Unfortunately, the JW cast sumps are like the proverbial hen's teeth and went out of production a few years back. The last one I saw sold for several hundred pounds...
Great bit of kit if you can get excited by sumps! MC

Thanks both - have pumped up and down but to no avail.
Short of oil soungs plausible - silly question, assume it is "hydraulic oil" - where do I get that from?
Thanks - Michael.

I borrowed a friend's dad's engine crane to get H5 URF's engine out, but unfortunately, it is not working properly. Symptoms are that it will only pump half way up, then won't go any higher.
I suspect that it needs to be topped up with fluid, or possibly have a defective seal somewhere. Does anyone have any experience of servicing these?
Thanks - Michael.

Who needs more than 8 valves anyway 🤔

Malcolm - My measured back-depth on my existing 8 spokes which I provided was 113mm but I hope to receive the new MBs tomorrow and will take dimensions then.
Mike is very knowledgeable and worth chatting with too...

Only available from Caterham Midlands and then, only officially to Caterham racers. Might be time for some sweet talking!

Can I make the leap of faith in that case that they would accept that a mechanical fuel pump (yes, some of of XFLOW luddites still run these) - is driven from the engine and is therefore directly controlled from the ignition?

Does anyone know if these are the same as for the standard FIA bar?

Does anyone have the size of the bolt that goes through the alternator strap into a Xflow block please. I've lost one and need to buy a replacement. Thanks!

Thanks Guys.
I do not have a rear ARB at all, although I did have the pick-up points added by Arch last year so that I could add one if I wanted to. Based on this, I take it that I could select an ARB that would fit with the wheels if I ever decided to go that route rather than worry now?
Adrian - really appreciate your offer that I would ordinarily take you up on like a shot. However, I tried to give the car a final run of the year yesterday but It's decided "season over" unfortunately. It's thereore now off the road and the engine/gearbox out stripdown has started...
I can't see myself replacing the Crossflow with anything else, so not too worried about the ability to go with wider rears. So, it would look like 5" rims and 2.5" outers should be the way to go. Does this wider track do much to the suspension geometry that needs to be thought about?
Regards,
Michael.

Right - I have bored enough people with silly questions to help me select the right dimension of MB wheels. Shaun was very helpful earlier and based on this, I am getting nearer to understanding what I need. I just don't want to make an expensive mistake!
The objective is to fit 215/50R13 Kumhos front and back. Ideally, it would be nice to be able to swap around front and backs, but this is not a must. I have a set of RIF front wings on order.
I understand that the perfect rim for a is 8" but most people go 7.5" - Is there a practical reason for this?
We measured the backdepth of my current wheels at 4 1/2", and there is less than 1/2" netween the inner of my tyres currently and the wingstay, so the additional width compared to my current 6" rims must go on the outside.
So - what are the measurements that I need to ask for before I have a chat with Mr Barnby please? The website here offers a wealth of choices....
Thanks - Michael.

Hi Chris,
No experience of the CC setup but an say that the change to the Alcon setup a fair few years ago was a revalation... Main benefit to me is that it still uses the standard disks which are cheap to change when worn, and I do not believe are in any way a limiting factor in such a light car (heavily used in sprints, hillclimbs and trackdays as you know...)
Changed to the race master cylinder this year - takes a bit of getting used to but after a couple of outings, a definite further improvement.
Call me if you want to try / discuss!

I work very near Camberley so could pick up very easily. We would struggle to fit the parts in on the way to Anglesea but could drop them off for Andrian to bring up?

Michael.

Sooooo glad I havn't had a glass of wine tonight. This is such a tempting price for a great car and I might not be able to restrain myself....
Brent Iknew I had seen that car somewhere before. In that case, it was the first Fireblade I ever had a ride in when it visited Montignac on the Bordeaux Blat!
