  1. Blush Looks like normal service is resumed with H5 URF. The reunion with the trowel was an emotional one (thanks for the "presentation" Suzanne!) I never liked golf anyway, so how can the golfers fail to appreciate the two new furrows acrosws their green? Michael.
  2. Can someone please lift the current curse on H5 URF. It started at the end of last year when a rear bearing failed at Pembray. Thanks to lots of help we got her fixed. Then this year I have had • broken reak diff mounting (Llys y Fran fixed through lots of help from the club - you know who you are! • Throttle stuck open on last run (MIRA) • Drove into bank (Curborough quite a lot of damage, didn't do my confidence a great deal of good. Recovered and greatly helped by club members - there's a theme emerging here...) So today I decide to get over my 'worry' at Curborough with a sneeky test day. Brake into Fradley, brake pedal goes to the floor. Car just stops in front of the exact same bank I hit 3 months ago. Front hub casting had neatly snapped ... Currently awaiting the AA :-( Michael. 6. Robin - yes, Mr Sankey put in a stellar drive again to win class 4 😬 😬 😬 (In all seriousness, in the wet on Saturday I seem to remember that Mike wasn't far off the lead of calss 5 😳) Michael.
  7. Really sorry to hear this ☹️ I always enjoy our little rivalry! Hope you're back behind the wheel v. soon Michael.
  8. In the post tonight Now, Mr Bracket - about borrowing your car again 😬 Michael.
  9. No chance Being conceived at a sprint venue would just give TOO much of an advantage to a future young driver. "Old Man Calvert" couldn't handle the competition Michael
  10. So that's BOTH Gibsons getti8ng a speed upgrade Looking forward to seeing you guys soon - Michael.
  11. RJ - can you define "correctly" for me please? I have - 2 wires coming from the battery, going through an inline fuse (on the live side). These then split through a block with 2 wires going to a cigarette lighter, and two through the rectifier. The 2 wires coming out of the rectifier then are split through another block, and go to 2 2.5mm power sockets through the bulkhead - does that sound OK?
  12. I dab of loctito on the bolts to stop them coming loose? Michael
  13. Geoff - do you live in Haddenham? My parents live there and they keep mentioning seeing a 7 about. Whenever I visit, it's nowhere to be seen?!? Michael.
  14. I have hard-wired in some power sockets to be able to connect video camera etc more conveniently. I have wired these through the rectifier supplied for the camera and then through an inline fuse, directly to the battery. However - if the rectifier constantly takes current, I will need to move it to a switched live - so, does it?? Thanks - Michael,
  15. Eek - sorry Andrew - just noticed my major typo. It is the 1994 - 1996 that I actually meant I am looking for - sorry! Michael.
  16. Doh! Picked this one up late. I have been desperately trying to complete my set of LF from 2004-2006 with a range of isues I am missing. If, for whatever reason, you are not that bothered about issues in this region, would be happy to pay you, NTL or whatever a decent fee for issues I am missing in these years! Michael.
  17. Many thanks for all your advice. Problem now fixed - it was actually the starter motor (only 7 months old ) - the casing was breaking down and the whole assembly was twisting, to the extent that it seemed to be actually stopping the flywheel from turning freely. Changed and all now fine again! Michael.
  18. Last week on the way to Pembrey, the car would not start. (Xflow on 3D ignition, otherwise fairly standard) - It was as if the battery was dead - starter motor would only just turn over, and there was an unusual "clonk". We connected jump leads to another car, but there was no change at all. We then tried to bump start the car - no joy. Finally we towed it behind Simon Rogers van and finally it started (but really did NOT want to go). However, once started It then ran fine for the rest of the day and 200 miles home. The car has been on a battery condtioner for the past few days -tried to start it - same problem - starter motor barely turning over and again, a rather nasty sounding "clonk" - Any ideas where to start? I guess whip the starter motor out and look for anything obvious -what else? Edited by - mcalvert on 13 Jun 2009 15:45:46
  19. This kit, mounted on a bench grinder, bolted to a workbench is the way to go :here Michael.
  20. Was that just a gratuitous excuse to use the word "gusset" Mr D Michael. Founder Member of Drowned Rat Racing and current Holder of the Golden Trowel 😬
  21. Blokko - I've actually got an even nicer one from the series, but I'm keeping that behind to see what Tony could do with it Anyone else who wants a copy of any of the pics, please drop a mail to michael_calvert at dsl dot pipex dot com Michael.
