michael.

Hmm, looks like a new tol is needed. No, I only have a cheapy one without a ratchet. Any recommendations re makes/types to look for, or is it just a "ratchet crimper"?
OK, so I invest in the proper tool, then:
Strip insulation
twist strands together?
Dip in copper grease (what does this help with?)
Squeeze until ratchet mechanism does its bit
Do I need to worry about heat shrink sleeving?
Thanks all - Michael.

What is the best way to attach spade connectors and the like to wires? Whenever I use my crimping tool I end up with a connection which I never trust 100%. I then normally try to add solder and get in a mess
Is there a guide to best practice here? What about heat shrink and the like?
I've jusr received my Big Red starter button from RS components (ordered 7pm last night, delivered 08:40 this morning - amazing
) and want to make a good job when I do the wiring.
Thanks!
Michael.

And just to end a happy day, BGH have just called me - they's stripped my gearbox and quoted me less than I expected for the rebuild and conversion
*smile*

Thanks for that Norman! As Tam says, I now have to travel on business, and will miss the shed's do ☹️
However, if you could please bring this along for Tam, it would be much appreciated!
All the best - Michael.

Thanks Shaun - didn't think of that
Seriously, paint MIGHT do the job, but I'm looking for something which will go "in" the material, rather than ot on the top and possibly flake off.
Ian - Thanls for the hint - I'll have a look.
Michael.

OK, so a red leather dash isn't everyone's idea of great taste, but it's what our 7 came with and I'm (quite) attached to it.
However, it's rather tatty after 13 years of wear, particularly around the indicator switch where the colour has worn away. Does anyone know how I could restore it to its original colour without replacing the lot?
Thanks - Michael.

I bought one from Redline in Caterham only last week so suggest that you give them a call. Only cheap too! Michael.

Matt - not at all - I did exactly the same a couple of years ago and found that with no screen it was amazing fur for about 2 minutes, then pure pain!
I took the plunge and went Brooklands in my case and have never looked back however - go for it!
Michael.

Er, Brent...
This is 2004 and there is a great new thing called "All day Opening *smile*"
Mind you, when will we catch up with the rest of the world and have "all night opening" as well? Michael.

James Whiting happened to have one on the shelf.
Looks like the moral of the story is that these are getting like hen's teeth and should not be lost![*idea*](https://www.caterhamlotus7.club/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png)
