  1. What a fantastic event Gurston was. Great hill, fantastic organisation, usual friendly banter and close competition. I can't remember a closer finish in class 3 where the top 4 runners were separated by a mere 0.06 secs - very well done to Mark Gibson for his last run to take the class win. The rest of us were left to imagine the impossibly short distances represented by the fraction of a second advantage he managed to find! I think I am speaking for quite a few in the paddock who are hoping that this will become a permanent fixture on our calendar Michael. Edited by - Mcalvert on 30 May 2011 10:01:51

Stuart - you missed the control engine. X-Flow of course Michael.
  3. After last weekend there is quite a lot of updating needed already Michael

    Goodwood Video

Rob - You're a wuss. As I proved last year, a real man (tries) to take No Name FLAT (ish ) Michael.
  5. Good to see everyone there Some photos here Roll on next week to get H5 URF back on track... Michael.
  6. I believe that the Llandow campsite belongs to the same people who own the circuit, so no problem there. I also remember from a couple of years ago that there is a Chinese in Llantwit Major that is happy to deliver to the campsite too for a nominal charge Michael.
  7. Yokohama recommend that the front tyres on a rear wheel drive car be run "backwards" (can't put my hand on their leaflet to this effect immediately, but it has been posted here before), so I can't think there would be any problems. Only possible issue with doing anything other than recommended by the manufacturer could be in the case of an accident and insurance claim though - worth keeping in mind? Michael.
  8. What class is Mike expecting to compete with that in? The Blue Book doesn't seem to talk about a "Sub 1 litre shopping cart" class 🤔 Michael.
  9. Rover.... Rover 🤔 Hang on, yes I seem to remember them. They were some British manufacturer of horeseless carriages that went out of business sometime in the last millenium weren't they? Did they really make their own engines too? Of course, some of us have cars equipped with engines from current manufacturers like Ford 😬 I'll get my coat. I think I left it near the drip tray under the car. Michael.
  10. I'm surprised not to have seen anyone comment on Autoglym as our new sponsor. As far as I am concerned, a big to them for sponsoring us, and well done to the organising team for sorting this out! Roll on the start of the season - Michael.
  11. Thanks but I really want to change my existing AP LSD to 4.11, so I'll pass on the swap for now. All the best - Michael.
  12. Long shot, but anyone have a 4.11 ration CWP surplus to requirements? Thanks - Michael.

    Emerald ECU

As it says Not particularly worried about type, or having the wiring loom. Would also consider OMEX. ANyhthing out there on a shelf needing a home? Michael.
  14. Word of warning when calibrating the Stack fuel gauge. Don't whatever happens drain the fuel to a minimum to set the "empty" level, set off for to the fuel station to register the "full" level but get tempted to "just go for a quick spin " first instead. Having to call your wife to come out with a jerry can to get you going again is very embarrassing Michael. Edited by - Mcalvert on 20 Jan 2011 14:44:47
  15. A can of carb cleaner works wonders too, as you might expect Michael.
  16. I must not bite, I MUST NOT BITE NNNNGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!! Michael.
  17. Daddy says he's looking for money down the back of the sofa, but has only found 2p and a slightly fluffy boiled sweet

    Books

Assuming it's Tony Weale Lotus Seven: Preparation, Restoration and Maintenance- I'll have it please! Michael.
  19. I ran with the original studs for a couple of years. I then met a very thorough scrutineer at Harwood hillclimb who pointed out (having spent ages with his micrometer) that I was JUST outside of the MSA regulations that say that you have to have 1.5x the diameter of stud as depth within the nuts. I was something like 1.46x from memory Anyway, I got to compete, but did change them when I rebuilt the car that winter. Michael.
  20. Here's one of how H5 URF looked before the rebuild a few years ago here Michael. Edited by - Mcalvert on 11 Nov 2010 09:42:04

    Heater removaL

Gill - I have to back Shaun up here. It is generally recognised that heaters are compatible with engines of up to approx 240bhp. Above that and their behaviour becomes unpredictable and is not recommended. If the planned engine upgrade could take you into this "danger zone" (will it?) then the car would be far safer heaterless. If you need any more helpful advice, feel free to blatmail me and I'll be happy to help Michael.
  22. Great stuff! Welcome to class 3 The more the merrier, and roll on a great competition next year Michael.
  23. Looks like the distinction between 1.8 Zetec and 2.0 Zetec might come into play them. Raceline quote peak torque of 146 lb/ft for their 160bhp 2.0l Michael.
