  1. I have hard-wired in some power sockets to be able to connect video camera etc more conveniently. I have wired these through the rectifier supplied for the camera and then through an inline fuse, directly to the battery. However - if the rectifier constantly takes current, I will need to move it to a switched live - so, does it?? Thanks - Michael,
  2. Eek - sorry Andrew - just noticed my major typo. It is the 1994 - 1996 that I actually meant I am looking for - sorry! Michael.
  3. Doh! Picked this one up late. I have been desperately trying to complete my set of LF from 2004-2006 with a range of isues I am missing. If, for whatever reason, you are not that bothered about issues in this region, would be happy to pay you, NTL or whatever a decent fee for issues I am missing in these years! Michael.
  4. Many thanks for all your advice. Problem now fixed - it was actually the starter motor (only 7 months old ) - the casing was breaking down and the whole assembly was twisting, to the extent that it seemed to be actually stopping the flywheel from turning freely. Changed and all now fine again! Michael.
  5. Last week on the way to Pembrey, the car would not start. (Xflow on 3D ignition, otherwise fairly standard) - It was as if the battery was dead - starter motor would only just turn over, and there was an unusual "clonk". We connected jump leads to another car, but there was no change at all. We then tried to bump start the car - no joy. Finally we towed it behind Simon Rogers van and finally it started (but really did NOT want to go). However, once started It then ran fine for the rest of the day and 200 miles home. The car has been on a battery condtioner for the past few days -tried to start it - same problem - starter motor barely turning over and again, a rather nasty sounding "clonk" - Any ideas where to start? I guess whip the starter motor out and look for anything obvious -what else? Edited by - mcalvert on 13 Jun 2009 15:45:46
  6. This kit, mounted on a bench grinder, bolted to a workbench is the way to go :here Michael.
  7. Was that just a gratuitous excuse to use the word "gusset" Mr D Michael. Founder Member of Drowned Rat Racing and current Holder of the Golden Trowel 😬
  8. Blokko - I've actually got an even nicer one from the series, but I'm keeping that behind to see what Tony could do with it Anyone else who wants a copy of any of the pics, please drop a mail to michael_calvert at dsl dot pipex dot com Michael.
  9. Andy - No problem - YHM. Michael.
  10. Another enjoyable weekend despite the weather. Some of my photos here MANY, MANY thanks to all those who have helped get H5 URF closer to being back on the road/track, and to Robin Brackett for being mad enough to let the current Golden Trowel holder anywhere near his car Michael. 11. MANY thanks to all for your kind offers. Some tempting bits of kit to drive there Fingers crossed that I won't need to take you up on your offers and that through Simon and Kevins fantastic help, H5 URF will be back on the road again. Otherwise, I may keep you to your promises. Hmm, maybe if I enter in several cars I could maximise my chances of success (or equally, pick up the maximum number of Trowel points 😬) Michael.
  12. Despite herculean efforts from Simon and Kev it sounds like the damage to H5 URF may be worse than thought. Would anyone be mad / trusting enough in class 3 to let me double drive their car? (obviously on a 'you bend it, you mend it' basis)... Michael. Edited by - mcalvert on 13 May 2009 21:55:31
  13. Mark - As you know, I think this is a fantastic idea, and am in greatful admiration of the support and help that is offered in the paddock to get competitors back on the road and track. I would just suggest a good suggestion of suspension, engine & gearbox bolts, nuts and washers. From a Crossflow perspective, I know the problem of finding appropriate imperial bolts in South wales, for example. Could caterham or Redline make us up a "common" selection? Michael.
  14. Memories of a great day here Michael.
  15. Nigel - I believe I do - drop me your addresss & I'll pop it in the post. Michael.
  16. What sort of heat would be needed for that though - more than a blowtorch I would have thought? Michael.
  17. Thanks Mark. Photo of my miscalculation here If I can't get these straightened out, Caterham have their race stays on their website - should these fit over 215 profile Kumhos? Thanks - Michael.
  18. I've been making a real meal of getting my wingstays cut down, ready for the first club sprint at Goodwood. Ready for my wider front wheels, I have some new RIF wings to fit, and have had my old standard wingstays cut down to hug the tyres better. However a trial fitting this morning shows the vertical part of the wingstay now touches the inside of the tyres My only thought is to try to bend the upright more vertical, then bend the tops back to horizontal. However, as there are already welds where the stays were cut down, I would appreciate any advice about my chances of success without heating them. Any thoughts welcomed... Michael.

A dastardly plan which I will try to defeat by pullling my finger out & getting the problem sorted! Michael. Edited by - Mcalvert on 25 Mar 2009 22:50:50

Does anyone know if there is a regulation in the blue book about tyres exceeding the width covered by the front wings? I am struggling to find time to get my wingstays shortened before Goodwood and would rather not fit my new wider wings until this has been done... Am struggling to find any reference to this in the B.B. Thanks - Michael Edited by - mcalvert on 11 May 2009 21:53:02
  24. Chris - Looks like my list was sooooo 2008 - must update for 09! Malcolm - good point 😬 Michael,
