Is there nothing that a man can get away with these days
Good to see you Mark - and BTW, nice car!
Regards - MC

Great - hope to see you there ;-)

Anyone else camping between the trackday & sprint?
I understand that there is a campsite next to the circuit. Anything I need to know?
Regards - Michael.

Great
Thanks for the clarification

Looks like Tam and I will be taking a last minute place for the Llandow sprint nest week. This will be the first "non club" event that we have done. Is there anything different in the regs to be concerned about on a Welsh Counties CC event? For example, are aeroscreens OK?
Soory if this is a basic question, but with only a couple of days to go, and no joining instructions yet obviously, I would appreciate your advice.
Thanks - Michael.

Shaun,
Could you use a Dremel to shape out a hole of the appropriate size and depth? Otherwise, a rivnut seems like a good idea?
Michael.

Omex Sequential is the other obvious option. Smaller, cheaper, not quite so may bells and whistles but a great piece of kit.

Have you made sure that the end of the cable is well greased so that it can pivot OK where it is connected to the pedal? Otherwise, the cable gets bent each time you press it, rather than pivoting as should hapen. I had exactly this problem a couple of years ago and the cable broke exactly as you describe. Since then, I put a dab of grease on once every 6 months and it has not happened since.
All the best,
Michael.

If you are anything like me, this will not be the last popper that you break. I suggest ordering the tool from Caterham (£6 ish?) and a few spares. It'll be worth it in the long run.

I though I was the only Red Seven travelling down Burnham Lane in the mornings 😳
Anyone from here
Michael.

You weren't dreaming - I saw it on the M6 too.
I remember seeing it on the news a while back - some great British excentric playing with big toys

Doh! Just git back from a fantastic blat starting from Burnham, through Wycombe, Amersham and lots of back roads. Sorry Dave, Next time!

Last night I drove home through a blizzard with the car having sat outside at work all day.
As I set off, I realised something wasn;t right as the ignition light was glowing intermittently. Most of the way home it went out, but came back from time to time. After about 20 miles the car started misfiring, the lights got dimmer and she finally stopped about 500yds friom home
A jump start, and everything came up normal however, fully bright lights, no misfire etc.
My thoughts are that the alternator must be duff, but putting a multimeter across the battery when the engine was running shows a heathky 14.something Volts depending on revs. Is there anything else that could cause these symptoms or is it possible that this is an intermittent fault?
Thanks - Michael.

I cut a hole in the scuttle but it is very well hidden by the stanchion so it is not visible.
As the Omex lights need to be properly waterproof, I decided this was a better option than to try to open up the box. Cutting and re-joining the wires seems like a good plan though. Yes, it just tapped into the back of the tacho easily. Nice bit of kit!
I have intentionally mounted mine with velcro because it allows you to alter the angle for night time driving. Those LEDs are very bright otherwise...

Sorry, should have said that it's an Xflow.
Will check all connections again tonight, but could not see anything obviously amiss. What I don;t understand is that there are relays clicking, but no life. For example, if I press the horn switch, I hear a relay, but no power is delivered?
Michael.
-
No - please keep suggesting though!
Michael.

Thanks for the suggestion but just checked and tightened all connections and it's no better ☹️

I popped around there this afternoon and it was definitely locked up. Looks like it was their half day...

Right, I spent part of this afternoon wiring up my starter button and ignition switch.
All went well and it WAS working fine
However, after tidying up the wiring, the instruments are now absolutely dead. I can still start the car, but nothing registers on any of the instruments bar the indicator lights. I can hear a click from a relay when I turn on the ignition, but nothing more. I've checked all of the fuses, but cannot find one that relates directly to the instruments. Where should I look next please?
It may be a red herring, but the red ignition light has stopped working also. I had been having problems with a loose connection in this previously. However, I've temporarily swapped the bulb from the main beam headlights, and still no luck. Obviously, this also means that the alternator is no longer charging the battery…
All thoughts appreciated...
Michael.
5 to 6 speed gearbox for xflow

Mike - if you go for new ratios in a 5 speed box (I did last year with BGH) then you can always change the bellhousing for an Ali one. Probably the cheapest weight saving per £ you can do. I got mine from Raceline.
If weight saving is really a concern, you can also change the gearbox maincase to ali - either from Quaife, or I believe that BGH may now do their own
