That would be Tony Whitley - I was doing my very best to keep up with him on the way home from work last night. Unfortunately my Golf GTI was not a match for the 7 but it was fun trying Michael.
  2. And wear gloves while fitting - otherwise very itchy! Michael.
  3. Thanks - mine is a 91 chassis so obviously we have the same problem. Do you remember if you had two different widths of shims front and back? Regards, Michael.
  4. Looks like you are right - I have the double shear muntings but the pre 97 pick up points. Does anyone know what bolt sizes are needed all round for the front wishbones in this configuration? My manuals old and new do not cover this... Thanks - Michael.
  5. Just found that the top hats packed with the front dampers are thinner so used them instead. May have moved the problem for when I come to do the front - we'll see! Thanks - Michael.
  6. I'm having trouble fitting my new rear Nitron dampers. With the top hats and runner washers fitted, they seem to be a couple of mm wider than my old AVOs and won't fit between the brackets ☹️ Am I doing anything obvious wrong, or do Nitron do different size top hats for different cars? Thanks - Michael. Edited by - Mcalvert on 20 Jan 2008 15:45:41
  7. Hi - My chassis has come back from Arch ith "updated" front suspension pick up points which seem to require a single bolt to go through the rear upper wishbone and the damper. The hardware pack which I got from Caterham does not seem to cater for this and I cannot find a size in any manual. Does anyone know what size this should be please? Thanks, Michael.
  8. Hi - Chris - thanks for bringing this to my attention. What size holes approx are needed in the bottom chassis rails? I would certainly be interested in this subject to not needing too much cutting... Regards - Michael.

    Rebuild Update

A big thanks and to Mark Durrant and Shaun for their help at the weekend. H5 URF is starting to look a bit more like a car than a pile of bits. Plenty more to go but Tam and I will be back! All the best - Michael.
  10. Re the question on sew on badges on racesuits needing to be fire retartant and sewn on with fire retartant thread, we have looked through the blue book and cannot find reference to this requirement . Does anyone have any pointers tyo what we may have missed, or was this a proposal that did not end up being ratified?
  11. Mike - I have one sitting in the garage doing nothing - yours for a donation to NTL if you want it. Not sure how best to get it to Bristol though - I am Jn 7 of the M4. Regards, Michael.

    Rebuild Update

Bad luck Rob I'm sure it will be worth it when you get it back though... Michael.

    Rebuild Update

Anything's possible, but I've a feeling I might get a bit precious about my nice new paintwork and not let anyone near with a beer in their hand (except myself obviously)... Michael.

    Rebuild Update

Right - According to TSK, I should have the car back ready for the weekend of the 12th January, so I know what my weekends are going to be filled with for the forseeable future ❗ If anyone is free and fancies lending a hand in the rebuild, they will be made extremely welcome! Happy New Year to All! Michael.

    Tillets

Long shot, but does anyone have a set of Tillets for sale (maybe after over indulging at Xmas?!?) Michael.

    Rebuild Update

All the gear and no idea - that's me! Particularly when it comes to the electrics - unfortunately, the first thing to go in! Michael.

Rob - with the offers of help that I have had (thanks all!) I think you've got a race on your hands! All the best - Michael.

Wow - thanks all - I'm now feeling less worried about this rather daunting prospect! Hope to see some of you "chez Calvert" in the new year! Thanks again - Michael.

    Rebuild Update

As you may know (or have seen on the "fridge door" in this month's LF) - our car H5 URF has made a visit back to Arch for a rebuild. As of today she should be at TSK for painting and we hope to have the chassis back in the garage early in the new year. Stripping the car was a major step for me, not being the most mechanically minded, so the rebuild will be another step into the unknown. The plan is, if possible, to have the car back on the road for the Llandow shakedown on 29 March, and whatever happens, ready for the beginning of the Sprint season. If there is anyone who is able to lend a hand for a few hours at the weekend in the new year to help make this possible, we'd really appreciate it We live in Burnham, between Maidenhead, Windsor and Slough, just off of jn 7 of the M4. If anyone has the time to spare to help - that would be fantastic - happy to make donation to NTL to help us get back onto road and track.... Many thanks - Michael & Tam. 20. Rivnuts for the scuttle - makes it a doddle to remove in future Michael.
  21. Can't help with the rev limit question, but I'd be lost without the shift lights when on track. They are just in your peripheral vision and provide the information needed to get your shift points rigjht. I use the Omex unit which is small, easy to set up and very effective. Michael.
  22. Hi Andrew! I use the SPA Formula mirrors - I used to have the flat glass on the side mirrors, but am getting convex for next year for a better field of view. However, the problem that I found (and I believe that this is common) is that the standard stalks are too short and do not look sufficiently above the rear wheel arches. If you call SPA directly, they will do you a longer pair of arms which overcome this problem - I forget the exact additional height but it's something line 1"1/2 and it makes a lot of difference. Regards - Michael.
  23. Angus - it's being worked on at Arch - hopefully will come back painted and ready to start reassembly before Christmas Michael.
