  1. Raplf - You may not want to split, but I'd REALLY like to have your early Low Flyings - the 89-94. They would complete my collection a treat. Happy to make a donation to NTL for the privilege of course.... I understand if you want to keep them together however. Regards - Michael.
  2. Would be interested to hear of anyone who has successfully done this on "old" CF. I spoke to TSK about lacquering my front wings a couple of months ago, but the feedback was that although it would look great for a while, because it is difficult to get an adequate key onto the existing material, in time the laquer would start to peel. Michael.
  3. must add them to my list of stands to visit On a more serious note, who is going to Autospo and when? I'm planning on being there on Thursday. Hope to 'bump in' to some friendly faces there? All the best Michael
  4. Many thanks for the offer Stuart, but Roger has been a star and has got this sorted for me. Now I just need to convince the 2 year old that it's not a handle to swing from... All the best - Michael
  5. Fantastic evening, great organisation, brilliant company... Some photos here as a reminder to anyone who found their recollection of parts of the evening a little hazy 😳 Michael. Edited by - Mcalvert on 20 Nov 2011 22:31:51
  6. To be honest, I'm not, because it's rather rogered I ran an M5 die down an old SPA mount and it cleaned the thread up nicely, but the material is so soft that I may actually have been been cutting a new thread. At least based on that, if I can fit an M5 helicoil to the stem, I can mate it to an M5 mount... Michael.
  7. The internal thread on the stem of my SPA mirror has become enlarged (probably by a 2 year old using it as a handle to get into the 7 ) See here I would just replace it, but as it was made to a custom length, I'd rather try to repair it. I have no experience of helicoil inserts and wanted to know if that was a possible solution. The thread needs to be M5 - the current size of the hole is 4.84mm and the OD of the stem is 9.9mm Is a helicoil the right solution and is there likely to be enough material to fit it? Even more cheekily, is there anyone in the Bucks/Berks area with a helicoil kit I could borrow, or could anyone do this for me for some beer tokens or some cash to NTL? Many thanks - Michael.

    Towing limits

I can't comment on the legality but I believe that Chris Alston "Aeroscreens" trailors his 7 behind a diesel Focus very successfully... [EDIT] I've just seen that he's already posted on your other thread Michael. Edited by - Mcalvert on 20 Oct 2011 21:36:55
  9. Thanks for sharing Richard I did consider a compilation of my weekend's spins, but decided it would be so long that nobody would be able to stay awake to the end Michael.
  10. Major congratulations to Tom - from novice champion to class champion in one step - RESPECT. Well done to Mark Gibson for his win on Saturday too I was too busy spinning to take many pictures, but the one which I think sums up Saturday (and I hope Richard won't mind ) is here All the best -Michael
  11. Eurgh 😳 Besides - what actually "is" it? A Lotus 7 from 1993? I don't think so... Michael.
  12. A very nice run indeed - a well deserved win Shaun Now I see your video, I understand the line you were trying to describe to me for Fradley Michael
  13. This request may, or may not, have something to do with this Here Ideally, we could do with 2 easy to move video cameras that could be mounted to facine the driver (Go Pro or equivalent?) so we can capture the gory details. Anyone able to lend such an item for a short while during the lunch break at Curborough on Saturday? Many thanks - Michael
  14. Many thanks! I have been to Think Automotive today and bought the bolt and 2 washers (for a bit more than it would have cost from Merlin by the look of it). However, I still had problems getting it to seal properly - I may now have it sorted but the heavens opened before I had a chance to really test it. Funnily enough, I wasn't too keen to see if I had stopped the fuel leak by running the car inside our integral garage Michael.
  15. Now THAT is good news. The class 3 battle continues :-) Looking forward to Curbs already... Michael
  16. Ooh, about twopence ha'penny plus a boiled sweet I should think. Want to do a deal? Michael
  17. Yes - Sam sent out the form on the 21st with the following message. I'm glad to say that the balance between Caterham and Westfield has improved significantly but we still need to get as many entries as possible to help defend the inter-club challenge cup! Michael. -------------------------------------------------- The Curborough Marshals Sprint is once again being held on the Saturday before the main L7 Club event, so although results will not count towards our championship, this will be an excellent opportunity for some sneaky practice. Just in case this is not enough of a carrot to attend, not only are entrants directly supporting the Marshals Club, (people without whom we would be unable to compete at all) but this will be the second running of the Inter-Club Challenge, pitting us against the Westfield Sports Car Club. Last year, some excellent driving (and it has to be said, our strength in numbers) meant that the Lotus 7 Club proudly took home the trophy. The Westfield Club are obviously deeply miffed by this, as they have now made this event a championship round on their calendar to ensure the largest possible turnout and try to snatch the trophy back. As before, respective Club performances will be calculated relative to class records. So, it is up to each of us to do our duty and fight to retain what is rightfully ours! At present, Westfield entries outnumber L7 by nearly 3 to 1 – please help redress the balance by completing the attached application form… As well as the main on-track action, there will be some “extra” activities designed to allow Mark Durrant the chance to avenge his mauling by the Westfield Club chairman at last year’s inaugural event (see last month’s Low Flying for the photo). 18. 2 Calvert entries will be in the post tonight :-) Michael

So... Come on then, what happened? MIichael.
  20. David - I can only assume that the organisers have looked at your signature and drawn the only conclusion possible re what class you belong in 😬 Michael.
  21. That's a stonking looking run Mark - congratulations on another great result Michael. Edited by - Mcalvert on 26 Jun 2011 20:38:20
  22. Hopefully you'll be back in the fold soon Clive David - I think you should change your signature otherwise we'll understand where your stellar class 3 performances are coming from Michael. Edited by - Mcalvert on 14 Jun 2011 16:48:56
  23. Robin - very sad to see you are considering selling up. However if your car had been up for sale at the end of last year, I would have snapped it up without any hesitation. Unfortunately (fortunately??) my burning desire to change to a Superlight has subsided so I'll stay with H5 URF for a while yet. Having said that, as I have been keeping half an eye on the market, I am not aware of any genuine Superlights having come up for sale in the last 8 months so I think that values should be pretty strong... All the best Michael
  24. As per the title, does anyone have any good photos from last year's August marshall's sprint please? I'm particularly after any paddock shots that show a Caterham and a Westfield together. Yes - It's soon going to be time for some (friendly?) goading of the WSCC "lot" in anticipation of a rematch of the Inter-Club challenge at Curborough between the L7C and the Westfield Sports Car Club. More details to follow but whether you are a competitor or a spectator, please try to keep 27 Aug free Michael.
  25. Do tell us more? Hope you both got on well and upheld the Caterham honours? Michael
