If you have a mechanical speedo cable, remember to remove it before you swing the engine out. Otherwise, it's an expensive part to replace when you break it (been there, done that...)

Hmm, would be interested in the answerre the gates shutting at night but can confirm that at least 4 of us (Shaun & Gill Elwell, Tam Calvert & Myself) will be there on Friday, plus no doubt loads more
From memory last year (did not camp that time) there are portaloos but can't picture much more...
See you Friday!
Michael.

Thanks - Tam and I should be there unless Gill entices her to some shopping village nearby 🤔
I tried to interest Gill in a visit to Nitron yesterday but she muttered something about a preference for sticking needles in her eyes?!

Hope to be there - do we need to book or is it a "turn up" kind oif event?

From Tam and I, all the very best for tomorrow and for the happiest married life!
H5 URF iis currently doing her touring duties on our way to the Bordeaux region but stripped of baggage she will soon be back trying her best on the speed circuit.
All the very best and see you you both soon,
Michael & Tam.

Andy - Curborough usually has a great turn-out but I am sure you would get in no problem as long as you return the forms in good time. Just go for it!
If you need any advice, there are plenty of us speed championship contenders in Berks & Bucks who would be happy to help!
Michael.

Seconded on behalf of Drowned Rat Racing team members

Hmm, glad I'm not the only one who is lobster coloured.
Great day with the exception of Mrs Kipper's off - hope the damage can be quickly fix *wavey*ed
Some superb times, and an especially big 😶🌫️ to Jeff for blitzing class 3 (with surely a class record time?).

Thanks for the info! Looking forward to it
Have spoken to Caterham parts and all should be sorted for next week

Well, I am just glad that I'm not the only sad bod thinking about next week at this time on a Friday evening ...
Thanks for the input - Adrian, I may take you up on your offer (although unless Caterham deliver me the steering column bushes I have on order, we could yet miss 3/3 MIRAs... ☹️

MIRA seems to be the bogey track for H5 URF. The last 2 years, we have been unable to attend despite having been booked, because of mechanical maladies.
So, what is the key to getting MIRA right - I appreciate that there are no videos available, so can someone please talk me round?

For years I admired a 7 at ARM's offices in Maidenhead. Muct bethe same one?

Yesterday, on the way back from doing a trackday and two days of sprints at Pembrey, I had exactly the same failure
Luckily, about 3 miles away from the circuit on the way home, at low speed pulling out of a petrol station.
My upper steering column was the QR type, probably 8-9 years old. Again, the cutout for the clamp was not radiused. I would strongly suggest that people check to see if their cutout is radiused or not and if of a similar age, consider changing it. For the cost of the part, the consequences of this happening when at any sort of speed are not worth thinking about.

My turn for the thanks - both to club members and to some "greater power" 🤔
A cracking weekend as has been said by everyone else - a relaxed trackday, and two days of closely competitive sprinting around a fast and demanding course.
My "Yellow Trowel" award on Saturday way certainly deserved
- travelling sideways at high speed down the grass, looking at the approaching tyrewall was a sobering experience, but no damage other than a bit of gravel-rash and a pounding heart.
Today, an alltogether more successful start to the day for H5 URF, which stayed on the grey stuff until the end of the day. 😬 Then, drove a couple of miles to fill up - pulled put of the petrol station, turned right and ... the steering wheel came off in my hand. The upper steering column had sheared and I was left at 90º across the road. Thanks to Nigel Fox, & Alan Johnson for getting me off the road, and especially to Adrian & Dom who took Adrian's car to bits so I could drive home. What a great club
Roll on MIRA - Michael.

Please Sir - Is this worth any extra points in the championship?
Michael.

[hunts for java lie detector plug-in to work out if D. Nelson is winding us up or not]
The lure of Le Mans not enough for you next weekend David?
Michael.

No Geoff, there are definitely no places available and I heard the trackday was likely to be cancelled anyway so I'm sorry but no sneaky practice is at all possible before the next round. Even if there were to be a day available, the trackday is run on a totally different circuit so it would not help you anyway.
Oh alright, see you there on Friday
Michael.

I would protest, if it were not for rather spectacular photographic evidence here
(all credit to David Lynch for the photo!)
